Honest review of my 2021 Chevy Colorado 4 x 4 after daily driving and road tripping over a year. The good and the bad.
Mostly GOOD! I talk about the things I like most, and 1 thing that bugs me. It was that the seat was already starting to have cracking wear only after a year!
Besides that, a great truck! Thanks for watching!

I own literally the exact same truck. I can confirm about the heated seats, even at below -40 Celsius the seats will get warm fast. I've owned mine since Oct. 2020, and I can honestly say that this is a great truck. The size is great, and I can park in our 1 vehicle carport beside my wife's Suburban. Highway travel is great for longer trips, and sometimes feels like you're in a car it's so smooth. I know for sure that I would regret it if I don't have it, and every review I see makes me not want to sell it either. I think that if I finish paying this truck off that I'll keep it and probably just buy something else. Great review!

Had the same truck for the last year and never knew about the heated steering wheel, so thank you for that. Also it was weird having you looking around the inside cause ours look identical 🤣

You should also consider a 21’-22’ Canyon. All trim levels of the GMC version from Elevation to Denali come STANDARD with the blackout package, 18 inch powder coated black rims, and the interiors are actually all black, except for the headliner, and the soft touch leatherette dash even has the white stitching in it, as do the seats, arm rests, and center console. You’ll spend a little more for an Elevation trim than an LT Colorado, but they come better equipped and look more like a truck, Lol..

When I was shopping around, it was between this and a white AT4. Both sweet!

Have a 22 version of this but mine is bright blue and i dont have the blackout package. Its nice, If you want more get up and go install a pedal commander. I did and it is a night and day difference. Only thing i dont like is the rear axle is off centered by a inch give or take. All in all its a nice truck so far.

Nice truck man. These things can take a lot of abuse. I was working for Napa auto parts and delivering stuff in one of these when they first came out. If it can handle the crazy shit I used to do to it It’ll last you a good while.

Thinking about buying one. Also doing research on this 1 and Tacoma and Ranger etc...before I buy anything. But drove a Colorado yesterday for my 1st time. Seems like it drives very well. But does your transmission slip or things like that like like other people is saying on the You-Tube videos ?
@BuildwithBrian
@BuildwithBrian Жыл бұрын
I did a lot of research myself too! I test drove the Colorado and Ranger, but not the Tacoma. The Ranger felt cheaply made, the Colorado is beefier and no, I had zero issues with the transmission. Very solid truck!

@@BuildwithBrian I am a Ford fan. Have 195,000 on my 2007 Mustang. I am also a 6 or 8 cylinder fan. The thing I did not like on the Ranger is that its a 4 cylinder. Seems like its true the 4 cylinders are more powerful now days then in the past. That is not enough for me to buy a 4 cylinder. Not to mention with these new turbo 4 cylinders heard and read lots of people are having problems with them. And not to mention lots of the Ranger's now days has those dam radio knob shifters to put truck in R or N or D. Then I would want the traditional shifter. For me would say that Colorado had the best ride, the Ranger and Tacoma were about the same ride, not offal but not the best . But also test driven the Nissan Frontier and to me it was the worse one for the ride. Even steering it was not very good. So the Nissan is for sure out like the Ranger.

Brian, I get lousy gas mileage with my 2022 V6 Z71 offroad. I don't drive crazy at all but the meter usually says I'm getting 15 mpg combined. I drive about 22 miles per day highway and town. It always says "V6" on the display. At some point should it say V4? Is there a setting I'm missing? I bought it a month ago. BTW, I have the same seats and they're not real leather. The first thing I did was put seat govers on. I have the same running boards as you. My truck is white and I changed the badging myself from chrome to black, I put OEM black exhaust tip, and OEM all weather mats.

You should be getting much better gas mileage... try toggling through your displays on the dash and get to where it shows the fuel mileage in real time and see what it does as you are driving. It will make a huge difference in the way you punch it out of a red light or get on it when you hit the freeway. If it's city driving, then yes, you will see a lower mpg (around 15 - 17). It could just be the way you drive. Secondly, most of the time you will see the V6 lit up, I very rarely ever saw the V4 come on unless I was in town less than 25 mph, and still then, it rarely lit up. I was concerned about that myself, but every now and then, it came on. I bet your truck looks sweet! I originally wanted white myself, but this was the only one available on the lot at the time. Keep me posted!

Do those wrangler duratrak tires create a lot of road noise for that smaller truck?
@BuildwithBrian
@BuildwithBrian Жыл бұрын
Not at all, they were nearly silent. Brings up something I forgot to point out though... the Colorado was very stiff, you could feel every little bump in the road. I have a Silverado now, and it is a much smoother ride, not that I was annoyed with the Colorado, just making a comparison. Thanks for watching!

I had these duratracs on Silverado. Rotated at every oil change. They cupped and the tread shaved down fast..like 25-30k fast..they look good but are junk.

No, but now I got the Silverado 6.2L, that will blow your mind. 420hp stock. Don't test drive one, you will want to trade in your Colorado 😆

@@BuildwithBrian I’ve driven a Sierra with the 6.2 and it wasn’t any quicker than my 22’ Canyon 2WD. VERY nice truck though and definitely much nicer interior than in my truck, but it didn’t handle anywhere near as well as the Canyon and acceleration wasn’t any better. Gas mileage was also a no contest
@BuildwithBrian

My 6.2 squaks the tires as it shifts into 2nd, it's got mad torque and acceleration, it would spank any midsize in low, mid and high speed, gas mileage is around 16 when i drive it like i stole it (which is most of the time0 but when i baby it, i realistically get more like 18 to 20... the best i got (that is still on the dash) is 26 mpg. Nice truck, it's a keeper for me, however, I do have a small oil leak on the pan, probably from the abuse lol

I would seriously consider moving that Z71 emblem from the door panel to the back or even front side panel.

Hey Jon! Yeah, I loved that truck too! The interior colors are actually gray. The lighter gray does have a blueish look to it, but the camera makes it look more blue. In person, it's more gray, and it matches the seat trim. I personally liked the interior colors, but I know everyone has their own preference and taste. I found the interior to be much more luxurious, detailed and robust compared to the Ranger, plus it felt better built (more solid, heavier glass and doors). Thanks for watching!

All 2021-22 GMC Canyon versions of this truck, from the Elevation trim level and up come STANDARD with the black out package, and the interiors are actually all black, unlike the Colorado, with white stitching everywhere including in the soft touch leather trim dash, which is also black. Of course, you’re gonna pay a bit more for the “premium” GMC twin, Lol
