This is such an overlooked car. Way more beautiful in person. I picked up a CPO RC 350F-Sport RWD for 31K. I have owned 3 BMW's and do not miss the repair costs. Granted the Bimmers and Merc's may have more tech and be quicker, but over the long-term, they are way too costly to maintain. So far, my Lexus has only had basic maintenance. Nothing has broken. I actually get compliments on it as well. I plan to keep it for the long-haul.

I owned a 2013 ES350 for 2 years. 2nd owner and owned it from 2018-20, didn’t put one dime into for repairs. Only 2 oil changes. This RC is an amazing car. They are rarer than a corvette. On the fence on getting a RCF or a C7 Corvette manual non Z51. I’ll be retiring in 5 years so I’ll have plenty of time to decide.

Lexus IS king of reliability and luxury. I owned a 2013 ES350 for 2 years from 2018-20 and didn’t put one dime into for repairs. Only 2 oil changes. Sold it for financial reasons and bought my current 2002 ES300 from the original owner. Car is amazing. Fit and finish is unparalleled. This RC is an amazing car. They are rarer than a corvette. On the fence on getting an RCF or RC 350 F sport RWD. I’ll be retiring in 5 years so I’ll have plenty of time to decide. Definitely won’t be the AWD like this one, don’t need the extra weight and the 6 speed auto is not the one for this car.

Great review and nails the car but they are beautiful and still a great drive. Add 500k mile reliability, excellent build quality and none of the longer term maintenance costs of the Germans you got a great value proposition.

THAT COLOR COMBO ON THE RC 🤩 The 4-series & C-class are awesome but I’m not a snob nor do I want to deal with German car repair bills 💸 ..and why are they always black, gray, silver or white 🤷🏽‍♂️ ! Plus the 4 doesn’t offer ventilated seats so..👎🏽 ...and honestly, who’s really racing and carving corners in any of these ? ...1%

I mean. The newer BMWs aren’t bad at all especially the B48 and B58 engines they have in them. The B48(2.0t) and B58(turbo inline6) in the bimmers were actually tested by Toyota themselves and it passed to be put in the new Supra. They’re quite solid engines, but yeah with every German or any euro car is the cost to service and do regular maintenance and/or something outside of regular maintenance happens it’s going to be expensive either way, but it’s worth it in my opinion.

@@fldashxam if you want a better performance, get anything European, unless it’s the LFA of course. But these cars just look and feel good with no big maintenance. That’s it

No one is trying to race anyone, just a nice comfort ride and reliability to keen to get one.

Like you said, this is a hard sell if you just go by specs and numbers, but this is a car that makes it easy to excuse all that. This is one of those cars we won't really miss until it's gone, like the GS. Sure future Lexus vehicles will smoke all their past models in a straight line (LFA may be an exception) but will they still have the old school Japanese craftsmanship and attention to detail? I think the 4th-5th gen LS and GS were the pinnacle of Lexus, but some will disagree and prefer dark gray leather and plastics to inky black..and prefer having lcd screens across the whole dashboard etc..but I'm not one of them.

It may have a platform that's now showing it's age, it may not push the envelope for performance, tech or perceived value versus the nearest competition...but I'd choose a loaded RC over a base Merc, BMW or Audi even if their standard features list comes dangerously close to matching the loaded Lexus. Why? For me every day driveability and reliability are luxuries in and of themselves..and can't even be optioned in the other cars. Oh, and the fact this thing still looks killer and performs better than 90% of the cars on the road with you are just bonuses in my book. Do I want a garage queen that I mostly use to pose around town or a car I can throw a few soft sided bags in the back and head out for a multi-state road trip with nothing more than an oil change and checking the other fluids and tire condition? Yeah, you already know my choice, but to each their own.

I guess that's going to be the new universal excuse for Lexus being 10 years behind, reliability. It's nonsense. This and the IS are both missing features that you can get on a Camry. This about Lexus not adopting tech is for the sake of reliability is nonsense. The LS has a turbo V6 which is what this car and the IS350 need. Reliability should be high when you're using the same V6 from 2006!!!

I think toyota needs to rethink on interiors when it comes to lexus if it wants to compete with luxury brands. Germans even Hyundai are light years ahead. Or just price accordingly, $8K less than the competition.

It is still a great vehicle. Still, that infotainment really is bad. I take this over a BMW or Mercedes or Audi coupe, if I am buying. If I am leasing I take the Germans.

Infotainment isn't that bad. I have XM and put a USB drive in the vehicle. To change between them, I use voice commands and never touch the pad. Incredible stereo and speakers. Can blow me out of the car if I crank it up. The car is fast and handles fantastic.
