i dont understand why you say having to manualy switch to AWD and 2WD is not good... its actually the best thing ever to be honest.. being on 2WD youll save a little bit on gas milage.. and living where im from.. we get 6 months of snow and 6 months of no snow.. so i rather put it on AWD myself and take it off when not needed..its not a problematic design its actually smart.. if you cant turn a knob to put it in AWD well sir you shouldnt drive a car at all

I have a 2021 buick suv with AWD and I have this same switch and I love it because I can turn it on or off depending on my needs . It saves me gas and constant wear on my awd system. I wouldn't buy a new suv without it

I'd rather turn it on and off myself, you don't need awd all the time, pressing a button isn't all that hard Lol

You missed the whole point of the x2 and x4 mode selector. The idea of having the option to select x2 and physically disconnect the rear axle is a very nice to have feature. Most people would use the vehicle in this mode most of the time. I live in Canada and during summer (from May to October) I only enable x4 when I go on dirt or mud roads. The point of having x2 to save fuel is great, you don't need to drag the overhead of awd when the system is going to put you in fwd anyways. The x4 mode is the equivalent of the AWD that most of the other compact SUVs have all the time, so if you like that just leave it there, but know that you still have the option to run it as FWD and save on fuel.

I’ve been an automotive sales consultant for 7 years. In general people don’t care about paddle shifters. Even sports car buyers don’t care that much because if they want to shift they’ll buy a manual. Also saying suv buyers “want” AWD is false. It’s a regional and demographic decision. I’ve sold cars in Wisconsin and Texas and overall the markets are different. I’d recommend you guys do a Q and A online and see what features guests care about and maybe emphasize what they want. No dis respect, I think you’re a little out of touch with what people really want vs what you think they want. I’ve done it too.

I owned a four wheel drive truck from 1997 and sold it. My wife cannot drive anymore and we didn't need it. We traded in our front wheel wheel drive Equinox for a newer all wheel drive one. On the interstate driving from the center of PA to our home in Ocean City NJ I often got close to and sometimes a little better than 40 MPG. The all wheel drive one gets about 34. I like the fact I can shut the all wheel drive off. I have tried it both ways and being on costs about 3 mpg. With no skid plates, low ground clearance and no low gear I don't expect it to go places my truck could but it suits our needs . This is actually our 4th Equinox.

I bought a 2022 Chevy equinox LT with the convenience package and driven it for about a year now and have no complaints besides the power. It looks good, drives good, and it’s quite. I live in Chicago and it handles everything just fine and people that say it’s bad aren’t good driver’s in my opinion. It’s a solid SUV. Compared to other special vehicles people talk about that is “better”, the infotainment just sucks in a lot of them and the Chevys is amazing. Most SUVs don’t even have wireless Apple CarPlay and getting in and not worrying about a cord is next level. It has remote start application with a fee but use it in the winter and with key fob. The headlights are amazing also at night and driving next to other “better” SUVs I can tell tremendously who is better. Top safety pick and more safer than the “better” SUVs. Car reviews are good to watch but do your research before buying.

I agree! I just traded my LT Blazer for the RS package on the Equinox and I don't regret it. Yes, I lose the horsepower and width, size, but I get a panoramic sunroof, Bose system with AWD that I can activate anytime I want. I use to have an Equinox, but the Blazer would suck up gas. I love the Equinox and thought I would never go back, but it is way to pricey for the RS on the Blazer. If I wanted to spend money, I would get a Cadillac.

The AWD selector is to save gas on the highway, and have less wear and tear. If you're worried about spinning tires then just keep it in AWD all the time and take the hit to mileage, problem solved.

Terrain is a fantastic alternative to the status quo like CR-Vs, RAV 4s and Tucsons. Terrain feels more like a truck inside and out but the ride is quite comfortable. The only downside to this vehicle is underpowered engine and that plastic thingie that flips up called head-up display. Fantastic review though as always.

I love my '19 Equinox. It's the only crossover that fits me at 6'4" and my kids in the rear seat very comfortably who are 6'1". The engine is more than fast enough--I can get well beyond the speed limit on the very short highway ramps we have here in Minneapolis. The interior is not boring. And these new generations of Ecotecs are having reports of hitting over 200k miles already. I keep mine in AWD all the time because I can corner faster and take off faster instead of just spinning the tires. It's not a sports car, but the AWD helps a lot. FWD mode is useless with these turbos. The old version of auto-AWD was terrible, in my opinion. Being able to choose FWD or AWD on my own is a huge plus, and it's a very rare feature these days. I have driven every vehicle in this segment, and I only come close to liking the Equinox and Terrain. I understand why they got a bad reputation in the 2010-2017 years, sure, but the 2018+ models? They are fantastic in any way you can describe it. I was going to leave GM behind until this current gen of these vehicles came out.

What a whiney review. I think all these guys have become spoiled by the Lexus and BMW cars they own. All the little things you found fault with don't really matter to me. Paddle shifters?? Who cares. All I want is one with a "D" somewhere on it. That stands for "done had a manual and don't want another". Who wants to shift manually in an automatic? All you guys so interested in performance need to pick a different vehicle and stop po po'ing every vehicle that doesn't have it. My first car was a VW diesel rabbit with a whopping 40 hp. It ran perfectly fine and nobody died. Stop acting so spoiled.

When we bought our terrain we test drove both the equinox and terrain. After driving the terrain we test drove the equinox about 400 yards and could already tell the difference. The equinox was rougher, louder, cheaper looking, and not as smooth. I have gotten 40 mpg with the terrain.

I rented a 2022 Terrain on a trip to Toronto back in the Spring of 2022. I'm 5'11" and found the driver seat very comfortable on a 3.5 hour drive up to North Bay. When I first got in the car, I was totally baffled on where the shifter was until I finally spotted the funny lever-buttons. Weird, but I got used to it. I see some cars have a knob on the console for RND. I guess I'm old school, still preferring a shifter stick. The rental was fully tricked out and I appreciated the backup warning and then brake application when I was backing out of a spot in a strip mall parking lot. Due to outsize "neighbor" cars on either side, I did *not* see the car whipping down the parking lane. I also appreciated the various camera angles displayed when shifting lanes and backing up. While highway driving, I noticed that the adaptive cruise control was slowing me down a bit as I began to approach the car in front. The distance for that is adjustable. It took some getting used to but I can see it being quite helpful if I was a tad inattentive. The weirdest adaptive cruise control part, however, was when there were 3 asphalt repair streaks across the concrete lane in close succession, somewhere north of Barrie. The sensors thought it was an obstacle and applied the brakes sharply, to the intense dislike of the car behind me (think long, loud horn honk). For a second or two, I didn't know which button to press or reset or whatever to get out the unnecessary braking. On a guess, I pressed the accelerator and the braking stopped. Phew!

This guy can't comprehend the difference between 2WD and AWD and why you would choose. Paddle shifters on an economy SUV. He is a child. Shouldn't be giving any advice to anyone. He doesn't understand the category they are in. I would rather have the stereo buttons there to keep your hands on the wheel, I use mine all the time. It is not meant to be a hot rod.

Yes, they provide the 2.0t+9at version in China, which is even cheaper than the 1.5t+6at version in North America, which is completely opposite to the market strategy of other brands. But the funny thing is that even so, they still can't get good sales in the Chinese market.

All GMC 2022 Terrain versions have standard front and back LED. Being abler to toggle from 2WD to AWD and vice versa on a whim is great. You can save on gas. I personally opt for AWD in only snowy conditions, otherwise I default to 2WD.
