2020 Suzuki Ignis: a Great City Car
FULL REVIEW: gaycarboys.com/is-2020-suzuki...
(excerpt below)
A city car is one designed fit into teeny spaces, as Ignis is.
So often, they’re utterly rubbish at everything else. Even the shortest journey is one of the most desperate misery. With pews as hard as stone, and the suspension of a BBQ, even the most stoic driver turn puce with rage.
Ignis is different, it is cute, and fun.

Ignis is a reasonably priced 2nd car, or something for the beginner.
It comes as a GL and GLX, with our car being the range-topper. It is all relative though, because Ignis is not a more expensive car made cheaply. Instead, it was designed to be inexpensive car from the ground up. There are places where this is definitely more obvious than others.
Is Ignis Cute?
Take a look at it.
It has the face of an angel, albeit a cheeky one. LED projector lights eject a brilliant day-like glow to an evening. The wheels are 16” alloys on GXL. It gives the profile a certain je ne sais quoi, especially in this festive season.
The cheery little box is just the ticket for modders. You know the type. Their fake Burberry caps are set at jaunty angles, and gold-plated chains jangle as they saunter. They want big wheels and decals, and whale tails the size the QMII. But I digress…
Ignis even has a couple of buttons on the doors for smart entry, and another button on the dash to start. That’s dead posh that is.

Cruise control is not adaptive. But with Dual Camera and slow down speed it holds distance like adaptive Systems, feels great and safe.

Mild Hybrid System gives an E-Boost of Extra 35 Nm. Between 2000 and 3.900 rpm it helps at Acceleration or climbing hills. Needs a bit expierience, but displays help to learn .

well in australia's case: some drive trains are only available from certain factories, but more importantly, our fuel is shit. several brands have told me that's why australia doesn't get the brand new engines at times

Noise comes from rear. Have a look to the bottom an fill with Material. Fill rear with cushion like material and you drive very silent up to 130 kmh. YES FREEWAYS over 150 kmh needs a lot of petrol. If used to start and stop Assistent you can drive sportive with about 6.l a hundert Kilometers. My wife drives soft. Consumption is under 5 l / 100km, like Suzuki says.

Some specs extra ordered. Better tires and 15" alloys. Speedy now. Side Bumper small and on rear an extra Chrome optic line.

I tested the SZ5 hybrid allgrip today in the UK. I was impressed with the engine sound, it sort of growls its not some bland 1.2 four cylinder, the battery certainly helps and found it had plenty of power even up gradients. I liked the way it accelerated and the ride quality, even on poor roads which are frequent in the north of this country ! When you consider the price and segment, its a lot of car for the money. I drive a Subaru Outback and yet jumping into this didnt feel like a huge difference. Im looking to downsize as mine just costs silly money to run as our petrol is a rip off here. Only problem, to order a new Ignis allgrip, its a 4 to 6 month wait because of the ridiculous chip shortage.

the same story world wide. we had the same reaction to our Jimny review. $26k AUD but they're selling 2nd hand for 40k. ludicrous. if you really want it, order it and wait, it is the only way.

Apologies for not including it in the review.I understand it was mineral grey, but i said at the time it didn't look like mineral grey to me. it is the only grey-like colour they have, and the Khaki is far too green. All of that finished up on the cutting room floor.

I am thinking of buying the ignis, but very hard to find a colour to look at, as the dealer, basically, has no idea, and the web sites seem to have overseas models. Do you know where I can see the khaki green in the Australian model?? Thank you very much.
@gaycarboys
@gaycarboys 3 жыл бұрын
I've seen the Khaki on the press fleet but sadly we have little to do with dealers. I know the HQ's have public contact centres but if you like, i can ask the australian managers if they know of a unit? after all they know what dealers have what. just might not be near you. where abouts are you?

I think your test is way off. 'The speedo is out by 3km/h'. All cars have a slightly optimistic speedo! Here in South Africa we have a LOT more gravel and bad roads than in the UK and I found that the Ignis performs well here. I noticed that you don't have a lot of experience driving on these roads. Why would you expect accessories on a budget car which you only find on cars costing much more? 'Not good at being a muscle car'?😄 I rest my case.🙄
@gaycarboys
@gaycarboys 2 жыл бұрын
this review is not in the UK. Not sure which accessories you refer to, but if related to safety ratings, the criteria are set by ANCAP and EuroNCAP and are required for 5 stars. It wasn't being compared to a muscle car, or a luxury car. the reviewer specifically states what the car is meant to be and what it is good at.

@@gaycarboys I didn't that message at all. He gave a whole list of categories what this car is not good at implying that this car is not good at anything, even if you stay 'in a rural areas'. I know many peoole who stay on 'plots' on the outskirts of the big towns and cities for who this car could be just right. There are a LOT of bad gravel roads here and it handles them very well. Don't expect too much though on more challenging sections where even a more dedicated 4x4 could get stuck. The driver's skill plays also a big role. I have a lot of experience but it looks like the tester hasn't got a clue to be honest. It comes standard with a lot more accesories than what you would expect from a budget car. I am surprised that he didn't start criticising the car for a lack of 'soft touch' plastics.
