I’ve never owned a full size. I’ve seen all the KZfaq videos comparing the different trucks. The other day, I went to all the dealerships and looked the details and touched all the materials. I can tell you,hands down, the quality, details, materials, comfort, button/knob feel, etc. are best with the Tundra. No competition. Everything looks and feels solid. I’m amazed at how this gets missed in the reviews.

I know people complain about the loss of the storage space under the back seat but I keep thinking - it's a pickup... it's got that entire bed and you can store a lot more in a tool box than you can under the seats. So I'm not seeing this as a negative.

Okay, so you buy an $80,000 truck and you have to fix it to make it better. 1. Body color paint all the chrome parts. 2. A leveling kit to get the front end up. 3. Aftermarket tow hooks because it does not come with some. 4. Upgrade the tires do something that is usable for off-road. 5. Adding a bumper step to get into the back of the truck bed because it does not come standard with one.

You have to consider the economic climate factored in to that price. Government has printed 80% of the money in circulation right now in the last 2 years. This man bought this truck at peak prices and inflation. It will be $50-60k within the next year. If not cheaper.

Also... when you buy a Toyota, you are paying for the quality of the individual components. You can drive a new Tundra 200-300k miles on all the original parts with no issues. Most American trucks with all the bells and whistles will require more maintenance throughout their lifetime, making up for the difference in price. With a Chevy Silverado, for example, you might have to replace a water pump, suspension components, a thermostat, belts, etc, all within the first 100-150k miles of ownership. I currently own a 2007 Tundra with 180k miles on it. All original besides the water pump and spark plugs, which I just did recently. Runs like a champ! To put it simply... American Trucks = Amenities > Quality components Toyotas = Quality components > Amenities My perception from owning both.

@@TommyLinebarger I like this truck. But if they added the changes and kept the price under $50k. It would be so great 👍

I have trouble figuring out the resentment of chrome on a vehicle anywhere. Chrome used to be a sign of prestige on upper trims and cost more . A Plain Jane option was a low cost,bottom of the line trim with no flares.🤔

Personally I hate the chrome, however the Platinum line is the best looking from my view point

You mentioned the previous generation having a troublesome transmission you probably got that mixed with your Tacoma. Because the transmission in the last gen was perfect newbie.
@Luke_MoonWalker
@Luke_MoonWalker Жыл бұрын
Transmission sucks in my 07! It down shifts hard from 4th to 3rd from time to time. Like it drops in to the gear. Hard to tell if its a wear issue on the trans or if its a computer issue. It is the first model year of the last gen. I've learned to avoid the first couple years of new generations with Toyota or Lexus. After the 3rd or 4th year, everything works perfectly and lasts forever. They always have to iron out issues after they release something new.

@@deemoney6401 funny because I own one and am 6.2, plenty of room in the back, both leg and head with panoramic roof. So it seems like that point doesn't really matter.

@@JIPlatium I enjoy the Sunroof in my 2016 and the 2022 has lower ceiling in rear due to panoramic roof length. They try to make indentations in ceiling to accommodate head heights. I’m waiting for the next Gen Tundra. I find myself having to many dislikes to buy this Truck at this time. My Gen 2 is more satisfying for tens of thousands less money.👍

I love my 2022 Lunar Rock tundra limited trd off road, I can honestly say the only negative or disappointment is no front bumper tow mounts. You said the front bumper is chrome but it's not, it is aluminum, which looks much better than chrome, mine is aluminum ans looks awesome with the lunar rock color....

I have a 2022 double cab long bed Tacoma and it gets garbage mpg. It’s range is t even 300 miles per tank. I had a 2018 ram 3500 diesel, much better mpg from that.

I’ve been driving my 2008 tundra since new. Love the truck and best I have ever owned. Toyota botched this new tundra so bad especially on the exterior, front and back. Don’t care for the big ipad screen and few other things in the interior. They lost a customer here. Would never consider a new Tundra now.

I agree... I'd never even consider trading my 2020 TRD PRO for that new truck. Until if and when that engine is proved and the truck is better equipped and refined I won't buy.

I actually like the new truck better. The 2nd Gen is now dated. The 5.7 V8 uses enormous amounts of gas and has a number of issues like cam tower leaks and air injection issues. In addition it uses a horrible canister oil filter. The new V6 twin turbo has a spin on oil filter, much better drivability, and much better mpg. I’m not a fan of the short hood on the 2nd Gen. Most importantly the 2nd Gen is not a safe truck like the 3rd Gen.
@highplainsdrifter9849
@highplainsdrifter9849 Жыл бұрын
@@user-tb7rn1il3q Just make sure on 3rd Gen all the bolts are tight on the rear end to keep from falling off the truck. Also keep a few extra wastegates and turbos in storage to replace when they go out. Add some tow hooks and a step up bumper for them troublesome times. Hopefully the 3rd gen. can hit a million miles like the 2nd gen. has accomplished many times.

@@user-tb7rn1il3q Whatever floats you boat but this new twin turbo Tundra doesn't even have that many units on the road and already has many complaints and issues. Here is yet another one. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pN5mi9ibxtW-e40.html I guarantee you that the new one will NEVER have the reliability of the V-8 Iforce in which there are numerous ones over 500K and 4 over 1 million miles.

@@dalephillips8250 The 5.7 has had camshaft failures and is not immune to catastrophic failure. The new engine will last longer with fewer issues. KZfaq is not a good source of reliability information. I could never let a loved one ride in the front seat of the 2nd Gen. The small overlap results were horrible. The 3rd Gen is a very safe truck. The 5.7 in the LC was beefed up for better durability.

The tundra has the nicest interior?!?!😂😂😂😂. It’s sooo cheap and has so much plastic. It rattles like a can with rocks due to all the plastic. I think classic rams have better interior than the new tundra.

I took delivery of my 2021 Tundra TRD Pro double cab the very day the 2022 was revealed. I was nervous because I was concerned that maybe I should have waited and was willing to not sign the paperwork and walk away from my deposit if the truck looked awesome and still had a V8. All of the sales guys were standing around a TV and I was as well, and when the truck came out not one person said that truck looks awesome. In fact, one guy says, "Yeah bro you made the right choice" and everybody laughed and agreed. The more videos I watch on the 2022 I thank the good Lord above I got a 2021. There is nothing about the new trucks that would make me spend another $15,000 - $20,000 over the MSRP I paid for my 2021.

Definitely not a truck worth a Mark-up. But, it is a great new platform with some potential.
@SuperSnakePlissken
@SuperSnakePlissken Жыл бұрын
@@TommyLinebarger I will say this. If God forbid something happened to my 2021 and I could not get another just like it, I would definitely look into the gen 3 tundra in another 3-4 years. Never forget the 2007-2010 Tundra had a decent amount of problems. It wasn't until 2012 that Toyota had finally worked out the kinks and by 2014 the platform was pretty solid. Now, you can go back a decade and outside of the cam tower leak the 5.7L V8 and that six speed transmission is all but bullet proof. That may be the case with the new truck in another 3-4 years. We will see. My concern is my Dad had a 2015 F-150 Ecoboost and I've known 2-3 others with similar Ecoboosts that had a bunch of problems long term. My father had the turbos go out on his truck in 2020 in the middle of Oklahoma towing his camper and had to abandon the camper to limp to a dealership. $5,000+ later he was back on the road. That truck only had 153,000 miles on it. Granted, they do a lot of towing but still any so-called fuel savings from a twin turbo goes right out the window when you have to replace them and its not a "if" but "when".
