Have a 2019 GTS and love it. It's my 3rd 4 cylinder Porsche, after a 1965 356 SC, and a 914, and the engine sound is fine by me..honestly, at 74, I don't give a damn what others think as it works just fine for me..

I have a 911 and it sounds great, but I agree that the engine has to be driven at high RPM to get power. This 718 Cayman engine sounds fine and hope this video helps put to rest all the squawking about the 718 engine sound. I'll take performance over a different engine note.

I’ve had this car for over a month now and I have to say this is the most honest assessment I have found so far, as a daily car on U.K. roads it’s great fun and more realistic than the GTS 4.0.

Very educational, I was actually surprised by the sound in a good way. I keep flip-flopping between a lightly optioned Carrera and a very well equipped Cayman with change Lol. This was helpful especially the practicality which I hadn't considered, thanks :)

Cayman is a better Porsche. More like the older 911. The modern 911 is too large and is a luxury car now. Not a true sport car.

New car with warranty which is better in every way than the 981. 718 is the way to go

718 is the best sportscar under 100K bar the M2. More reviews on the sportscars , maybe the standard Carrera 992.

I owned an m2 competition and had it 1k miles. I traded in on a 718. Never regretted it.

Can I know what ADAS features does the cayman s have? And is it idle for daily drive??

To what degree can these be driven in the winter? Some people say the rear-wheel drive is an issue, others say no more than 4" of snow, and others say that studded winter tires are required.

With winter tires, these can be driven all year ‘round, a studded tire gives you extra confidence on ice, but they aren’t a necessity. The mid-engine design makes for excellent balance which makes the car very maneuverable and predictable. This is obviously a benefit on dry pavement, but is absolutely what you want in unfavorable conditions as well. The rear wheel drive layout can be intimidating to those you are used to Front Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive as the vehicle does behave differently, but its more a difference than an inherent detriment. Depending where you drive you may have issues with ground clearance, but several of our employees drive Caymans year ‘round without issue.

We are not wrong. I drove both. 981 is the choice if you want a proper sound. If I want to buy a 4 cylinders I go for Volkswagen my friend. Plus 718 is depreciating extremely fast while 918 holds the value and it will in the future as aspirated engines are going to be like white flies. My opinion of course but beautiful car anyway.

fact is the 718 is a better Cayman. Such a fun sportscar and it's a bargain tbh. And the 981 is not gonna hold its value so much because of the GTS 4.0.

I can already tell by watching this video that there is not alot of emotion from the car I give you the keys of my 981s and im shure those downshift will make you smile more !
