@@BimmerWon as luck has it, i will have to wait to March 2022….Canada has 3 cars (2021 model), none of my choice of colours and earliest delivery being Feb 2022….so, might as well go for 2022 model…

Some rust on the muffler is common even on brand new cars - the muffler and other exhaust components can not be painted or coated as they get extremely hot and will burn off the paint and any coatings applied to it. That's why when you go for an undercoating at any 3rd party, they will avoid coating the exhaust components. The exhaust pipes might end up with a hole due to the rust after 5-6 years, but the muffler usually takes a little while longer to rust through as its made out of thicker metal. Catalytic converters are also constructed out of thicker metal and sometimes have an added casing in some vehicles. Any of these components can be patched up or completely replaced at a good mechanic when the rust finally puts a hole through any of them (which can take many years if you wash the underside properly after encountering salt or brine on the winter roads).

To add to that (not sure if this car has it) but alot of modern cars come with stainless steel exhausts!
