I agree. The tail allows you to push through your turns. The stiffness of this ski actually translates to allowing you to push through the front with power. Such a easy ski to drive and turn. Also easy just to muddle around.

Hey, I know I’m late to the party! I just wanted to say that point you made at the end was awesome, these skis definitely fit a certain type of skier. While I am a smaller/ lighter high school kid, I ski hard and like to move fast, when I really lay into these things they are amazing. The response is awesome and you get a lot of feedback from the ski itself that you can feel. I ski all over the mountain with these, in and out of the trees, on groomers and in bowls. One thing I will definitely agree with, these skis like to be skiied hard on groomers, when you get going they want to rip, definitely not the ski for someone who is looking to go out for a “cruise” if that makes sense. But all in all for how I ski with my pace and all over the mountain, I wouldn’t trade my kores for the world!

Relative to most of your reviews, this one had more skiing footage and less in-shop footage. I approve :-). Please keep this up! (And as someone else mentioned, I would love to see a review of the skinnier widths... The 87 is on my short list for my next ski)

Bob's been skiing the 93 quite a bit in the past few weeks. We'll definitely have a full review of that ski before next season. Also appreciate the feedback. I've been trying to work in more skiing footage!

I just bought the 93, I'd love to hear Bob's review and see some footage of the 93. I had a few skis on my short list but everything I've hears and the kore line makes me very comfortable with my decision. I can't wait to get on snow!

Can you compare to the M6?
@admirbikic8033 жыл бұрын
Awesome review as always! This ski looks amazing. Quick question: the mount point is at around -11cm from center, how would this ski react if I'd push it up +4cm (-7cm)? looking for more center stance and playfulness
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
+4 feels like too much to me for this shape. It's very much a directional ski. I think +2 would be reasonable, but yeah, +4 might screw up the feel of the ski too much.
@Psistarpsi__3 жыл бұрын
Great review guys! How would you compare this to a mindbender 99 ti with regard to versatility? I know one is metal and the other is not, but I find myself looking between stiffer carbon/wood skis and skis with a little metal in them. (5’9”, 175lbs intermediate-advanced skier who skis mostly in the northeast).
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you know, those skis have a lot of similarities. Similar shape, similar flex pattern overall, it really just comes down to the weight and how it changes performance. The Kore is quicker and more responsive. The Mindbender is a little smoother, more vibration damping, and I'd say it tracks a little better through choppy snow, but it's not as quick or as agile as the Kore.
@thomasvanderhoff3 жыл бұрын
Great review as always! Just got a pair of kore 105's and wondering about mounting point. 11+ for the suggested mounting point seems a bit far back for my skiing style and skiing on the east. Going to use it as a one ski quiver touring/resort. What would you personally mount these skis at as a 1 quiver ski for your style of skiing (similar to mine)? +2 or 3 from suggested?
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
The Factory recommended point is determined after months of testing and prototyping and is ultimately decided based on where the ski performs optimally given its intended use and feel. Moving the mount point closer to center would help even out the swing weight of the ski and help you gain leverage for pivoting the ski. I wouldn't go much further than +2 or 3cm as you will start to hinder the skis intended performance.
@911dion3 жыл бұрын
I have last year’s 105’s and like them a lot. Mainly used in resort now, but thinking of converting to touring capable. Do you know if the 2022 105 will get the revised construction , etc that you detailed on the 99’s? Keep up the great videos!
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
The entire Kore line will receive the same updates to their construction as the 99.

Impressive chunder straightline "stability test"! Especially in just the 177 length. How would you say it compares in terms of stability at speed in crud/variable to more classic heavyweights (literally) in the category such as the Enforcer, Bonafide, or Mantra?
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
Haha, it was fun! Those skis are all a little more stable in situations like that. They have a more damp, quiet feel as well. That's kind of why I was saying B+/A- for the Kore 99. Enforcers, Bonafides, Mantras are all in the A/A+ range when it comes to raw stability.
@r101e63 жыл бұрын
I have the original Head Kore 99 which I really like. My biggest criticism of the ski is the “no top sheet” design. Clearly Head realised the flaws in this design as the two subsequent iterations did away with this design. I doubt my skis would have lasted this season had I been able to ski. They were pretty cut-up after one season, wood showing through in a few places. Do you know if Head recalled this design or offered an upgrade to the more robust later models? Great review by the way
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
I don't believe Head considered that a warranty issue, unless it's really bad and effecting the structural integrity of the ski. If you have wood showing through, that may fall under a warranty claim. In my opinion, if that's the case, it would at least be worth contacting them.

I borrowed a friends 87's for the night and was so blown away I purchased these 99's with F12 bindings! This review also popped up on my timeline that same night so thank you! Just curious of where the binding were mounted? recommended + or _ ? Thanks!
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
We skied them right on the recommended line. I never really felt a reason to move it from there, and I typically don't vary from the recommended line on a directional ski like this. I think they ski great where the engineers intended.
@bszuch2163 жыл бұрын
@@SkiEssentials Thanks for the reply! I actually went +1 reading everything I could find of others saying it was slightly more playful. I really like the F12 bindings combo I did. I took them out once and loved every second. Was ripping! Super fast ski! I guess if I every feel I can't use the ski entirely to its potential in the future, I'll move it back to recommended.

Could you use a Kore 99, either the 2021 or 2022, or the Blaze 94 on freeriding bigmountains? And if so whice ones would cope the best with the various snow conditions with windslab etc that comes along with it?
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
Certainly! The Kore 99 is a little stiffer, so will handle windslab conditions and other variable snow a little better than the Blaze. The Blaze can definitely work in backcountry terrain, that's basically what it's designed for, but it's not as strong as the Kore, and if you're concerned about edge grip and handling gnarly snow conditions, I would go Kore.
@martialgerolami21922 жыл бұрын
So between the rip stick and the Kore which one would you pick over the other and why? I am a strong skier looking for something that I can ski on groomers but can take off piste and not have to wrestle it around.
@SkiEssentials2 жыл бұрын
Ha! Just finished the 2023 Kore 99 review! Stronger and heavier skiers who are looking to bend the ski should gravitate to the Kore. Ripstick is more flexible and better for more skiers, but the Kore is way more precise, stiff, and responsive. It's a unique ski, and at 6/2 225 pounds, I prefer the stronger Kore.
@_erik_2 жыл бұрын
How does the Kore 99 compare to the SALOMON Qst 92? and what length of skies do you recommend (I'm 187 at 70 kg pretty athletic skiing 110 flex boots).
@SkiEssentials2 жыл бұрын
HI Erik! The Kore is a bit stiffer and lighter than the QST 92. It provides more grip and energy in a carved turn, even though it's wider, but isn't quite as friendly or easy-going as the Salomon. If you're on-trail more often than not, I think the Kore is a better choice. I'd go with the 184 in the Kore. Have fun! SE
@klauspeters74342 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff - how would you compare them to the Fischer‘s FR102 ? Thanks 🙏
@SkiEssentials2 жыл бұрын
A little more precise, mostly thanks to the stiffer flex. I know we say it a lot, but we really can't emphasize how stiff these things are enough... Super stuff and very light, which gives them a relatively unique feel. If you blindfolded me, or hid the graphic or something, I 100% would be able to tell I was on a Kore. More precise, a little more powerful on a groomer, while the Ranger is a little more playful and more forgiving, but you lose some quickness and precision.
@darinsmith24582 жыл бұрын
I made a comment with you guys about my 2016 Stokli 88 177. I had a miserable experience with them on the fresh crud. They did not want to move. I stopped at a ski shop and someone gave me a pair of Head Kore 180 99. I am not sure what year they are but it sounds like if they might not be as forgiving as I need them to be. I do see the turn radius is 17m and my Stokli are 19m so maybe these will be a little easier for me to manuever through the crud. I am going to try them tomorrow. If you have any comments before I go skiing on them please let me know. If I have a difficult time on these in the bowls and crud then I am going to let them know at the ski shop and we can go from there.. Thank you..

Hi! Has the topsheet become more scratch-resistant?
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
Yes! One of the goals of the new construction is to reduce topsheet chipping along the edges of the ski, and so far it seems like it works really well.

Great video review, what about the Kore 99 compared to the Dynastar M-Free 99? Now I drive Dynastar Legend X96 171 (2018) and is time to change them. I’m interesting about easy going, forgiveness, response, playful, short turns, 30% groomed - 70% off-piste (10-15 cm powder in best scenarios in Greece), weight 74 kg, height 170cm, age 60 years, THANKS
@SkiEssentials2 жыл бұрын
M-Free 99 is quite a bit more flexible and playful than the Kore, which is on the light/stiff side of the spectrum. If you're interested in easy-going, I'd go with the M-Free all day.
@nzheliking12783 жыл бұрын
Compared to the Holyshred or MPro99? Thanks.

The Holy shred is the more playful of the three. The Kore is very stiff despite being so light.

Hey one other thing to add to my comment is that I am 5’11” and I bounce between 195 and 200lbs . So what length do you think would suit me best? Just want to make sure I can manoeuvre it in the trees.
@SkiEssentials2 жыл бұрын
If you have proper technique and prefer high edge angles, I'd go Kore. Both are easy in the trees, the Kore has more responsiveness on the groomers and firmer snow.

Is it possible if you could do a review on the Line Chronic? I also need help finding a good twin tip ski for me. I'm 15 years old. I'm 5'9 and I'm roughly 135. I would say I'm a pretty advanced skier. I am trying to find a ski that is very playful, a lot of pop and buttery, especially considering im only 135. I primarily ski all-mountain and sometimes off-piste but i want to start getting into park skiing. Can you please guide me to the ski that would best suit me. Please don't be hesitant if you need more information about my skiing style! :)
@milessipper23663 жыл бұрын
I have narrowed down my choices to 4 different skis: Nordica Soul Sweeper 97, Line Chronic, Sir Francis Bacon, and the Bent Chetler 100s. Do you know which ski would be best for me. In fact, if you have a suggestion for a ski more adequate for my ski style, please feel free to suggest another ski :)
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
The Soul rider ad the chronic make the most sense given you're skiing mostly on piste. they will be wide enough to handle some variable or softer snow, but there is no real reason to go wider unless you expect to ski a lot more mixed terrain. All of those skis have a forgiving yet snappy flex.
@milessipper23663 жыл бұрын
@@SkiEssentials ah okay thank you! now out of those two which one would you suggest for someone like me who is an expert skier just getting into park/butters who wants a playful and poppy ski

Hey what lenght should i take with 185cm hight? 184, 177 or 189?

Jeff and Bob, What about the Kore 99 compared to the Dynastar M-Pro 99? Ski fast on Groomers and some trees, back bowls and pow out West?
@SkiEssentials2 жыл бұрын
Relatively close comparison, actually. Both skis feel quite stiff, especially in the tail. Difference in weight and feel, however. I think a skier who prefers short turns and moderate speeds would prefer the Kore, while a skier who prefers speed and doesn't worry as much about maneuverability will prefer the M-Pro 99.
@hotskillet3 жыл бұрын
Considering either the 2022 or the Rossy Holy Shred. Which one would be more fore giving. I have the 2020 Ripstick 96 and they are just too jittery/very little dampening. Looking for a lightweight hard-charger.
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
If you're focused on lightweight, I would go with the Kore. Neither are tremendously forgiving, although I do think the lighter weight feel of the Kore makes it less fatiguing, which kind of translates to forgiveness, especially later in the day. Stiffer flex than your Ripstick 96, so I do think you'll find them more stable at speed.
@nickyeee533 жыл бұрын
Hi looking at the kore 99 or the elan rip stick black?
@SkiEssentials3 жыл бұрын
Kore feels lighter and stiffer, so more responsive. Ripsticks are softer flexing, but have a damper, quieter feel, and I think most skiers would find the Ripstick more playful.
