It ticks all the boxes if we consider it as a rugged MUV. An SUV has to have an AWD or 4WD.

It is a good package but it does feels like a plus version of Harrier. TATA did a great job with 3rd row of seats. Everything is good and manageable but it lacks somewhere here and there to call it as flagship or iconic car for the brand.

Tata could've made the 2021 Safari more appealing to the customers by accommodating features such as sunblinds, wireless charging, better infotainment, Auto start/stop, ventilated seats, LED headlamps, Rear view monitor with quality camera feed and all. But, to prove itself as an urban SUV, I feel Tata should've integrated more features instead of just releasing the Gravitas with some tweaks here and there. When the company intended to release a legendary offroader as an urban player, they should've concentrated on what that particular urban buyer would demand in the first place. Why I'm saying this is because the competitors have understood the game and are adapting themselves to it while Tata even after knowing what they should do are settling for what they thought primarily and not doing what they should've done in general to pull more customers towards their products. I think this should be addressed.

Awesome unbiased Review. Being a Nexon owner, feel proud to see the growth of Tata Motors in recent years. But I feel, they missed the bus with the Harrier launch by not introducing the automatic with its launch and now two great mistakes, one by giving the legend "Safari" name to just an extended Harrier and second by not giving AWD even as an option. As a true Tata fan, I feel extremely sad. I hope they bring out the so-called Safari with the AWD, otherwise it does not do justice to the EMOTION called Safari. Hope they are listening.

Nice review. I remember commenting in Harrier review that it was the only Tata car after Safari which I really liked, and now they are the same! So I assume Gravitas is shelved or basically renamed as Safari.

This is not at all safari...Safari is rugged...Tata started with a idea of 7 seater Harrier and named it "Gravitas" ...they should've gone for that name itself...Last minute name change to "safari" is a bad idea because safari has some unique features from other tata cars..if they're about to bring back new gen safari then they should have planned well...Harrier is harrier...safari is safari...

Vikrant sir . Suggest me the better buy interms of ride quality, comfort , safety and worth for money. Innova gx AT vs safari . I checked the boot space but couldn't find it😌 and I'm not sure tata would come up with an solution on the roof. But I have to book one 7 seater now

ladder of frame is a thing of past. Tata won't bring a new ladder of frame architecture, because they already have hexa lof architecture.Monocoque chasis is future of suv.Toyota hilux architecture is not safe than safari architecture, because pickups are not good at handling,though they are very good.like fortuner,endeavour is also based on ranger pickup platform.I think tata will also use omega platform for cheap range rover imo.

Very Negative review to a great product What's this big fuss all over there being no 4×4.Do 99 percentile who purchase a 4× 4 make use of it, or leave alone using it do they really know what a 4×4 is? This is a modern Land rover derived SUV ,comfortable 7 seater, powerful with great ride and dynamics , lovely interiors ,the best product from Tata, what else do you want? Do you only reclaim your life when you use an SUV to cross a river or dance over a bunch of boulders. And tumbling the seat for a captain seat variant to reach 3rd row is so stupid. You better use the space between the two seats. Unfortunate.Very biased review by Carwale.

As usual great work by you vikrant and whole team. I would have loved if tata would have kept the name safari for a proper replacement for old safari. But ultimately it's just a name. The new safari is good at what it is. Hopefully there will be new star born with a proper replacement for old safari. LSD is also one important the new safari does not have which old safari had 😁

New safari has electronic traction control which is surprisingly capable. When one wheel loses traction, the system applies brakes to that wheel, transferring power to the wheel with grip to pull you out of the situation.

Grt8 Review Vikrant Sir..I think they shud have called this Harrier+ instead of Safari. I bought Harrier XZ on Dec 2020. I agree to the Point u made about the steering handling, it should be viceversa to how it is now currently, be light in Low speeds and be more stiff on high speeds is the ideal combination. Also, I agree not all 7 seaters can justify for the cargo space for all the passengers and thats the reason i went for Harrier, which looks better and the boot will easily carry 5 people luggage and more engaging to drive as well. The other think that i find hard is the sensitivity of the horn, u, really have to press hard for the horn to go off. And Lastly, i think the rear mirror of the harrier is very small compared to the dimension of the car. Rest all, I just love to spend time and drive the car. I always looked for your version of Harrier, but could never find one.

Very nice Review. True the old Safari was great for the go anywhere concept. But then why the sales dropped. I think the needs are evolving and the companies are looking at the size of the market for that segment. Also I have a feeling that Tata is aligning all its cars to the alpha and omega arc platforms. So they can focus more on improving their product quality with time. One thing all would agree would be the amazing looks of the Tata Safari. Too good

Kuddos keep tat was an awesome review .. I hope yo are the first one told about the suspension type , I never seen any reviewer told about the type in any car .. but there is one point missing it’s single wishbone macpershon strut ( kind of good ) , would be even better if they got dual wishbone and multi link or 4 link on the rear .. infotainment placement is good and quality is bad .. other than that on the improvements ( top marks goes to elec brakes , beige colour and black interior , torque converter .. few improvements ( automatic gear nob can be smaller to make to premium , steering to changed as electric its little more heavy , 4 wheel drive as the top option at least ..

Great inputs there! And the only comment I would make here is regarding the suspension. Your suggestion is a good one, of course. It’s the more refined choice. But it also costs a lot more. And that’s why not many choose a double wishbone front and a multi link rear.

Extremely disappointed with Tata for marketing the Harrier Plus as a Safari, but I'm sure it will help in increasing the sales figures. Wonder what stopped them from providing a top of the line AWD variant for those willing to buy one.

For one. Hardly any one wanted a 4x4 in the older Safari. And unlike the older car where 4WD hardware was less sophisticated and therefore cheap, the new one would have been an on demand, smart one. And therefore expensive. But yeah, they should have gone for some other name for sure instead of the Safari.

Vikrant Sir, as the price has revealed for the Safari. there is a difference of 1.56 lakh compared to Hector 7 Seater select variant and Safari XZ+. so the on-road price difference in my city is around 2 lakh. it is worth for the third row?

Only sad point is difficult to maintain white interior even though it appear very premium. If it offered with tan leather / black leather as harrier definitely good choice. As all of us know maitainence of white colour seats very very difficult in our weather conditions..

Space and comfort wise the Safari is certainly better. But in terms of look and feel and bells and whistles, I would say the Hector.

It doesn't have awd varient like jeep compass... Missing awd for an suv is useless

Guess the focus was to have an urban suv with the flexibility of seating seven. And an all wheel drive version would have been pricey.

I would agree. A different name would have given the SUV more positive press. And a new nameplate would have given Tata an opportunity to further harp about its design and tech and future readiness.

Eagerly waiting for the King.....iconic Mahindra Scorpio..new generation. Already own one since 2015....it's a great car.Although the 3rd row seat is very very good...you can compare it to kind of gas chamber and sometimes it wobbling like a boat...😅😅😅 but believe me it's a no nonsense car....it has a bulletproof engine which you can drive for hours and hours....extremely low maintenance cost....great car for extreme hilly terrains...very flexible someone can detach the 3rd row completely without any hassle...and then there is a small playground inside the cabin.Being a rwd it has many edges over it's competitors......the visibility is awesome....but there is a priceless bonus....ZERO star safety ratings...😎😎😎

Excellently put Vikrant!! Fantastic video!! I can pay to watch this kind of car review. It's a shame that this kind of content comes free whereas one has to pay 350 bucks for a soul numbing K**r** J**h** movie. Tata unnecessarily wasted the cult Safari mojo. Should have been nothing more than a Harrier+.

Fantastic car!! Not to compare with old safari! It is better than that, because whole underpinning are derived from Land Rover D8 platform, one thing I want to mention here is the third row is mainly for children, a six foot person sitting there and saying leg room low, head room low is looks idiotic. I owned tata safari (2008) tata aria(2011, still owning) and now harrier ( 2020, Automatic, waited for new 7 seater and finally bought harrier ), value for money cars 👍

This new Safari needs a 4wd to reclaim some of the magic of the original Safari. I am waiting for a 4wd version as I live in a hilly region where the terrain absolutely calls for a 4wd vehicle.
