Thanks for the video and for the information. My boy started on a PW50, and then moved to a KLX110, then a CRF125F. He always loved riding, and always did really well. Then we moved him up to a KX85, and the train came off the rails. Suddenly fear became the prominent theme, and fun went out the window. He pretty much didn't even want to ride. Lately we've had a few rides where the fun and confidence is coming back, so there might be hope. If not, I'm considering a change to the CRF150R, where we could avoid the on/off, peaky, going from no power to too much power characteristics of the 2-stroke. NOTE: Initially I thought we were fine with the KX85, because our first experience was in a grassy field. He seemed to adjust to the power nicely. He was ripping through the gears, gaining more speed and confidence, and I thought we were good. Then things went downhill when we too him to the track, and he had to deal with turns, shifty dirt, and jumps. We was afraid to do jumps that he was doing on his CRF125F. Go figure.

I had one as a kid. I think 06-07. One of the first years they made them. I beat the hell out of it and it lasted. There pretty reliable

Ya Honda overall nailed it right from the get go. Biggest thing I heard that helped was they used stainless steel valves and not titanium

Good to see another dad spoiling his kid the way I do. I'm considering buying one of these for myself. We built a solid track for the kids, lots of small jumps and whoops. I have fun on my sons crf 110 but could have tons of fun on one these.

That sounds good, I think his dad is going to build a small track on their property so we can all ride on it together as well. I think this 150r would be a blast to rip on....I hope to get to soon!

I had the 07 big wheel and it was my first 4 stroke, blew me away how much it could rev, never would have believed they would get up there with 2 strokes. Great bike, got one because I enjoyed being able to touch the ground still! Back on a 2 stroke again but would recommend the 150rb to anyone, young or old.

@@americandude3825 yeah so basically makes it more adult compatible or for bigger kids, I would get the big wheel for kids regardless, as you will grow into it anyway.

I got one a few months ago it’s a very unassuming bike but the power delivery is insane it has way to much power for a beginner or lesser skilled rider

How tall is he? I considering gettin one for my dad, he’s 62. He stands at 5’7-5’8. He rides but sometimes the seat height is a little tall for him on a full size bike. I wanted to get him one hoping it would bring him some more leisure? Would you recommend this bike?

Its mainly a comparison of trail bike vs race bike. The 150r can stall way easier, harder to start...etc. But its got more power and better suspension.....just depends on what you want to do with it.

Hey so I currently have a kx100 big wheel two stroke and really want a four stroke, does anyone think that it’s not worth the trade to a 150 or should I just wait a little longer and get a 250?

Never road a kx100 but I've heard those move along pretty well. I'd wait for the 250 myself at this point. Maybe a big bore kit as an in between step, always fun to mod stuff

Great info. Thanks. Bought my son his first bike in 2020, for his 8th birthday. Its a CRF110. He does well on that bike. He will be 10 in April and I was thinking he's going to need an upgrade soon. Its crazy to think that 150R has more HP then the crf250f.

Can always swap out small wheels for aftermarket big wheels as the kid grows

Yes its possible but you need the longer swing arm, (because the rb has a bigger swing arm) and you obviosuly would need the big wheels wich would be around 800, and you'd need diffrent sprockets and the suspension needs to be adjusted diffrently

it would best if you measure your legs at first because if you sort of go based off high then it might now be that accurate

I think 4’8 is too short. You will fit better on something like a ttr 125 4 stroke. I’m about 5’3 and might be a little small on the 150

We bought one of these for my wife along with a set of 14/17 Tusk Impact wheels so we have a CRF150R-RB. The bike is a wicked power house... A little hard to start sometimes but the power to weight/size ratio is absurd... It may actually be my favorite platform to mess around on. We have 2 150r's now ✊😃 As always awesome video and thanks for sharing 👊😎 #BriannaLynn24

I really liked what I felt when I hopped on. I didn't want to rev it too hard yet so I was quickly short shifting it. These bikes are also really hard to find too, I know they've been looking for awhile and when Allsport got two in stock they decided it was time to quick thinking about it and just get one. Works for me!

Good bike, may be a bit small, for someone of your height. But will definitely have enough power 👍

As the other reply said power isn’t a problem but the frame might be too small. For this price also check out the new CRF250F vs the R. Bigger frame and plenty of power for learning and long term trail use. But it’s not really a track bike. Depends on what you want

Depending on how long your legs are you might need the normal vs big wheel but one of them would work for you

Thx I just don’t know what bike to get because it would be my first dirt bike. I have a quad that is a four stroke and has a clutch but I haven’t drove a dirt bike before, other than the time I did for 10 seconds and I crashed into a tree. But yah, if it doesn’t fit do u have any suggestions for a dirt bike?

I mean yes it’s my goal to pay for reliability up front but both brands have let me down in the past at time buts still less than other trucks I have owned and my one experience with unbranded bikes from china was enough!
