@@1999zrx1100 Check out T-Rex for crash guards and skid plate to protect the undercarriage exhaust. I have them and installed them in an easy afternoon. They have a rack too but it's kind of overpowering on the Monkey, I think a smaller chrome one would look better.

Do the intakes fit the same ? I have a Chimera short ram intake for previous model wondering if it will fit 2022 model ? TIA

Not sure on the intake. I only have the exhaust. Sorry.

How did the gears and power feel different? what colours did you have, I don't like the 2022 colour scheme except the black because it goes with the frames they painted all black..

@@CrustyBiker the engine is a little smoother and one extra gear. Power is about the same. The differences are minor. The biggest difference is maintenance (oil change). The 2022 has an oil filter cartridge vs an internal spinner. To access the spinner on older models, you must remove the clutch cover. It’s much easier to change the oil on the 22. I’m a big fan of the banana yellow. Typically not a fan of yellow vehicles, but like it on the monkey.

Awesome, I looked at the Grom but preferred the retro looks of the Monkey

@@thansonmopar I love the retro looks too. At the time I ordered my Grom, I wasn't sure what the updates were going to be on the Monkey, so I went for the Grom. No regrets! But I do love the Monkey too. Maybe I should have two bikes!

I love the Monkey, because it is what it is. Rode a Grom also, and thought the seat was not great. I really like the Blue Monkey.20-21.

At least the little Monkey get ridiculously good fuel economy! I live in Lead SD, its about 2 miles away from Deadwood. Fantastic riding roads.

@@thansonmopar Thanks for the response. Originally from Minneapolis, went to Southern Colorado to escape the Minnesota tax landscape. Colo. is kinda turning into California and believe it or not I miss real Winter. I love Souix Falls but I'm gonna check out the Black Hills also. Again thanks for the feedback. Great vid. This is my first monkey so I do not have an older 4 speed model to compare it to as far as RPM levels go. I will say for the price point of this bike the suspension (and seat) are great! much better than I expected out of the bike.

I own and drive a 2022 monkey and can compare it to a 2019 model, a local monkey club member owns. He drove it on several tours we did in last autumn. We are about the same height, but I weigh about 20 kg plus. He mentioned that his rear wheel needs new shocks because of the bad springs that nearly cant handle bad roads. My new model has improved shocks, I can't complain, they're doing the job well. I don't need to change these, can spent my money for other goodies like an exhaust or an improved chain for example 😇

@@derhiob8493 you didn't answer the question about RPMs between the 5 speed and the 4 speed.

@@spydie... you're right. As I don't have a revcounter, it's impossible to compare the rpms at topspeed driving the 5 with the 4 gear version. But my 5th gear is some kind of an overdrive, the rpms are lower than before at every speed in 4th gear. That was the main reason for honda to install an overdrive gear. The gear ratio diagram of the 22 modell shows slightly different ratios in every gear, compared to the 21 modell or earlier versions with 4 gears. I can't show them here, just google and you'll see. My buddy therefore changed his front sprocket to one more tooth, to use the engine power for more topspeed...

@@derhiob8493 I forgot there is not Tachometer on these bikes. I'm guessing that 5th gear is the same as 4th gear on the pre-2022 bikes as the bike doesn't have enough power for an overdrive. That means the gear ratios are closer which is better for power and acceleration and off-road use. Hopefully first gear is a little lower but without a rev counter we'll never know. I put an electronic $20 rev counter on my CT125.

Funny you should mention the mirrors. I'd have to agree, for me only about half the mirror is useful as they don't stick out far enough. Honda could have made them stick out another inch or two further and they would have been fine. The cool thing about the monkey is the fuel economy...my first fill up I averaged over 100mpg!

You can buy risers for the mirrors, I had to and now they are useful. They are around 30 bucks if I remember, longer shifter was a must also. Love my '21 in blue

I love visiting California, its a beautiful state....but yea you guys definitely have a crime problem. I suppose its to be expected with any larger concentrations of population.
