Very interesting video, Cameron. Caravans this side of the pond are now all seemingly built to be towed by pick up trucks. They all look like they are on stilts with the body perched way up in the air to eliminate the wheel well intrusions. Makes them a bugger behind a car, as the coupler is up almost at the top of the boot lid. The Volvo 240 could easily handle one of these, and it is tempting, but I have no idea how much it would cost to import! I do find these reviews very interesting. If nothing else, it makes me think of ways I would design the interior for myself, starting with an empty shell

What I love about Cameron's reviews is that he doesn't flap his arms about like a demented penguin when describing all the positive features of the 'van. Some reviewer's look as if they're about to take off 😅😅

Regarding the single front window and occasional table: I wonder if any caravan manufacturer has considered fitting only the two normal outer front windows, leaving a solid panel where the centre front window would normally be, and having a full-size table in the front lounge which folds down from the area between said windows. You'd perhaps achieve the wider view people are seeking, but also have a table which can be put into place without anyone having to get up from their seat. Just a thought!

Great review again. We looked at the discovery d42 and the Basecamp 2 as we are new to caravanning this year. But came across the Bailey Phoenix 420+ and for 2021 model bought it’s an amazing entry level choice. Would love to see if you could review one if you ever get the chance 😀

I like the style of the sofas with the piping in yellow.I think the walls could have been made somewhat better with perhaps a soft cram colour on them, I find the white rather stark.I am assuming that the walls with no windows could bear a small tv ?I think the spotlights are brilliant with the additional usb sockets and the pockets in the wall too. The awful squeaky table that you opened up (!) is quirky and I can see the benefits of it ,but I do feel there should have been a little extra room made for it. Totally agree about the faff of having to get a table out .( just a bit of info for you , orange was Frank Sinatra's fave colour too.) yes curtains would soften the windows a bit even if you couldnt draw them back .Im pleased that the rear seating area ( which i was puzzled about the need for two seating areas?) can be made into a solid bed .I like the ambient lighting .thats a nice touch as you say .When you got to the kitchen , I too thought that it was tiny , I would have preferred both cupboard doors to be the same shape .I like the fact that you get a shelf .I think it would have been better to have a full backwall to the kitchen too,. there is lighting so no real need for a window, that could have been used for storage fixed to the wall. I cant see the point in such a large sink, where would you dry your crockery? if the sink were smaller and round then more room could be at the back to place a kettle or a toaster or small coffee machine .Yes , the extra piece of folded board should have been the full depth and they could have placed another at the other end next to the door .which a drainer could have fitted . The washroom door , has always baffled me as to why companys place a regular door handle on this room? surely there are other designs that would not jut out into the caravan.It IS tiny and the washbasin is so basic. it reminds me of old 1950s school basins .The tap is a bit big . in the rear seating area, on the wall, what is that silly wood decor about ? you didnt mention if there are any blinds on the windows? Do the sofa covers come off for cleaning ? all in all a nice van with a few things that they could improve on ,

We have the D4-2 and the fact it didn’t have curtains was a selling point. Originally planned to buy a Basecamp but build quality put us off. Really happy with the D4-2 had it 3 years and no issues.

Thank you. Really enjoyed this review and over the Basecamp, for me this is just a little more conventional. Given the choice, the stripped back, less ostentatious simpler caravans win every time. Donkeys years ago I had one of the first Lunar Chateau vans. And at a time when everything else was in crushed pink velour with cocktail cupboards it was quite daring. Used to joke "it's IKEA on wheels" Right off to find your Musketeer review and a bit of reminiscing....

Big sigh when the door was opened to reveal the obligatory wood effect. No wood effect in the Basecamp! Good review though!!! :-)

Nice van. I really don't like 3-way fridges at all. I wonder if Bailey offer a 2-way fridge option instead?

I'm not sure if this might be interesting given thoughts you've expressed about having solar panels: there's at least one manufacturer in Australia (Harvok) that offers completely electric vans completely self-powered by flexible panels, which is an Australian technology developed at CSIRO. My wife and I saw the vans at a recent caravan show and they looked very nice.

Hello from the States. Are all campers in the UK called Caravans? I"m sure with world of internet and KZfaq that you had seen how our campers look and especially types and sizes from bumper pulls to fifth wheels? Do they make them over there in the UK as well, in the lengths and widths like we have here in the states?
