I dont really mind the retheme tbh. Its gonna be the same drop and layout so i dont really care, but i will admit to missing the music.

@@AMagicProduction the only thing that’s good about screens IMO is that the rides will be easier to maintain and can be fixed quickly and remotely for when the ride breaks down.

I am very depressed. I went to Disneyland with my parents and such, but they didn’t let me go on splash mountain 😭 because they didn’t want to get drenched. I’m never going to be able to ride the original ride 😢

Re theme got cancelled for the Disneyland park, nobody knows when it will happen at this point. If it ever does.

@@salomonrael8117 the ride is based on the animated sequences of the 1946 movie Song of the South. Of course the movie has racist stereotypes. It was made in 1946. None of those stereotypes are portrayed on the ride. Disney is smarter that that. Just as most people think the movie is racist, most people think the ride is a classic. I'm sad to see it changed.

Br'er Bear is a racist caricatures of a stereotypical Bubba character.br'er Rabbit is an all around offensive portrayal that is meant to represent the stereotype that black men are lazy. The song that plays on the ride is literally SUNG BY "UNCLE REMUS" (AKA JUST A RE-NAME OF THE UNCLE TOM STEREOTYPE. We are not being "sensitive." We are just tired of yall white people letting these stereotypes slide just bc they make a cute ride. Stop using the fact that it was the 40s as an excuse, the stereotypes of the 40s still have a negative impact today, and will continue to have a negative impact until we right all of the wrongs from that time period, and stop promoting them as entertainment. Listen to poc, look past your privilege, and do better. And understand: Black. Lives. Matter.

It's not the first drop or the last drop that gets you really wet It's the third drop that's in the dark and comes up unexpectedly. And it almost doesn't matter where you sit. Love this ride anyway

Nice footage as always. I was just there on Friday. I got a log to myself, which made it so much lighter than a full log that it apparently didn't cut through the water as effectively as normal, so at the end of the final drop, it slowed down so abruptly that I SLID FORWARD in my seat and nearly nutcrackered myself on the backrest in front of me. First time that's happened to me.

All I can say is if I don't have as fun on the retheme as much as I do on Splash Mountain (yes I know it's the same layout and ride system but, music and heart are a factor here too) I'd have no reason to visit Critter Country other than to pass on my way to Galaxy's Edge

As soon as I heard the announcement when you started going, I got a lump in my throat! I am so excited that Disneyland is now open and hopefully this year I will be able to make it there! It would be awesome if I could make it there next month with my family as it is my 25th Anniversary of being married to my wife the week after the tentative June 15th date, and Disneyland is where we spent our honeymoon. However, the last time we went to anything Disney was WDW back in 2019. To tell you the truth, I like both versions of Splash Mountain, but I prefer the logs at Disneyland since I can stretch my legs out! ;) Thanks for an awesome video LMG!!!

No I don’t like nostalgia, but personally you should see both movies, because I think that SOTS is better than POTF, but that’s my opinion. Also, what is with people saying just because the theme is changing, we shouldn’t be mad? What is splash mountain without the SOTS theme? Just a regular log flume, that’s what. We are upset for a reason, so before you go around saying laughing my ass off ass off ass off, maybe see our reasoning too.

@@foggy2825 i would watch sots but i don't think it's on streaming platforms for free and i don't feel like paying for it. the only time i was upset about a retheme was ca screamin, but that did end up being better as the incredicoaster. i did read the replies and i honestly still don't get it. it's a racist movie from what i've heard and seen. and when it's rethemed, there's obviously gonna be new animatronics, and a new storyline, so i think it'll be interesting. then again, i'm probably much younger than the people who are actually upset about it, so that probably plays a part in my confusion.

it'll happen. if you compare this ride to WDW, it's clear that this ride needs a refurb. everything is old/broken compared to WDW.

@@VegasGoldenJediKnight i don’t think that has much to do with it, Disney is in no position to close an E-Ticket/Classic within the next 2 years. They need to focus on recovering from being closed for a year and a half, not spend millions in a hurry to avoid twitter. Disneys still a corporation, i think they just whipped up a quick concept art to ease the backlash.

Disney officials didn’t just wake up one day and realize the connection between splash mountain and song of the south. Your incorrect if you think the re-theme announcement was anything other than a response to the polls and constant tweets at disney. Dude, awesome settings and color correction. Love your videos, but dang how have you gone this long without realizing you should edit out your random outbursts and talking. You’re not saying enough to merit background narration so the random burts of comments is super distracting to the attraction. Take this note for what it’s worth if you want to level up your videos, in my opinion. #bigfan

I usually run it by people before I post videos, sometimes videos will have random cuts since they believe the video would be better without certain audio. For this video, we all thought it was funny so I decided to keep it in. If it is disturbing to you I can try to cut it out of videos more often 👍

No, they just announced that the ride would be changing later on down the line. From what I understand, they don’t plan to shut down the Splash Mountain for another 2-3 years.

This would be better for the retheme here rather than at WDW since the rides pacing would help you see the scenes better than in Florida, should’ve left splash alone in Florida

Before yall comment something stupid about the re-theme, you need to understand some things: SM is based off of Song Of The South, a movie in which several characters (including briar fox and brair bear) are based of of racist stereotypes that harm black people. The entire film revolves around a stereotypical figure named Uncle Remus, who is an example of the "uncle tom" character that was found throughout blackface plays. Although it is a staple of Disney, this re-theme will bring a MUCH needed change to the way we see entertainment. And before you say anything about "this isn't what Walt wanted" understand that Walt Disney was LITERALLY. A. NAZI. So please do some research before committing.
