@@KamoheloRamone Being 65, I think the value of "sporty" depends on one´s age. That is why I just bought a new Skoda Octavia. On the other hand, I wouldn´t dream of buying af VW Golf: Too much "soft hat" and "moist cigar" to look at.

Why does every reviewer want all the cars to be exciting sports cars, I think most people want comfort and relaxation. They always speak of a comfortable car as being a negative. It just blows my mind.

exactly. If i wanted a fun car i certainly would no be getting a skoda octavia... I would have a secondary sports car. For every day You want comfort and relaxation. WHy make a family car sporty is beyond me. If a car is a jack of all trades, it is a master of none.. nuff said

Have got vrs diesel and had it 2 years..lovely lovely motor,as you said bloke is overly negative and i get 60mpg on a long run and nearly 50 round town.. this reviewer is a real bunghole.

Harsh review. The styling is just classy, subtle and sophisticated with great details, not boring. The interior is great too. Now the Karoq has taken the lead, this has become the interesting one.

Picking up the estate in a couple of weeks once work is completed on the passenger seat for my wife. It's one of the few vehicles you can get that the original seat can be used while a swivel base is fitted, my wife uses a wheelchair and finds it brilliant. Plus that massive boot just swallows the wheelchair without having to take the wheels off and it's low enough that you are not having to lift over a high bumper like in an SUV. Hopefully they'll make something similar in an EV.

I never got it why people love crossovers so much - they are not as stable on roads, consumes more fuel, usually pared with larger tires which are more noisy and expensive too ....

It's odd, how many journalists say it's dull styling and cabin more practical than stylish, it looks better than alot of cars in its segment inside and out, with much better quality products used, especially wen u pay what u do for it.

Totally agree, the Octavia interior is far more stylish than its VW counterpart, and that’s coming from someone who spent months looking at cars recently for my new car.

Why does it have to be exciting? If you are trying to make a point that it doesn't have to be, then don't mention it 100 times during the video. It will just turn people away and they will miss out on a great car.

True that and it's taste. I really do like this car. Great bang for the buck. I find it this model much more appealing then the Golf or the Leon. From my point of view it's a very classy car. With a lot of space. I'm 1.96mtr.. so I really appreciate the space in the Octavia. I've ordered one and with a bit of luck receive it next week. Can't wait.

I sold my 2017 fiesta st3 that was my daily driver and replaced it with the skoda superb 2.0 tdi SEL DSG estate .I found the desirability part the reason I sold the fiesta and bought the skoda , I spent over 1000 pounds on additional security for the fiesta as I was worried about it being stolen every time I parked it up somewhere. As an ex skoda mechanic I have no problem with the skoda badge I would much prefer to have the skoda on my drive than say an audi a6 estate .im less likely to find a group of hooded men in my house looking to steal my skoda than I am a audi a6 .if snobs don't like the badge that's their problem not mine ,ive still got the better car and it cost me a whole lot less . Winner winner chicken dinner 😃

I dont understand and dont agree. Image problem you say.... this is one of the most sold cars in Europe and have been now for many years. It’s respected and loved by many people. Why..... because what you get for the money and because it never fails on you. It keeps you On the move every day. I am sorry but i dont agree with the image problem. That was over 20 years ago.

You are reviewing a Skoda Octavia and nearly expecting it to be a Ferrari and complaining when it's not exciting. It is an exceptional family car that provides brilliant comfort and reliability and is extremely good value.

Good review. But why double camera angle with the presenter not looking in to the camera. I'm not finding a side if head shot at all engaging. This style of camera angle went out on the 1990's!

Over time, on long distances, "Sporty" can get irritating as a hard suspension can be jarring and the steering can require more vigilance.

I really don't understand these reviewers....how TF this Octavia doesn't stand out with its looks but the bland and freaking boring Audi A4 stands out? Again, why compare the interior with an Audi A4 that costs a lot more? How is the interior more bland, who judges that? Are you, mister presenter a stylist, a...trend-setter or what? How can you say it is more bland than an Audi A3/A4 interior? I find it nicer for example than the Audi interior. Am I mad? I think this review is made on a wrong mindset really. The octavia is a comfortable sedan and it is what 95% of the people want. Badge snobbery is bad for being included in the deal breakers, as if...it would really matter.

@@georgedowns4034 yes, but these british reviewers use the same stereotypes as always. Skoda is good value for money, but is boring. Golf drives well, but...wait for it, the almighty ford focus drives better. As a matter of fact I have driven both the ford focus and other hatches and I don't understand why all british reviewers say it is the best since the steering is over assisted and you can't understand anything from it, the pedals have no modulation, so on and so forth. Not even starting to talk about the entire engine lineup being 3 cylinder. If it was other brand that was doing this they would say it is a deal breaker. But no, ford is the best even if it comes with a lawnmower engine, heck, even without a steering wheel it drives the best. Cause it is freaking british. My problem with their opinion is that it is based on stereotypes and other reasons like with ford, ford being a loved brand like jaguar in the uk, so they praise it more than it deserves. What does skoda needs to be seen as a sporty car? Elerons at the back? Wings? 25 inch wheels? A rocket at the back? If you look at the ford focus review it will say that it looks sporty and the interior is amazing. So what I want is subjective but HONEST opinion, not biased.

There probs are some genuine people watching this that would like to get a large hatch that is good to drive but I think everyone knows Skoda is not the one.

Fed up with all these car reviewers always comparing a car to an Audi. Of course an Audi is going to be a better quality as they are usually about £10k more. Also you can tell when they have no Interest in the car they are reviewing, as the negative comments start straight away.

While Skoda, VW and Audi are all under the "Volkswagen Automotive Group" tent, is it _really_ fair to mark down the Octavia for not being as stylish as an Audi? Considering the types of customers these brands traditionally attract, I'd agrue not! The majority of Skoda custoners place a much higher value on practicality and value-for-money, which this Octavia delivers in spades. And it's fair to say that most Audi customers want something that looks, feels and drives well while still having class-competetive practicality and efficiency, if not as much as a Skoda. The Skoda may not be stylish, but it looks smart and inoffensive, which is traditionally something Skoda customers have appreciated. Often plain, but never ugly. Like this guy said earlier in the video, this Octavia is "probably all the car most families will need", and in that light, the Skoda team absolutely nailed their design brief! Easily an 8/10 car.

I'm choosing between A3 and Octavia for a company car. A3 does have a nice feel, but its kinda cramped, the dash vents look a bit weird and some parts are hard plastic. The infotainment also doesnt really scream premium.

Too much badge snobbery on this channel for my liking. If Skoda cars were so undesirable why do they sell so many after all it's only a Audi with a Skoda badge on. Skoda finished third overall in the customer satisfaction survey and by far the most reliable in the VW group.

Skoda are making the same mistake ford did a while back. Over pricing their cars for the working man . Skoda like ford used to be cheap not any more also not every body wants or needs all these high technology gimmicks. My wife has the family car. It’s an octavia vrs estate. Bought with 9K miles on it. It’s not at 78K miles. As a beater it’s been fine, but everything about it is cheap. How can a car with the underpinnings of the golf GTI be so poor to drive? If you don’t want fun, with a noisy cabin and really poor traction, this is the car for you. Plus point, you can transport your whole house in the boot.

Had one of these for a year now..average only...full of stupid toys and gizmos you never use...annoying fiddly tempremental and dangerous control screen...bring back buttons.....yet no useful things such as a rear wiper or dimming mirror..things you actually need. How do you connect a dashcam....no 12v socket in front..most cams come with 12v connection only..i dont want to hard wire. Does have usb...Disappointing car overall...one benefit..sips fuel..and huge boot...but thats it.

I doubt this presenter know anything but Audi, bmw and this car is great yet he compares to sporty, typical. I thought he and his review are DULL!!!

I am about to trade my Octavia in. I enjoyed the car and you can get it to move rather quickly with the 1.8 turbo. At the traffic light drag, the DSG will win you most of runs with similar engine sized cars and scare cars with larger engines. But the real scare comes if something goes wrong with the car and you are faced with a warrentee claim. The company will not support you. And so I will not be going with another Skoda. I will be "simply clever" and buy another brand. As did my sons, my daughter-in-law, two of my mates and the couple next door.

What's with the shots of the bloke looking past the camera???? Is that meant to be artful production/directing?! You're doing a sub-8 minute youtube about a car, for God's sake, not vying for an academy award. It just looks more amateurish than it should.

You could have replaced all the 100% meaningless-to-literally-everyone "unexciting" bits with more useful insight on the equipment and how it actually drives. This "bored reviewer" review turns out to be quite positive in fact, given that personal taste is, as I just wrote, completely pointless. Beside this, I do like the style and it's certainly way more original and exciting than the Golf or Seat Leon...

18 inch wheels are nightmare on potholes and there is a lot of them where I live. Pair this car with 16 inch wheels/rims and it will not look as impressive (actually ugly). One thing is that they do not offer titan blue in all countries.
