2021 Can AM Spyder F3 first ride... I'm unsure how to feel about it based on it having 3 wheels instead of 2 but nonetheless it was something new and a great experience...

I picked up a 20 RTL last year and definitely takes a while to gets totally comfortable (I would say about 1000kms or so). Turning is so different as you do not counter steer. But it does smooth out as you get comfortable with the machine and will learn to pull on the inner handlebar and push with the outer bar with just the right pressure (again vs counter steering). You also want to lean into the turn while pushing with your outer foot. This helps you stay planted as the bike does not lean. Also, when you up-shift, you do not want to let off on the throttle (the way you do when shifting on a typical motorcycle). Just keep it steady helps with the "clunking" feeling from the transmission. Riding the brake pedal can cause the machine to go into "limp" mode so don't want to get in that habit. To me my Spyder does not replace my motorcycle (2016 Indian Roadmaster) as the experience is different. Some things better and some not so good. But overall, there comes a moment when you really fall in tune with the machine. It can really be a blast to drive and for me the favourite benefit is riding 2 up vs the same on a 1000lb motorcycle. I call mine a "go cart on steroids" lol. I think those who test ride this machine expecting it to replace their motorcycle and have the same experience can come away disappointed. But if you are looking for a new experience and willing to learn how to drive it, you are in for a treat. Nice job on your video!! Cheers Kevin

Thanks Kevin for watching as well as the input. I really did enjoy riding it even though I didn’t have much time with it. I feel like if I had a whole day with one I’d feel right at home. I’m hoping I’ll get a chance to try another model such as the ryker possibly this year. But all in all it was a good experience since it was a COMFORTABLE machine I was unfamiliar with and never rode before.

That is the top of the line there's nothing else after this bike. Whether you love it or hate it. You really can't get A 1st opinion. You physically have to Ride it. To give it a chance to give it an honest assessment. People that have owned and move up the chain they will give you the best opinion.

I have a 2016 and love it. When going into curves, just do what I do, think push/pull. If your going left, pull with your left hand and push with your right hand. And vise versa for right hand turns/curves.

It's called a semiautomatic. You don't want to try and over steer just lightly hold it in the center lane and let it do its own thing.

It takes a little while to get totally used to it. Coming from 40 years of 2-wheels, reaching for the front brakes for a while. They don’t like you riding the brakes either. I’ve had mine for a year and a half and do love it, especially when riding 2-up. Biggest thing I tell new ryders is not to do a death grip on the handlebars. That causes it to sway/dart around as the steering is sensitive.

I agree it definitely does take some time to get used to at first. I eventually figured out not to grip the bars as tight, but definitely was a comfortable ride

It is not an automatic transmission that you "can" shift, it is an automatic that you MUST shift going up, but are not required to (but can) going back down. Also it does not only have rear breaks that are on the floorboard. It has all wheel breaks that are all activated by the single floor board break. In that regard it is like a car, when you apply the single break it does not just activate the front or just the rear breaks, but all the breaks.

That's because it has a on board Traction control that will slow you down you're trying to go too fast around a Turn.

Nice video, thanks for sharing. I love my 2018 RT Limited. It borrows a lot from the automotive technology side of the house. Vehicle Stability System, Anti-Lock Brakes all the way around, Dynamic Power Steering, the works. So comfortable to ride. You don't have to worry about tipping it. The VSS (Nanny) will keep that from happening.

Only a rear brake is incorrect. The brake is on ur R foot which actuates the brakes on all three wheels…

Hi Randy, really found your video useful as an ex biker for many years, it must feel really strange not reaching for the brakes on the handle bars (one of my concerns) Without going into boring mode my spine is fubar'd & I have zero muscles from my backside to shoulder blades q.e.d. my biggest concern having never thrown my leg over one of these is the lateral force generated on my body in the twisty bits, I assume not being able to lean into a bend. Fortunately my arms, hands & knees are still in good shape (for an older gentleman 🙂) so would really appreciate your thoughts re lateral forces you may have noticed during your first couple of rides. Any thoughts/words of wisdom very much appreciated. Wishing you health & happiness, Mike S

Hey man thanks for watching and for this comment. I’m glad it could be useful to you. I did my best to just describe what I was feeling while riding. I personally think you after riding and getting used to it there’s a few things I would do differently. At first it definitely takes a few mins to get used to not have a clutch or brakes on the handle bars

I'm sorry to say but the rider has no clue... this bike does not only have rear brakes it has front and rear brakes yes it has one brake lever which is your foot brake all three Wheels have Brembo brakes also you do not need to lean into turns also the demonstrator should have mentioned to you that if you ease off the throttle when you're shifting you would get much more of a smoother shift and so on and so forth I could go on forever I'm giving it a thumbs down because the rider has no clue what he's saying this is what happens when you give a false report because you have absolutely no knowledge on the bike.
