@@finnormond9364 Yeah he said himself he didn’t want to talk about contracts during the season. I’m sure him and the Braves are just now processing how long he can be great for and then how long he can just be good for. Also if/when the DH will come into play but I think it’s like a 6 yr/170ish type deal with some type of option after 4th/5th year.

I keep watching highlights from this post season almost because it seems like a dream that the Braves pulled it off. I have been a die hard Braves fan since I was 4 years old in 1979 and they have given me great moments and heartbreak. As much as the 1995 win was amazing I think this one was sweeter because nobody thought they had the team to do it. A complete team effort with a different player coming up big almost every single game. While they had to choose an MVP and I get why Soler won it I think the real MVP was that Bullpen which was lights out time and time again the entire post season. They shut down powerhouse offense after powerhouse offense. It was old school Baseball at its best and proof that great pitching beats great hitting teams almost every single time. So proud of my Braves!!!

2021 World Series was definitely more special... we weren't expected to do anything after Acuna went down... the whole team made huge contributions to this dream session!

We are an individualist society, the US. It’s about personal glory first and group accomplishment after. Can you imagine them giving an MVP award to a committee of 10 bullpen pitchers? That would be as exciting as a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.
@gamble7778882 жыл бұрын
It's surreal, endless string of playoff disapointments, amazing teams that just didn't click when they had to, over 20 years of no major championships in the city of Atlanta... and this team that looked dead in the water after over half the season just found absolute magic. What a run. Every player coming up with huge at bats, incredible defense, key strikeouts,, just so many incredibly clutch plays to overcome a guantlet of powerhouse teams. The sweetest moment for me was getting past the Dodger team in game 6. The Eddie home run and the Matzek miracle inning are the greatest Braves memories for me. After that I just knew deep down the WS was in the bag.
@VenancioPortalatin2 жыл бұрын
@@gamble777888 Agreed, that Matzek inning was a huge catalyst to the teams confidence and momentum which in the post season is everything. Watching a different player seemingly step up every night was a sight to behold. That bullpen that looked ruff at the all star break all of a sudden started pitching lights out and when you have an offense like that with an amazing bullpen it's almost impossible to stop. Such an awesome season and I agree going through the dodgers to win it all made it even sweeter.

We did the same thing to them. Heavily favored with a juggernaut lineup and we not only beat em in 6, but we also shut them down with real pitching.

Same here. I was 13 in 95 & don’t remember much about it. Watching the highlights of this season brings me to tears every time I watch them. Such a story of triumph after so many past seasons of struggle. To have Anthopoulos take the reigns & make the deals necessary to get them from 44 wins at the all star break to where they could have the best record after the all star break to start the amazing run in the playoffs will go down as some of the best management ever.
@atl73402 жыл бұрын
Listened to around 150 games or so this season, it usually ended with our bullpen blowing the lead, but they showed up when it mattered most and all the heartbreak made it worth it!

@@libradawg9 I think Smoltz said it best…1995 was a year where the Braves finally got over the hump after 3 heartbreaking Series losses in the early nineties…no one saw this championship run coming
@libradawg92 жыл бұрын
@@KingJaymo2k11 It was so awful. After that CLASSIC series in 91 we almost took it to Game 7 at home but Winfield said no. Then the magical comeback against the Giants only to drop the NLCS before we hated the Phillies. We were doing all these great things until FINALLY we got it in 95. Justice even said before Game 6 that if they didn't do it the fans would run them out of Atlanta. Then he hits the GW HR.

This and UGA winning within a few months of each other was the greatest feelings ever for a Georgia sports fan. Pure tears and joy with my family, generational story telling in sports lore. Magical. I live in Chicago now and know a lot of people, predominantly Cubs fans. What they felt for their 2016 season is how we felt with this recent WS and Natty. The only terrible part of this vid is the Freeman homerun in game 6. "In what might be his last at bat..." With the caption "No it's not." I really believed he'd stay. The money we offered him was comparable to what the Dodgers gave him but he wanted a year or 2 more commitment. He chose his home state. After taxes he's making less than he would in Atlanta. Cali taxes are tough. Thank you Freddie for over a decade of joy and you will always be a Braves legend.

Im 41. started watching the Braves in 1990. To me it dosent seem like a lot of time has passed but when i step back and realize that I only had to wait 5 years to see the braves win the world series initially. It never occurred to 15 year old me that i would have to wait another 26 years to witness this event again. This is what i love about baseball. Even though over two and a half decades passed, when they won, i wasnt just celebrating the braves. I was celebrating the people that introduced me to this team. Many of them are not among us anymore. However, I am confident that they too, shared in our joy at watching the Bravos become americas team once again.

Having been a Braves fan the entirety of my 20 year-long life, and knowing Atlanta sports in general, I was expecting the Braves to screw up somewhere. I attended the 2012 wildcard (and I won't go much further detail on that), 2013 NLDS Game 2 (the only game they won that series), 2018 NLDS Game 4, and I've seen a number of other playoff collapses, be it the past few Braves runs prior to this one or just around Atlanta sports in general. Because it's happened to me so many times, I simply couldn't make myself believe. Thankfully by the time Matzek struck out those 3 in a row in that 7th inning for the ages, these Bravos FORCED me to believe what my eyes were seeing: a world champion. At the very least I had a renewed optimism that I haven't had for the major sports around here generally in years. Once the Dodgers, our biggest playoff demons fell that's when the hopeful feeling finally hit me: We can actually do this!

I was watching in the living room with my boys (delayed, because I was watching online) and went to the car and turned on SiriusXM to hear the Braves' radio call of the 9th inning, and then called my buddy, who's also a Braves fan, tears in my eyes and celebrated this win, which was a long time coming. It really is too bad that Freddie didn't want to play for Atlanta anymore and that Swanson moved on to the Cubs (I guess he wanted to have Octobers off?) but that's baseball.
