For everyone wanting to compare it to a 790, just remember that during a comparison that bike bandit did, the 790 broke down. Another reviewer, whose name escapes me, said their 790 has been in the shop for a bunch of electrical gremlins. The 700 doesn’t have a bunch of BS and the CP2 motor is extremely reliable. The KTM is safer, of course, because you don’t get to ride it as much.

Any bike: Leaves the factory. Zack: Yep, I'd gear It up a little bit.

Show idea: Zach and Ari. Two T-7's. Road trip around Colorado, all kinds of terrain. Then Ryan F-9 shows up ... on a T-7. I'm at 22000 miles on my fz07 and no mechanical problems what so ever. Original clutch is still good to go. Thank yamaha for not making junk.

I see you compulsively cancelling your indicators every 5 or so seconds while riding, just to make sure you dont inadvertently have them on. Glad i'm not the only one.

For people with a loose/free gas cap. Just throw a leather or paracord strap on your keys. It helps you grab your keys from your pocket with gloves and when you get gas, just hang the loop from the brake cylinder, handlebar, lever... whatever. It's super convenient. That simple key loop gets as much use as my helmet or the actual key itself. Mine is just a small shackle bolt with a strip of thick black leather I stitched into a loop large enough to fit around my wrist if need be. Super cheap and easy to make.

A lot of us dont want all of that STUFF. I am glad that Yamaha understands what a rider for this category wants. I keep bikes that I like for a long time and I can see complexity being a liability.

I like this series very much - makes a difference having a presenter who genuinely cares about bikes. Ride on Zack!

Great video as always. Here is a lesson for new riders: watch what Zach does at 12:02. You should always keep your eyes open for cars coming in from side roads and driveways. Cars aren't always looking for motorcycles, especially in areas where the riding season is shorter than LA, so we need to always be looking for them. Stay safe out there!

I feel like I get a double dose of unbiased information about a new bike when RyanF9 and Zack both review the same bike. I hope to put one of these in my garage one day.

Zach you sneaky man, you said you weren't going to do a daily ride on this thing for a while! What a pleasant surprise to wake up to on a Saturday. Keep the daily rides coming, I can't get enough of em!

And then there's me sitting at 8000 rpm cruising on the highway on my Duke 200.

I really think this is a great looking bike.

I dropped mine 20mm and now that the suspension is broken in and I’ve found the settings that work for me I’m at 99% flat footed at stops. I’m 5’10” tall. I also went up 1 tooth on the countershaft sprocket and installed 1-3/4 inch bar risers because I ride 85% on streets of all sorts to include caliche and gravel. I love the simplicity and lack of as much electronic crap as possible. I have 3 windshields of varying height and width per application. Center stand, top box, tail tidy, anti bobble head and decat header and side bar protection from Hepco & Becker. One of the REAL positives for the T7 was purchase price! I paid MSRP Exactly at the Yamaha shop in Lufkin, Tx, $9975. Comfort seat from seat concepts is all that’s left for me and my T7 I believe will outlive me.

It's a perfect bike for someone coming from dirtbikes wanting to try a road/off-road long distance bike. The suspension if trash but easily fixable. Perfect bike for what I'm after.

Rode this bike at a Demo event. I am 5'6" 30 inch inseam. Was on my tip toes but it is manageable. Great bike, wish it had a little bit more power though like 80 ish.

I've never understood why bikes like this don't have lower ratio gears for 1-3 and then higher gears on 4-6.

I LOVE my T7! It is so much fun. Best ADV bike out there. I followed and still follow the news on this bike. I am just now hearing the "bad brakes" comments. I think the brakes are great. You do not want sportbike brakes on a dirtbike. You do not want HD brakes on anything. I hear the suspension talk all the time and I agree. Would really like to see an aftermarket gas cap....hint hint companies. Wicked stoked when I saw the Zack and T7 icon this morning. A lovely treat to go with my coffee. Thank you.

Glad to see the Versys 650 at the top of the leaderboard. I've had mine for 4+ years and still love it. If I had the opportunity for more off road, I'd definitely be looking at the Honda AT or the Yamaha T7.

I just gotta say that you were the reason i got a versys 650 LT 😎👍. It was down to the Versys or wait for the T7. I just couldn’t wait anymore and i regret nothing! (Though this bike still looks awesome to me). Loving the tall bikes!

CB500F has the same gas cap design. I put the cap on top of the pump when fueling, with the edge and key down. It works pretty well. There's no way I'm going to ride off and forget it -- because the key's in the cap.

There is a reason it's not a wheelie monster. The countershaft angle. It pushes the front down. Ryan F9 review explains very well.

There is one area we often agree with you and that is gearing. I generally like stock gearing but I would be more apt to gear up than gear down. I even geared up my 1987 KX500 I think dropped 3 teeth off the back sprocket left the front stock. I didn't always get the hole shot but I was always near the front of the pack at the first turn. I hill climbed with it and did very good. Raced moto-X, cross country and trails, I loved that bike. Advantages included less unsprung weight, less drive train weight, it also made the it a slightly wider ratio transmission and made that strong midrange motor just shine! and haul! The only disadvantage I can thing of was, I was a little bit more challenging in the the slow nearly sections, but I always managed fine and never had to replace clutch plates. I always had good luck with clutches and transmissions.

Great review! It's a very nice bike. After 40 years of riding, my actual bike (19th) is the VStrom 650 XT/2019. I live in the south part of Europe, Portugal; and for the last year I've been riding the Strom everywhere.... literally! Smouth, powerfull, very economic and very contactable for long, long rides with very LOW vibrations.... witch is something you can not say about the Versys 650...!!! I love ALL bikes! Now my ride is the V and I'm very, very happy with it!

Hey Zack, Pretty cool video for Yamaha T7, one of the best I've seen and man, isn't she a beauty!

The T7 has a button on the right hand handlebar to switch through the menu instead of pressing the button on the screen. The bike gets louder once broken in with a lovely sound especially on over run with a gurgling popping sound. The bike pulls great after 8k still plenty after 8k trust me lol. I’ve upgraded the rear spring to a 95nm and it made a big difference I’m 200lbs with out gear on. The breaks are fine. I have the Yamaha rear rack with passenger grab handles it’s great. I’ve added 2k plus of extras to my bike. LED plus turn signals, heated grips, outback mototek crash bars and skid plate, Center stand, bigger screen with wings, tail tidy, headlight protector, adventure spec mirrors. I like the bike it does everything well and it’s bulletproof. I would recommend oh and the tyres are great on road and in the wet.

After riding a couple different bikes, I can agree that a flat seat feels better with two riders. With a raised platform my wife was always having to lean forward adding stress to my wrists. With the flat seat on my klr I can't even feel her there since she can just sit upright and scoot her hips right into mine.

I feel the adventure bike segment is the perfect choice. Always had fun on sport bikes but liked the convenience of a bagger. Adv bikes seem to be the perfect compromise. But it might also be the fact that I love my dirt bike 😎

Back some years ago I went on a KTM demo. The ride lead was rippin' it hard, actually. I obliged myself on an 1190 Adventure getting low on the curves. The lead was on the same, but the R model. I was quite surprised how far over that beast could lay, with TKC80's nonetheless, and absolutely rocket out of the bends into triples. That motor was so impressive. Won't forget that ride.

The headlight does look awesome. It almost appears as if the windshield is also the headlight lens. It really has a unique look that is also good looking. The rear tail / dirt bike number plate area looks crude and unfinished. Overall it does have a true adventure bike look.

Just loved this bike, shifting to the states next year, definitely going to get one!

And for those wanting to know if you can ride it across the country, just know you can ride anything across the country if you are willing. I rode my DRZ on a 4K mile Look that included California, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. It’s all possible.

This is a perfect New England back road finder .. Ridge runner and dirt road's friend . It is just right for Litchfield county ..With a 29 inch inseam, I might need to soften up the back end a little. The less bite in that front brake seems just right for a steep gravely incline at 12 MPH :) .Thanks Zack ...If you ever get back to NE stop by my pottery shop for a visit ..Norrth Western Connecticut is just hitting some great colors right now ... Ah wet leaves in the middle of a transition :)

Here in Kuwait the tenere 700 gets sold out real quick so difficult to get your hands on one . You have to reserve it before it arrives and then buy it straight away

I really think cruise control should have been an option, maybe on a premium model for those of us that are willing to pay for what we want.

As for the "average brakes" I have one of these XTZ690's here in OZ, and have installed the Camel high fender kit that includes SS braided lines and this small upgrade has dramatically improved both the performance and feel of the brakes. I think if the rubber line between the master cylinder and ABS module was also upgraded it would transform them further. Keep up the good work. From the Land of OZ

Good review, took one out for a test ride and found the seat uncomfortable after 1 hours ride and the fork drive when braking pretty harsh. I wanted a touring come adventure bike. So no good for me. So decided on a BMW 850GSA, more refined and more comfortable although the 700T is a better off road bike then the BMW.

Saw some dude rocking this bike on a aggressive single track. I was very impressed.

Can't wait to get my hands on a T7. Been wanting one for a while now

Personally, I feel that the T7 is actually what the Versys 650 should have been in the first place, sans the taller seat height. I will definitely rate it as the #1 daily rider leaderboard. It's as comfortable for touring as the V650, if not better, and way way better for offroading than the V650. If only T7 is launched in India... which unfortunately might never happen 😭

I commuted from Redlands, CA to Long Beach for college on a GSXR1000 k6. Rode on the 1, 405, 605, 22, 55, 91, 215, and 60 depending on the day and destination. Shorts and flip flops when it was warm, target bags over my socks in Sidi riding boots when cold. I use to dune in glamis in flip flops, shorts, and an NFL jersey. Almost died in a crash when a truck pulled in front of me. Funny thing, my road rash was the least of my pain. Shattered arm and wrist, few surgeries, collapsed lung, broke my other arm, and couldn't walk cause of torn groin muscle. If your screwed your screwed. I broke over half my fingers and had to have someone wipe my ass. By the time I was off heavy pain killers my road rash was gone and I was trying to rebuild strength in an arm that could barely move a few degrees. . Yet I still wear sandals and shorts when it's nice out cause it's the greatest feeling, and if I crash it'll be more painful but worth it. . No sandals were lost in the making of these memories.

I'm 5'11" and have a 2019 V Strom 650. My previous bike was a small Honda cruiser. The height was scary enough at first that I bought lowering links. After about a year I put the bike up to the original height and I'm totally comfortable with it now. I can't flat foot it but I find I don't really care anymore.

A little larger windshield and gear it up a tad and you could ride it all day long on the interstate with some throw over soft bags. I swapped the motor sprocket for one with 1 tooth more and it’s now just fine on the freeway. I also have a tall windshield for those longer treks on the Highway and it’s really surprised me coming from a big touring bike. Needless to say I’m in love with the T7. As a former Trucker let me say thank you for the kudos, we don’t get any appreciation despite the fact that the whole country would stop without trucks!

Brakes are great for offroad. You don't want killer brakes in the dirt. You want a road bike buy a mt07.

To me this is the bike you buy when you’re thinking about getting a new KLR but you remember that the KLR doesn’t even have 40 HP. I think this bike will take away a lot of the KLR business.
