Hey everyone! Welcome to my channel! In this video, I will essentially be updating you guys on both my 2021 AP scores and my experience at college thus far, which I had planned to do much sooner, so my apologies on that!
Timestamps:
0:00-1:40 -- Intro
1:41-5:28 -- College Update
5:29-13:30 -- AP Score Predictions
13:31-14:20 -- Quicker Run-Through of My Predictions
14:21-19:01 -- AP Score Reveal
19:02-21:08 -- Final Words
In the "College Update" portion of this video, I will briefly detail where I am attending school, what I am studying, and how my college experience has been thus far. If you have any questions about college life, please let me know!
The rest of this video will center on my 2021 AP scores (I'm super late to the game; I'm sorry!). Please note that this is NOT a raw reaction, but rather, I will just be showing you my AP scores and giving you my original score predictions. I will be revealing my 13 AP exam scores from my senior year of high school. I self-studied for 8 AP exams (Chemistry, Computer Science Principles, English Literature and Composition, Environmental Science, French Language and Culture, Italian Language and Culture, Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, and Physics C: Mechanics) and took 5 AP classes through my high school (Macroeconomics, Physics 2, Spanish Literature and Culture, United States Government and Politics, and World History: Modern). I hope your AP exams have been going well, and again, reach out with any questions you have.
Do you have any additional questions? Feel free to let me know!

@ethanshohet
@ethanshohet 2 жыл бұрын
I just took the class and while I didn't self study, literally just take practice exams. The questions are embarrassingly easy and repetitive across tests, so if you have a few of the terms down you'll be fine. The tough part is the personal project, where you'd have to just make a coding project that meets the requirements. All thing considered the project isn't hard, and if you base it solely around the requirements, you'll be fine

Thank you so much! And yeah, if you have access to practice multiple choice questions, definitely do those! I agree with the previous comment here in that they are very repetitive year-to-year, so you'll get the hang of them pretty quickly. They all pretty much require a very basic, foundational knowledge of computer science but mere logic and reasoning more than anything else, which makes them, in my opinion anyway, relatively straightforward. With the project, just pay attention to the guidelines and be 100% sure you're hitting all of them. As long as you do everything being asked of you, you'll get all the points without a problem. Also, in terms of review books, definitely, definitely, definitely DO NOT get the Barron's!!! Omg it is hands down the worst review book I think I have ever seen haha; there are errors and typos literally everywhere, so I just wanted to let you know about that. But yeah, it is definitely super doable to self-study this exam, and you certainly don't need any prior experience in computer science to score well on it, but if you have any other questions, just let me know.

How do you study for AP Exams like government, language, or psychology?
@ZacharyMcCormick11
@ZacharyMcCormick11 2 жыл бұрын
Assuming that you're referring to AP US Government (as opposed to Comparative Government), the key to earning a 5 on that exam is to nail the FRQs. You have a lot more room for error on the multiple choice, but that is not the case with the FRQs because there are not very many points to be earned. FRQ1 is out of 3 points, FRQs 2 and 3 are out of 4 points, and FRQ4 is out of 6 points. Keep in mind that both the multiple choice and FRQ sections are half of your overall score, so missing out on a point in the FRQ section is a much bigger loss than doing so on the multiple choice, so focus your studying on the FRQs primarily! Memorize all of the court cases in as much detail as possible for the SCOTUS comparison FRQ, know the vocabulary, be sure that you are able to interpret quantitative data, and practice some past FRQs on the College Board website. The Princeton Review also has a very helpful book for this exam, so I'd recommend looking into that as well. Then, assuming you're referring to AP English Language (?), I'd also be sure to practice some past FRQs on the College Board website. Seriously, once you start practicing and writing out a few FRQs, you'll start realizing that the format of the questions really doesn't significantly change year to year, so that should help you get a feel for what to expect on exam day. I used the Barron's prep book for this exam, and, while I generally don't prefer Barron's, I actually found the one for AP Lang rather useful. Be sure to brush up on some useful terminology and rhetorical devices that you could include in your rhetorical analysis essay as well. As for the multiple choice, you will be asked to analyze brief texts and passages, so be sure that you feel comfortable with that as well. Then AP Psychology is really just a big vocabulary test. As long as you know all of the relevant terms assessed on the exam, you're set (for both the multiple choice and FRQ sections). Typically, one of the FRQs touches on the data and research methods section of the course, so be sure that you're well-versed in that. Apart from that, this exam is pretty straightforward. Just know your terminology! Hope this helps!

Bro i gotta ask. How did you manage the studying among all these APs?
@ZacharyMcCormick11
@ZacharyMcCormick11 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I have a good answer for this haha; I certainly did cram a lot for a fair portion of these exams, but honestly, I just set a tentative calendar and timeline for when I wanted to have certain things done by, and that seemed to work alright for me. I'm not always the best at sticking to it exactly, but it is rewarding for me to check things off of my "to-do" lists, so it kept me at least a little motivated and helped me fight the senior slump. What I found has really helped me though has been setting times I want to finish certain tasks by instead of setting times I want to start them. I find that when it is super easy for me to delay starting on a task when I do the latter, but when I set a time I want to finish something by, I am more motivated to get it done, so that I can relax or do whatever else I want to do afterward. That's helped me study and get things done more quickly and allow me to manage my time a bit better. Apart from that though, I'm afraid I don't really have many other tips. I just generally enjoy studying and learning new things, so I kinda just used these self-studies largely as a way for me to stay motivated to learn new things just for the sake of it. Hopefully this helps at least a little though!

I totally agree with the other comments here! Heimler's History was one of the most useful resources for me as well, although I primarily used the Princeton Review Book in studying for the exam. Don't bother with the AP Classroom videos; they're such a waste of time honestly. At least when I took the exam, I remember those videos being super vague and not helpful at all. Also, definitely review the Course and Exam Description for the exam on the College Board's website and check out past FRQs to get a feel for what the exam will be like. Make sure you have a feel for the general trends in world history over time, since that is more heavily assessed than the specifics and minute details. I hope that helps!

My family is from Italy and I want to learn it. What tips do you have?
@ZacharyMcCormick11
@ZacharyMcCormick11 2 жыл бұрын
When it comes to learning any foreign language, of course, consistent exposure is the key! That's precisely how I was able to self-study Italian at a much faster rate than that at which I learned Spanish. I would say that you'll want to have a way in which you're practicing four modalities of the language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing (assuming you're wanting to learn all of these components of the language, of course). I would read news articles in Italian aloud to myself, keep a log of what I did on any given day (and thus learning vocabulary words relevant to my daily routine), speaking and narrating to myself what I was doing at a certain point, listening to Italian music, watching short films in Italian, etc. Above all else, you'll want to make sure that you have a method that you enjoy; otherwise, you won't be motivated to stick with it. I also watched Learn Italian with Lucrezia (a KZfaq channel) a lotttt; she has vlogs of her walking around in Italy or cooking, so you can also learn about Italian culture, which is super nice! She has playlists on her channel as well, one of which contains some elementary grammar lessons, which would be great for those just starting out. LearnAmo and Impara l'Italiano con Italiano Automatico are both pretty good channels as well, so they may be worth checking out. I also purchased the Barron's AP Italian book, and even if you're not taking the exam, it may be helpful! It comes with a CD, so you can practice your listening comprehension, and there are several reading passages, grammar lessons, and cultural elements covered as well. But again, the key is exposure! Honestly, there have been so many instances when I found myself using terms/phrases that I never remember explicitly learning, but rather, I happened to pick them up from what I was hearing or reading, so that is a super rewarding feeling. It is as if you are learning without even realizing it! I also practiced my Italian a lot with native speakers on HelloTalk and a bit on Tandem as well (which are both apps you can download on your phone). On those apps, you can basically help other people learn your native language, and they, in exchange, will help you with theirs. There are a number of ways to go about learning the language, so just experiment a bit, and hopefully you'll find something that suits you! Hope this helps!
