Күн бұрынWe take a close and in depth look at the 2021 SYM Maxsym 400. Totally new model for this year. I was not too sold on the design choice especially the with and the seat height but once you get it on the road it really does come alive. The dynamics really surprised me on this one. The combination of a powerful engine, responsive transmission and agile handling really make it much more chuckable and entertaining then a scooter of it's weight has any right to be. Top notch scooter all round and a worthy barer of the Maxsym name.

Hi there, here in Brazil I have a 2019 Maxsym. Before that, I had a VStrom 650, but unfortunately we have a serious security problem, so I bought a Maxim that's no the bandit want and it was a nice surpraise, I use it for daily and travel ride. It was a good decision.

To be honest I like the stock exhaust, I would not change it.

What about the driving position? Does it feels better than the jet x?

I can't say which is better because they 2 completely different scooters, just the weight the 400 is 100kg heavier also it's 3 times more powerful. For the city i still maintain the 400 is too powerful and you don't need that much power. I wouldn't get the 400 for city riding. Maybe for long distance trips or if my ride to work includes 30-40 km of highway.

One more question: what is your feeling in the area of quality ( workmanship, elements alignment etc ) when comparing this SYM scooter to the Kymco products ( like Xciting 400 ) ?

If we are talking about the maxsym line-up both the 400 and the 508 they are some of the best feeling scooters on the market. They feel solid and well put together. Unfortunately kymco doesn't have a proper presence here so my time with the big kymco scooters is very limited.

Hey, id like to ask if you think , is this more value than daytona maverick 500 ? I dont want off road riding just in town and trips with pillon. What do you think ? Are the motorcycles that are 500 cc valuable versus the scooters for those intentions ? Or the scooters are just better than motorcycles under 600cc ? Thanks !!

Some people like the sensations of a motorcycle, to have the engine between their legs, to use the clutch and change gears, etc. But if you want city riding and trips with a pillion i would go for the maxsym. A scooter is always better in traffic more maneuverable, you have a lot more storage space, the transmission is very smooth the weather protection is better then a motorcycle. For what you asked I would go with the maxsym.

May I ask for your assessment of the (specific by itself) noise of the CVT transmission when driving at the 100-120 km/h speed? I mean - when driving with a speed of 80-100 km/h with my CVT 125ccm Kymco - I can hear a very annoying sound of the transmission which is partly related to the low power of this scooter vs. speed level but also it is related to the CVT specifics. How would You rate the SYM 400 in comparison to Kymco 125 in this area?

Transmission whine is something normal in scooters, but once you go above 300cc the transmissions are much stronger and bigger and the whine quiets right down. 125-200cc scooters are known to whine. Even my Symphony ST 200 starts to whine at over 80kmh but it's normal so it doesn't bother me.

In case that the keyless didn't work how you can start the Scooter?

Unfortunately the only thing I could find is that the smartkey flashes it's red LED when the battery is low so you know to change the battery on the key. But I couldn't find a way to start the scooter is the keyless system is broken, a backup method.

Destul de greu de spus fără a putea sa le pun live unul lângă altul, dar încă nu am notorietatea sa pot sa le cer celor de la Honda un scuter pt un comparativ :))). Dar dacă ne luam după specificații cel puțin la motor Maxsym-ul are 30% mai mult cuplu decât Honda. Și intradevar motorul se simte foarte elastic și puternic. L-a ride m-a impresionat, experienta este dominata de acel cuplu de 40NM și felul în care te arunca în față când ii dai gaz mai agresiv. Oricum pt orice rider primul comparativ începe în funcție de cum stai pe el și asta depinde de constituția fiecăruia. Personal eu as merge pe Sym din cauza motorului, creează dependenta acel cuplu și felul în care este livrată puterea :)))

I don't think that the front compartments being unlockable is really an issue as most locks are just a plastic device which is snapped easiily by a casual thief. I know this to my cost and its an unnecessary hassle to get it repaired. Better to put anything under the seat and just use the front boxes for emergencies.

I had s Yamaha xmax 300 2019 model still with low mileage but I'm quiet interested to buy the maxxsym 400i 2021 model because of the power 34 horse power and it is legal to used on our country Philippines on express way pay toll below 400cc are not allowed only on service road and street city driving

Salutare. Are cumva si senzor de temperatura exterioara? Pare un model f interesant, cam incearca sa copieze (cred) bmw c400 gt. Cu cat vad mai multe recenzii, imi place mai mult. Pacat de bord, daca era unul electronic (ca la 400 gt) cred ca era si mai atractiv. Sincer... bordul asa de colorat, chiar nu imi place, dar asta tine doar de gusturi 🙂

Salut, nu are senzor de temperatura exterioara. Sincer nu cred ca au copiat bmw-ul, am mers pe bmw de curând și este mult mai mic și mai compact, maxsym ul se simte considerabil mai greu și masiv, mai a tanc.

Cum ti se pare bmw-ul in comparatie cu maxim? In termeni de putere motor, frane, inaltimea sea? Eu merg pe in nexus de 250 cc si ma bate gandul sa trec la 400. Imi place f mult c400 dar e cam f scump, in comparatie cu maxim.

With a pasanger (90-100kg pasanger) the suspension sags enough that I can almost flat foot it 🤣

Hard to say, i think the TL rides a bit smother but they are really close.

A bit of vibration at very low speed, but nothing out of the ordinary, apart from that I didn't notice any excessive vibrations

Not really, they have 2 completely different mounting systems.

@@takis4954 Didn't look to be honest, I am not of fan of loud exhausts as I like to do long trips, and a long trip with a loud exhaust is very painful.

suspension lets you down BIGTIME on the XMAX......I had one and WONT buy one again because of that! EVERY kymco I have owned had superb suspension.

with all due respect this is a catastrophe in terms of design. its ugly as hell. small fat too high. in our country I have only seen 1 in 2 years. they should have taken the older maxsym 400/600 design and given it a modern body. more aggressive front face. the back looked really great but this ugly generic from face with 3 bulbs is hideous. I realize they stopped with ms600 sales as it wasnt a great seller. great scooter, but 600cc is for a select few who want it. so they have the tl508 and this ugly ms400. no key/fob is a big problem for scooters. they used handlebar grips from joyride hahaha. I recognize those. this isnt for taller people. you have chunky legs so its why you dont have reach. its made for your height and my heigh182. but its DEFINITELY not made for tall riders. they will have no place to extend feet and wont be able to bring rear backrest back enough. 178-183 perfect size.
