I think that traction is more dependent on the tires (winter) than 4 wheel drive system.

Umm, you must use "Snow mode" AND turn on the "Lock" mode (center button). I would be awesome if reviewers actually READ the user manuals instead of assuming how the AWD systems work. Of coarse, using snow tires instead of all season tires would also make a big difference. Knowing HOW to drive in the snow instead of just playing around would also help.

Yeah for demonstration purposes you should really show all settings not just one. Ex. Show your vehicle with the smart AWD only and if you have the snow feature or not (my 2019 does not have a snow feature) and how well it does until you get stuck then apply the AWD lock and see if you can either free yourself from a stuck position or at least make it through with some momentum. I'm honestly curious how well my Sorento will do in the snow it has done pretty good so far but we have only gotten snow twice here in Iowa and this last snow fall I didn't have the vehicle to take it to and from work since it was with my wife while she was visiting her mom and she didn't want to drive in the snow with our son.

Great video. Were you in snow mode the whole time? Did you try the other modes or turn the traction control off? With proper winter tires I'm sure it would do even better.

I've got a sorento identical to this one. It has where you can lock in all 4 wheels at slow speeds. I wish he demonstrateed that feature, but apparently wasn't aware of it.

@@robglobal1 Love it. Drove MANY mid size and full size SUVs, including V6s. The 2.5 turbo in the Sorento has way more kick and just plain "fun factor" than the V6s. The tech package and interior set up dwarf the competition. And the blind spot cameras are pure gold

@@blagoyavichrod good to know! I'm debating between the prestige, jeep willys, rav 4 and lexus nx. All are VERY different vehicle so it's making it hard to decide but leaning towards the prestige caus of the gas mileage being decent but also having the power which none of the others have unless I can find a rav 4 prime which would be my top choice but impossible to find. They're marking the prestige up about 3-5k here in CT so that's making it hard to pull the trigger

I just bought the 2020 Santa Fe 2.0T AWD and it’s amazing. Sure, doesn’t have the 2.5 l turbo but honestly I’m not missing it. I came from a 2013 2.0T Santa Fe sport but won’t be disappointed. I would suggest driving both. I have watched tons of video reviews and some have said the sorento is noisy compared to the Santa Fe. I love the way the sorento looks tho!

The issue with AWD is that it puts pressure diagonally on the least pressure/friction tires, meaning it'll hang up real easy. >Great for flat surfaces, not so great for mud and snow. Don't worry, most brands does this unless specified 4-wheel drive. A 1990's Subaru Legacy 4WD would demolish this. I guarantee it.

If you mean diagonal wheels on the air, then I have seen a video with a Sorento travelling over undulating off road tracks. The wheels in the air spin for a second or so and then the traction control kicks in and switches full drive to the wheels touching the ground. The driver did this several times on the dirt track. The wheels were about 6 or 8 inches off the ground. I have a diesel awd Sorento GT Line here in Australia for about 5 months now. Absolutely Love It....

I think in all fairness you took the SUV off road with all season radials and not all terrain tires which really isn’t fair. I think the stock tires are great for the roadways covered in snow but not actually going off road with deep snow.

I am torn between this and a Camry xse awd. If I'm being selfish, I'd get the Camry. But I always have passengers and live off-grid (1 mile of dirt road) *also really like the crash test rating on this.

The tow hook location is hidden by a pop out square plastic piece on the front and rear bumper. the hook is a metal closed circle hook with a screw end that you screw into the hook location inside the front or rear bumper and that s where you tow from

@@SamCarLegion your outside shot shows you applying the brakes when you got "stuck" but when you went back through a potentially deeper area you went through just fine. It seems like a lack of skill in the snow may be the issue or you did it for the video.

This is not the snow you should test cars on I think. Cause usually drivers have problems with traction either in deep snow or packed snow which is more like ice. Or in deep wet snow.

It’s not just about depth of the snow, it’s also about quality parts, like; can the car take 3 hours of snow drive? How well does the transmission handle? Does it overheat? Things like that. I also did drive it in deep icy areas, or uphills with snow.

@@SamCarLegion 3 hours, really? In Norway or Finland "snow drive" is way longer, for about 6-7 months. Snow doesn't affect on quality parts... Transmission overheat? In winter, R U serious?

@@calvinsc5105 i used to live in Fi. There are lots of snow, but they clean it very effective. So ppl use chains etc everywhere snow isn't cleaned, like in Ukraine.

it's not a good offroad vehicle, the dual-clutch and traction system fuck everything up, within 30-mins a warning popped up on the screen saying the transmission was hot and to stop! I'm glad I took one for a test drive before buying it, the previous 3.5V6 model was light years ahead in terms of off-roading,

I would like to see a comparison in deep off road snow with the 2022 Outlander. It has 1 inch more ground clearance 8.3. Vs Kia and AWC vs Kia AWD.
