2021 Hunting in Texas, ran low on ammo so did not hunt allot this year; bought new ATN 4K Pro scope in October, only three videos taken with new 4K scope in this video. Thinking new scope will give some great videos.

10 or 11 of these wild hogs tore up my backyard lawn in Florida around a year ago on the Treasure Coast just 20 miles off Atlantic Ocean. HOA had to hire and expensive trapper to catch and kill them. Now I'm on the hook for around 35 pieces of new Sod etc. They are extremely destructive. And dangerous. That is why I enjoy watching videos like this one. Keep up the good work. And I feel for the Florida farmers that are fighting these wild Hogs too. Many are just getting by!!!

Awesome, thanks for the subscription from UK; Hogs are hard to come by this year because someone close to my land started trapping the hogs at the first of the year. The population of hogs has dropped down to only one or two pigs running by from time to time. Their trapping is nonstop, I have seen small groups come in but they are trapped in a day or two. Thanks for your comment and question. Let me first say, I really enjoy making these videos for people like you that know what they are looking at. In either one of my 4’ x 6’ box blinds, I just rest the rifle on the wooden window opening. In order to get a clean video without making viewers sea sick, I use a “BOG Havoc Shooting Stick, Bipod” just in front of the trigger guard to steady out the rifle. Without the bipod sticks the video jumps around instead of the smooth moving like you would see in a regular video taken from a camcorder. Good question buddy, thanks for watching.

@@artsmith103 I am not sure of a good or better bullet or one grain over the other; I would just recommend using a polymer tip bullet. Because, upon impact, the plastic drives into the hollow point and the bullet performs like a standard hollow-point, expanding ("mushrooming") to a larger diameter. These bullets possess the aerodynamics for longer, more accurate flights, and the in-target performance to ensure high lethality.

Hope you enjoy your new scope. Let me know if there is a question you think I might be able to answer. Here are some tricks I have learned and use a lot. Tip 1; Hold the back button down while turning zoom wheel to change brightness setting, I keep a setting of 1 at night time because anything brighter will jack with my eye in the dark. Tip 2; When zeroing the scope, after the shot at any zoom power, zoom to full power before going into “Zero Reticle”. Doing this the reticle will only move a point at a time, there for you will be making small moves as you zero the scope. And before you shoot again, back out of “Zero Reticle” and put your zoom where ever you like it. I have two different bullets and four saved settings. Both bullets are saved and 75 yards and saved at 120 yards. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.

I know that this was published 2 months ago but if you see this I was wondering, I noticed below in the comments that you said that you had friends that enjoy the meat. Don’t you have to worry about eradication programs that use poison? And finally, great video!
@tomhjr632 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your great question. We live in a small community with mostly cattle farmers; the game warden eats breakfast at our only restaurant in town and can be found there and talked with. I will ask him again about this, years ago I asked and there was no chance of that happens. I am not sure about the use of poisons in this area today, like back then, I don’t think it could be hidden or someone would be licensed to use it because of all the “By” kills including the cattle, deer, squirrels and protected birds of prey along with ducks and fish getting into bait that is poisoned or animals lying dead in the fields. I will get an update from the game warden or just talk to some of my hunting buddies that are closer to him and land owners. Thanks again for your question and thanks for watching.

@@Threegunmaster Awesome, thanks for the subscription; Hogs are hard to come by this year because someone close to my land started trapping the hogs. The population of hogs has dropped down to only one or two pigs running by from time to time. Their trapping is nonstop, I have seen small groups come in but they are trapped in a day or two. With that said, I have only shot three hogs this year, normally I try to make a couple videos a year. Don't know if I'll have enough for one video this year. I will keep trying. Thanks again my friend...

It's absolutely insane how fast these pigs reproduce! Even with the countless guys like yourself putting out videos here on Utube and countless other who don't record. Still is barely putting a dent in their numbers. Pair them with gov paying farmers not to grow, the price of fertilizer if they can even get it and Bill Gates being the single largest farmland owner...We are in big trouble! I really hope everyone is preparing for the hard times ahead. Everyone needs to be planting their own garden to become as self sufficient as possible. Stay armed, Stay safe out there and God bless.

I'm absolutely not against taking invasive species. And these are among of the worst. But taking them in ones and twos seems almost pointless. I'm just wondering if Texas needs to get serious about this with professionals who know how to take out entire sounders.
@tomhjr632 жыл бұрын
We have thought about trapping or something more professional but we do keep the hogs numbers on our 300 acres under control most of the time. Keep in mind we really love the opportunity to hunt year round. It is great to invite a friend or family members over to hunt at any time of the year for some great hunting fun and free meat.. Only time I get very serious about thinning the sounder is when the numbers get out of hand but there again my hunting buddies are always at the ready to jump in and help. Thanks so much for your question and thanks for watching.
@jamesmason22282 жыл бұрын
@@tomhjr63- Well, even if you trapped the space down to zero. I suppose the next question would be how long before they would be back - because they seem to be there to stay. And if you're staying on top of that immediate area - that's probably doing better than most parts of the southern US. Best wishes!

Great shots. Is that chain link fence materail under the feeder to keep the hogs from rooting?
@tomhjr63 Жыл бұрын
Good eye buddy that is exactly what it is for. What you are seeing is a sheet of cattle panel or some people call it animal proof fencing. The square holes are 8” x 6”. We put that under all the feeders so the hogs will not rut a large hole there. We have heard of feeders falling over due to the rutting. Without the panel, hogs and raccoons will have a water hole or mud bath there in a very short time. Other animals tend not eat water soaked corn. Sometimes we put down two pieces of panel to keep the holes even smaller. Thanks again for your comment and thanks for watching.

@@tomhjr63 I’m curious : they are a horribly invasive species in the states , apart from shooting are there other systems to reduce their population eg sterilisation , introduction of disease ?
@tomhjr632 жыл бұрын
@@fizzel5711 Yes, trapping is very popular here in Texas, also hunting from helicopters is another way to rack up a few in a short time. Some people go in large groups and all start shooting at the same time trying to take out the entire sounder. Try searching You Tube for hog trapping or helicopter hog hunting. We are not allowed to put out any poisons or other chemical because of the safety of all the birds and other animals that would feed on the dead hog, there would be what they call “By Kills” on other animals.
