Technically they do let off. I doubt a BMW that has a top speed of 155 mph stock could do over 200 mph like a Stock Redeye can do.

Except they do let off. They ran out of room. That bmw stock has a top speed of 155 mph. Even modified I doubt it keeps up with a stock Redeye that can do over 200 mph.

I think the aerodynamics matter more. The redeye has the same drag coefficient as a chevy Tahoe, the bmw has the same as a c6 corvette

This just goes to show man you can't underestimate a car simply because of its weight. Despite the BMW being rather far from stock the Redeye still held its own without even an intake, exhaust, or an ounce of weight removed from it. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Bro the hellcat red eye starts around $90,000 the M340 starts around $58,000 and if you actually build some internals on the b58 you can easily make 1000hp now THAT is impressive. There’s plenty of Supra guys making 1000whp with the b58 already.

I didn't know Redeyes come from the factory with intakes thats pretty cool..crazy but those last races were so close to the point I think that weight reduction actually helped a little...Can't beat BMWs for power per dollar mod wise...red eyes aren't that expensive for the performance they provide so can't go wrong with either or

I wonder if the bmw drag coefficiency at .23 played a part in it slowly walking away at the top end. The challenger is .39 or higher with a wide body

@@quix99 But watch the race. That Redeye weighs just a bit under 4,500 and despite being COMPLETELY stock it still kept up with a rather modified beamer. All the Challenger needed (Like any modern Hemi) was an intake, exhaust, and smaller pulley and he would have been walking on the BMW all day long.

Yeah that’s about as close as it gets, great racing! I guess I’m just an old fart, but the guy driving the redeye looks like he’s not even 16. I think back on the 70s and never would have imagined the horsepower that cars have today. My 1971 396 Chevelle was near the top of the heap… looks sick compared to 800 hp + today. 😆

I remember when mustang came out stock 330 hp i was wow man thats sick! Now my girlfriends Ford Edge stock destroyed the older gt at 1/8 track times are changing. Now Tesla’s easily gap my ScatPack challenger at track im just in it to cruse now. Keeping up on speed is to expensive and. Getting crazy fast. Whats next 4 second EVs

I’m right there with you….just insane how quick cars are today, but you have to pay a lot for it. I feel the best bang for the buck is a coyote 5.0 mustang, spend an extra $4000 for a supercharger and for around $45,000 you’ve got a pretty quick car with 600+ hp.

@@stevepick9527 6.4 hemi can only take 7 pounds boost which is mot worth spending the money for a super charger or something on didn’t think about that when I bought it 485 hp sounded great for 43k but to go 100 more hp you have to replace bottom end of motor you don’t have to do that with chevy if ford so im at at a point where i sell it or have to put a crapload of money in it.

ngl, it’s pretty impressive the m340i can keep up with a red eye with just a few bolt ons. it’s a 3 series……. im getting a bmw suv this year 😅

Yeah, 340i looks like a base model 3 series, while the Redeye looks so evil. Pretty weird seeing the Bimmer smoke the Dodge.

How do you figure? A tune and e85 gets it over 500 at the wheels easily. Weighs ALOT less than the dodge probally 1k lbs or so, and you are missing the big picture…its a BMW vs a DODGE. Apples to oranges
