I watched the first 3 rounds live and had a tournament Saturday, so I planned on watching the final round today. Even though I paid, there is no 4th round coverage on there like there is 1-3. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 paid for rounds 1-3 of a 4 round tournament

Most of the potential viewers(and therefore targets for the sponsors/ads) either has a family, job or timezone that makes it completely unrealistic to pay for, and sit down to watch 4h of TV in the middle of the day(night in europe) 4 days in a row. I don't care if there was a 2 day embargo or whatever, I'm used to avoiding spoilers - I just want to see normal post production. I'd even gladly pay Jomez(or gatekeeper, CCDG or whichever crew) $20 for the access to it. But I need to be able to watch 30 mins at a time, on my own schedule. And I'm pretty sure that's the case for 75% of potential viewers.

1. It was Innova forcing the extra charge 2. Disc golf viewership freaking exploded from 2020 to 2021 already 3. The growth in many ways outpaced what the organizations in disc golf could handle (this is why DGPT is taking over national now, and why some manufacturers are way behind production), and trying to build up some capitol to reinvest is the only way the sport can actually grow properly and not fall over itself 4. Charging PPV for this event isn't an issue as 99% of events have free post production and live final days already, but what could be an issue is if in Innova doesn't put those funds to good use. They made WAY more this weekend than they would have without PPV, what matters is how they spend that.

couldn't believe when I found out Innova sponsors this tourney. its fine for them to host / promote a tourney but if this sport is going to be taken seriously, they need governing bodies who run national and world championship tournaments. imagine Callaway hosting the US Open instead of the USGA....absurd

I was extremely happy not to pay anything at all, and did not watch the US Disc And Basket Champs. It was an excellent decision. I played disc golf instead! I doubt I'll bother watching when the free coverage comes out.

Yes very disappointed. I payed for the monthly subscription thinking I would get access to the live events. Nope pay 100 more dollars.

yep, I agree. Luckily I live 30 minutes from the course. Would never support a paid tv subscription that makes you pay on top of that for a ppv, that cuts off all the time.

it's not the paying for coverage that bothers me. It's the paying for coverage that isn't stable. this post-produced clip is so jumpy on Paul's Tee shot. it's so bad. We are paying for live production so they can afford to provide live production. it's backwards to me. They should be charging for live coverage after they have figured out how to successfully do it. I would pay for Jomez/CCDG/etc. before paying for shotty live coverage.

You mean DGN, not DGPT. And it was Innova’s PPV. I bought the PPV and was happy with it until the final round was a complete cluster.

It's Innova who controls the media rights for USDGC. It's their own tournament. DGN was just the streaming partner, while Innova controls the price and exclusivity rights and collects the money.

Yeah. That seems pretty rank, doesn't it? I guess with the state of golf disc availability being what it is, Innova simply do not care about insulting, annoying, and ripping off their customers. In fact, it looks like it's policy now. Buy RPM and Trilogy, and DD, then! Boycott Innova and Duscroft, because they both treat their customers like dirt.

There will be no free post production coverage at all. But with a DGN subscribtion the coverage can be viewed for "free" after 30 days. You can thank Innova for this PPV exclusivity, since they control the media rights and it's their tournament. It's kinda unfair DGN gets all the hate, when it's actually Innova who is behind all this for this specific tournament.

@@Chris.Davies Pro disc golf also has a small fraction of the sponsorships that ball golf does. Disc golf also doesn't have international TV deals with multiple networks either like ball golf does. Perspective is necessary here... The players absolutely do deserve more for their time and effort driving across the country but the sport simply isn't that big and it's unfair to compare disc golf to sports that are well established and have been around on International TV for decades.

Make it free with advertisements that will be seen by thousands more than a ppv event. Advertisers pay for eyes and ears but ppv limits those.

@@chucksherron If you hadn't noticed... Thats what they do every week already! Jomez, GK Pro, the DGN, etc. put up 'free' coverage on KZfaq of nearly every pro-level tournament. Plus so much other 'free' disc golf content on KZfaq. As disc golf fans, we already get loads of 'free' tournaments. The World Championships were free. The Pro Tour Championship this weekend is free. They had one tournament all year that is PPV and people lose their minds. It's was only $25. A little more than the cost of a premium disc.

I don't even count USDGC as disc golf. I call it the US Disc and Basket champs. Because it has some of the same features as disc golf, but it's not actually disc golf. And the PDGA agrees with me, not using ratings from the event.

USDGC is a major and is run by Innova. DGPT does have a deal with the youtube post-production teams for all of the pro tour events.
