2020 Renault Koleos Signature 2.5L Review in Malaysia, Should You Even Consider This SUV? | WapCar

The 2020 Renault Koleos Signature 2.5 is a very left-field choice among SUVs in Malaysia.
If you’re looking for a European badge, there is the Peugeot 3008 and Volkswagen Tiguan both packing peaky turbocharged engines. Japanese offerings like the Mazda CX-5 and CR-V would also fall into your list of consideration.
The Koleos Signature priced at RM 182,867.09 (OTR without insurance & SST), is a lot of money given the equipment that it comes with. But under the Renault Subscription plan, the Koleos becomes a quite enticing package.

Finally, Proper review of Koleos! It is rare to see someone reviewing this car. Thank you very much WapCar! P/S: If you don't mind, Can you consider to review the DS7 Crossback also? It is very hard to see anyone reviewing the DS7 Crossback.

In South Korea, it's known as Renault Samsung QM6 (Yup, Samsung also made cars, JV with Renault and Nissan) and Koleos in Malaysia are CBU from RSM Plant in Busan...

8:16 You say Koleos is quieter, but dB level says X-trail is quieter. However, in Australia, this cost way less than Volkswagen and even a little less than the X-trail excluding the e-Power version. It's an attractive buy for this who don't mind a CVT.

Interesting review. I drive a Koleos but it's a diesel 4WD. If you compare it to the Tiguan with a Diesel enginge and 4-motion the Tiguan is better in almost all aspects. However here in Europe a equally spec Tiguan is 7000-8000 euros more expensive. The Koleos also have the 4wd lock that the x-trail has and it's awesome. The trunk of the Koleos is also better shaped and holds more cargo then the Tiguan. If you measure to the ceiling. You also get a little bit more equipment in the Koleos. But the Tiguan is a better drive and more efficient and better quality. If you don't mind spending the extra money go for the Tiguan. Otherwise the Koleos is a good deal.

Never been this early to a WapCar video! Anyways, here are my thoughts: As the owner of a Peugeot 208, the one thing you have to seriously think about before going head-first into the ownership experience of a French car is the maintenance. I’m not so sure about Renault, but for Peugeot it’s definitely something you gotta consider. Anyways, nice video, WapCar! Appreciate the effort from you on reviewing more of the far-out offerings in the Malaysian car market. 😁

Hi, regarding the maintenance, is it cost wise or just general more frequent maintenance or unavailability of parts?
@obidean3964
@obidean3964 3 жыл бұрын
Maybe it's different for Renault as they share many components with Nissan. I think lah hehe 😁

I own a Renault and honestly the maintenance cost is pretty average. As one comment pointed out, it shares a lot of parts with Nissan and it is mentioned this Koleos shares the same engine as the Nissan X-Trail, so sparepart costs won't be that high. Heck, you'll usually send your car to Nissan SC because there's only one exclusive Renault SC.

@@KOBEROCKS777 I own a Peugeot 508 in Malaysia, and would say its cost of parts/maintenance rather than frequency of repair. In 5 years the car has been very reliable, but compared to my wife's Honda servicing is about 50% more expensive, and the dealership experience is relatively poor. My local dealer (Georgetown, Pg) doesn't hold parts stock so if you need parts and its found during service, you will need to come back in a few weeks for that to be done which is inconvenient. They do not offer loan cars. The dealership experience is the most disappointing aspect of owning this marque in Malaysia, and is what would prevent me from buying another Peugeot here. Now that it is out of warranty, we are buying a Volvo as replacement (which has maintenance included for 5 years). We actually did consider the Koleos, but the driving experience on the test drive was hardly exciting, and I was disappointed that they don't offer the advanced safety tech available on the Koleos in other markets (AEB, etc). Again the dealership experience was less than stellar. In Penang, the Renault dealer occupies a small corner of the Nissan dealership and product knowledge, and general enthusiasm to sell was not that flash la.

This is actually quite interesting option in the class even without the intriguing subscription plan with the classy graceful looks, spacious interior, decent equipment list and it's quite rare otr, feeling exclusive compared to boring CR-V 😁 Although I think if the price is slightly lower, it could get more competitive imo.

Renault supposed to review the selling price par or lower than CRV and CX5 which now lead the market. Otherwise, Renault will have to slash the price up to RM20k or more. Just like Peugoet did on 3008, 5008 and Mitsubishi did on ASX and Outlander..

Volkswagen also should come up with it. It's already general knowledge that Msians are scared of owning one due to certain reasons. Can't stop or change them. But VWs are good cars but bad RV and maintenance. The best alternative is to come up with leasing. That's the best. Same goes to Peugeot, Citreon

subscription plans seem like rip-offs. high monthly rates (not much different from HP) but don't get to own the car. additional restrictions e.g. limited yearly mileage, unable to add stuff e.g. tinting, ICE, etc.

@@cychan4809 what problem? My cousin have a same car but no problem. But i think it is normal if the gb have problem after 4 or 5 years right? bc car parts have life span, average about 5 years. Most car will have major problem after 5 years especially if the car not being service well, abused or high mileage. Thats why most of car brand give 5 years warranty only bc they know after 5 years they gonna be a problem. Maybe you should try toyota next because they have good reliability record.
