Deco TV Frames is excited to take a first look at the 2022 Samsung Frame TV and their new Matte Display. Tell us what you think of the new display in the comments below. If you're looking for a review of the 2023 TV well you can just watch this video for that as well since for 2023 the TV is identical ... even the model number is the same for 2023. The ONLY difference in 2023 is with the 32" size in that they moved the remote sensor from the top left side to the bottom right of the TV.
Installation: The hardware is the same as the 2021, but they made it easier by including a paper install template to simplify the process. Here's our install video for the 2021 • How to install Samsung... in case you missed it.

Great review! But do you have any tips on wall mounts? I saw on the Samsung site they mention the full motion slim wall mount. But I can’t find it anywhere… We need it just to turn left and right when watching and then push back flat to the wall when in picture mode. Any advice would be super helpful. Thanks!

Great video. In your opinion does The Frame become less convincing as a piece of art in the 75” and 85” sizes? In an average size room.
@DecoTVFrames
@DecoTVFrames 2 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one ... I really think it's more a matter of personal preference and depends on if you think a piece of art that large would be realistic in the size of that room. If you wouldn't normally have a massive piece of art filling the entire space over the fireplace, then I don't think the TV would be believable as art in that space. But a big wall with big art on it I think it would be believable especially with the matte display. With the older displays, the larger the TV was there was glare so I think in 2021 and earlier it was a lot less believable as art because you have a great chance of picking up reflection.

Great review and nice frames! Question: I've seen people use the invisible one connect cable and put it into a smurf tube (conduit). Do you know if doing it that way meets electrical code, or is it necessary to use the in-wall rated cable? I see in your setup you're using the invisible one connect cable but not sure how you're running it behind the wall.
@DecoTVFrames
@DecoTVFrames 2 жыл бұрын
I would think it would be ok inside a conduit, but electrical codes vary from town to town. We haven't used the in-wall cable in our applications, but those have all been for our own private use. Technically I think Samsung recommends it.
@SavedByZero
@SavedByZero 2 жыл бұрын
This has been a contentious question for the last couple of years and one which Samsung has really dropped the ball on in terms of providing consumers with answers. It's clear that Samsung considers the "invisible" cable that is bundled with The Frame to be a viable solution but it looks janky - especially for a lifestyle TV that is marketed to make digital artwork look indistinguishable from the real thing. If there are cables connected to the Mona Lisa in The Louvre I'm clearly misinformed. An in-wall rated cable was made available by Samsung in 2019 and a number of owners of The Frame maintain that the same solution will work with 2020+ models. However, these cables are expensive, much thicker and very difficult to find. If you ask Samsung or an authorized dealer for information be prepared for a chorus of shrugs. If you wish to run the bundled cable inside the wall, you can buy conduit that is specifically fire-rated. However, it is a specialty item that would typically be carried only by electricians and contractors. Some people also mount a piece of regular conduit on the wall and colour-match the paint so that the cable doesn't seem as obvious. It is. Yet another alternative is to install a media enclosure in the wall and use it to store the One Connect box behind the display. Doing so will of course require wall surgery. Bottom line: until Samsung provides an elegant solution, I would suggest checking in with an electrician or convincing your inner OCD that seeing the cable isn't an issue.

Do you have any video upcoming on the actual TV experience? Lots of people covering the art feature (obviously) but how does the matte screen look for watching TV / video?
@DecoTVFrames
@DecoTVFrames 2 жыл бұрын
Great question... we hadn't planned to do a separate about the quality of the video on the TV, however I can tell you that we were pleasantly surprised to see that despite the matte display we expected to see a diminished contrast when watching video, however that was not the case in our experience. It's sort of tough to take a video and accurately capture contrast, but we definitely noticed the contrast was much better than we expected from an antiglare matte display. The display is a 4K QLED. While yes there are some 8K TVs on the market, there still isn't any content broadcast in 8K and the target audience for this TV model is a bit different since Art Mode is such a key factor. Even still we think it makes for a great video display especially compared to the price point of an 8K Samsung.

Thanks for the video. My 32" The Frame came with a smaller connect box that doesn't have a coax-/sat-port. Also the one connect cable is not transparent but cremeish. Do you know if that is correct? And do I need to connect another cable to the TV for the television signal then?
@DecoTVFrames
@DecoTVFrames Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's correct. The 32" is a bit different than all the other sizes. We don't know why they didn't put a discrete clear cord on the cable for the 32" and for some reason the coax on the 32" connects to the back of the TV rather than the One Connect. We are hopeful they will change this for the 2023 models of the TV as many people have complained about that with the 32" model

@DecoTVFrames
@DecoTVFrames 2 жыл бұрын
The picture quality is excellent as a TV. It's a full 4K TV. As for swiveling the TV, you would need a special swing arm style wall mount for swivel. The included mount hangs the TV flat to the wall to be as much like real artwork as possible.

I have cement walls, so carving out a place for the box is tough. If I just plan to run the tv through wifi and have a electric plug behind the TV, and I don't plan on plugging anything in, do I need to still install the ConnectOne box?
@DecoTVFrames
@DecoTVFrames 10 ай бұрын
The One Connect box is actually much more than just a place for HDMI connections and such. It contains the entire motherboard, brains, transformer, hard drive and much more that make the TV operate. This is how Samsung was able to make the TV so extremely thin, because they have relocated so many critical components to be external to the TV itself. There is no way to plug 110v power directly into the back of the TV panel. All of that is done over at the One Connect box. Sorry I don't have better news, but fortunately, the One Connect cable itself is clear and very discrete and easy to hide even along the surface of the wall if you get a little creative.

Does 2022 model has ambient mode? I just bought 2022 model tv and I can’t see any ambient mode in menu bar. Just wondering before I contact Samsung.
@DecoTVFrames
@DecoTVFrames 2 жыл бұрын
It does have ambient mode ... though in the 2021 & 2022 TVs ambient mode is vastly different than in the earlier model years. Starting in 2021, we noticed the auto-dimming features associated with ambient mode is much more subtle than in the past. It would be nice if Samsung gave us an advanced settings screen to be able to set our dimming thresholds. ie: if we wanted the screen to be extremely dim when in a dark room vs if we wanted the dimming function to be less subtle.

Afraid this won't work for me and wish they wen't for a more minimal design that took into account the advent of streaming services that are sufficient for many people. I don't need any A/V hookups and happy with just streaming (it's 2022, right?) and so I actually installed power right behind the TV to avoid running any wires at all. Although I also ran a tunnel through the wall to the floor to hook up a box (which I don't want or need) the killer for me is that the power is connected to the box, rather than the TV, rendering my behind the TV outlet useless. I've got no place to plug in the box, and no place to easily place the box which is in any case absolutely huge - larger than the cable box I thought I was getting rid of. Given the advent of steaming services, I think Samsung would be wise to design a Frame TV that has an internal power plug and WiFi and get rid of external A/V connections and the giant box. The Samsung Frame TV is designed for a 2010 world, and based upon obsolete ideas about how people use televisions in 2022 and beyond.
@DecoTVFrames
@DecoTVFrames 2 жыл бұрын
We completely understand where you're coming from and hopefully Samsung's product team will see your comments, though technically speaking there's one very important detail to take into consideration... the reason Samsung is able to make this one specific TV so thin to make it believable as art is because they put all the brains, memory storage and much more into the One Connect box as well as the ports that I understand not all people use. With a quick look at the few other Ultra-thin TVs on the market you'll find that all of them must have some sort of external box for the critical components. Though we 100% agree that we hope in future releases Samsung will find a way to make the One Connect box smaller... HOWEVER ... I just did some searching to see what all is inside the One Connect box besides those ports. I was blown away to see how many components they cram into that box. Many of the components they have to use are thicker than the TV itself. These are things like transformers and heat syncs. I don't think they could eliminate the One Connect box. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/erJ6pcehmqqUYHk.html

@@DecoTVFrames Almost all of that stuff in the box is the connectors and related circuitry, which is of course standardized and can't be shrunk - but most of us can live without that stuff today. All the stuff most people really need today can be integrated into a single semiconductor SOC, and of course a power supply. If they can fit that stuff into a 14" laptop I don't see why they couldn't integrate it into a thin television chassis.

@@makanmata TVs require a lot more power and longer run times than a laptop. Therefore, shrinking the power supply and incorporating into the frame itself will cause heat issues and thermal problems, both of which are the #1 enemies to ANY electronics.
