I have a 2018, changed the shocks and springs (lowered) added spacers and had a remap. It absolutely transforms the car, faster turn in no tippy toe feeling at speed and no more bounce. The shocks on a standard m240i have a lot to answer for

@@antitheist7453 You're right. Adaptive made a bit of difference to comfort, but not so much to body control. I'm moving to a 987 now for true analogue feel. Boy will it feel slow though

@@RobBoothAutomotive funnily enough I had an 06 987s before my m240i although it was a boxster not a cayman and I hated the drive of the m240i to begin with, it would go round bends faster than the porsche thanks to the modern suspension but I always felt like I was just a passenger. Can't beat the older cars for feel but the allure of modern engines is too enticing

Thundernight with black interior. I really wanted Cognac but didn't want to wait endlessly for it to arrive. No regrets so far. It's a very good all-around package.

Went for black. Was going to order, found one at a dealer and impulse bought without even test driving. Suffice it to say I love my new car 😎😁

I think it's comparing the M240i in regards to the fun you can have versus a Cayman. Saying that obviously it's not going to be quite as good but is still enjoyable for the amount of practicality it offers.

It is a heavy performance car, not a sports car, so that's perfectly fine IMO. Brakes could be better too. Hard disagree on the not feeling special bit though.

If you rly think this car is "under-braked", you maybe should work on your driving style...those cars get tested on the nürburgring nordschleife while in developement and not only the M2 but also the M240i and 230i. if a car is able to perform reasonable on a racetrack lap after lap it's not underbraked. the only point I would give to you is.... that if you push to hard on a small GP track and the brakes get to hot, they tend to fade with stock brakepads. But to counter this Problem just get a Proper set of Pads If you want to track it.

When was that? I heard him say it won't let him downshift until the gear he's shifting INTO would be below 6000rpm, but never saw him try and shift while above 6000rpm.

@@DarkHelmet1976 well he is basically complaining that the gearbox won't let him overrev the car....not rly smart. Also it's a little bit weird that, compared to about 20 reviews I've watched now, this guy is basically the only person that complains about the ZF8HP while everyone else is positive about it's responsiveness.

I was thinking the same thing. I have the previous M240i and before buying it I watched/read almost every review I could find. No real negatives were ever pointed out, maybe the vague steering. It was a praised car when it came out. But now after owning the car for 5 years, the journalists start to say negative things of the old car, which before were never mentioned. Pathetic indeed.

I've watched several reviews here (mostly Dan Prosser videos), also in Carfection, savagegeese, Throttle House, AutoTopNL, and people in those channels always point the negative stuff.

Pistonheads did say the previous car lacked body composure in 2017, plus now they're comparing it to a Cayman which is a proper sports car as opposed to an M2 or other BMWs. It's not too hard to do some research.
