I own a 2022 Ridgeline RTL-E and love it. It’s a great all around truck and it drives great. My son owns an F150 and there is no comparison between the two. Both are great trucks but they each fill very different needs.

In the rear backup camera view, that transverse dotted-line is the location of a dropped tailgate. So, if you backed up to a pole or loading dock and stop just short of that dotted-line, then you can drop the traditional tailgate down without hitting the object behind you.

I love my '21 black edition - blk. You won't lose your man-card if you buy one. It is exactly what fits my lifestyle and garage. Super comfortable on the drive, easy to handle. Just a smart alternative if you really don't need a full size truck.

I own a 2021 special edition pilot. Basically same vehicle without a bed. I absolutely love it. Would have got the ridge line but have kids and pilot was a better fit. I give these Honda vehicles two strong thumbs up. Can tow up to 5000 lbs. even in the 1500 truck category what more do you need. Nothing. I’ve owned 3 Chevy 1500 trucks for over twenty years. Don’t miss them. Most people don’t haul huge loads anyway.

I have a 2022 Honda Ridgeline black edition. I call it my Town Truck. It's smaller than any truck I've ever owned and it suits my current needs just perfectly It drives and rides like a dream, has all the amenities and gets close to 20MPG around town!

First video I’ve seen of the ridge line, one of the things I liked was that they made it to where you don’t have a gear shifter on the counsel in your way. I always get the shifter on the column because I don’t like things in my way but this would take care of that. Nice!!

I just bought one in Maine in February. We had a blizzard the day after I picked it up. I had to drive 15 miles to work in said Blizzard because I work weekends as a machinist. And just like my old CRV, she plowed through the snow like nothing was there. On i-95 where it had been drifted over and she just plowed right through. Only thing I had to do was make sure my all wheel drive setting was in snow.

I bought a 2022 Ridgeline RTL, I'm super happy with it. This is my 3rd Ridgeline, my first one (2006) I put 565k miles on it and she ran like a champ. My second was a 2011 RTL-E that I put almost 200k on it. I didn't like the 2nd generation Ridgeline, it looked like an Odyssey with the back cut off. Couple things in not happy with is no power to the back seat, USB plugs nothing. The black hole in the center console lacks any organization. The MPG for me is really good and I haven't quite figured out the toggles on the steering wheel. All and all a great TRUCK and I love mine.

I got a 21’ black line 6 months ago, I traded my 16” tahoe for..I love that it drives better/smoother, I got all the utility I need even moving from a full size suv, I felt like this Ridgeline is even more capable of swallowing weeklong excursions with the family..it still tows 2 seadoos just fine albeit a bit strained when packing the bed fully for a family of 4, downsides would be hoping for higher mpg at 20.6 avg over last 4K miles, and why even with my top trim did Canadians get ventilated seat and not us? I bought it for the utility/practicality/durability/mpg/appearance(Blk edition), I got just about everything I expected, I love it!

Great video, thank you. I am on my second Ridgeline (2006 and 2013. Being in Sales, I get to travel all over the state, and I get a lot of compliments. Looking at the 2022 model, a feature I would like to see come back would be the from seat door handles. They are ergonomic and unique. Even if Honda were to offer it as an option, that would be nice. Also, I did have Johnson Controls (who supplies the interior) come out to interview me about what I liked and what I would like to have added m/changed. I told them the center back seat head rest was retractable. They should make the other two back seat headrests retractable also, as the visibility out the back window is a bit obscured. Looking forward to purchasing a 2023 model next year, as I currently have 230k miles on my 2013 Sport, and while it runs great, I would like to upgrade with more of the safety features.

I have a 2007 Ridgeline - has been a good truck. Have been most surprised by the all wheel drive in ice/snow ( I added larger all terrain tires). I would like to see a new model with a hybrid drivetrain that has better fuel economy, towing, and overall power. Would also like to see the truck raised a couple inches and easier step in option on the tailgate.

Thank you for the nice video and demonstrating proper access to the spare mini tire. I have 22 RTL-E. Things I like about it are the rear boot. I toss stinky work boots back there and stinky clothes and my truck interior always looks clean. If I go on shell roads, I also put hydraulic jack back in there and it doesnt have to roll around in bed of truck, or in the cab. So that is the best feature. This truck is superior handling to clumsier pickups at high highway speed (yes I am speeder). I also like the ZF transmission of the ridgeline. It is sold to car companies as a kit and its only as good as the software code that integrates it with the motor, but Hondas got it right. One thing I dont like are the buttons (up by rearview mirror) to turn on cabin interior lights, they are tiny, and I have to fumble around a bit before I press them properly. The second thing I dont like is the the button shift to shift transmission from park to reverse or drive. Sometimes in the dark Im never really sure if I put it back in park or neutral.

Oh and since you mentioned the different types of all-wheel drive variations, I think you should also let people know that if you're on the highway and let's say the speed limit is limited to 45 and I like to use the active cruise control cuz it keeps a good distance. Distance but if you're in snow mud or gravel settings on the all-wheel drive, you cannot use the cruise control at all.

Had a Ridgeline for 3 years and picking up my next one tonight. Shopped a lot of trucks and there's still not a competitor that combines everything that the Ridgeline does. I'm 6'4" and most mid-size trucks were way too small inside (Looking at you Tacoma....that front seat is a joke) and carried a heavy penalty on MPGs when I wasn't hauling or pulling anything. The Ridgeline has plenty of space for me and on plenty of occasions, my friends feel the need to say how amazed they are that we fit four guys and all that stuff in this truck for a camping trip or road trip. It's quiet and smooth on the highway, parks easily in garages and parking spaces, has tons of clever storage, and combined to around 24.5 mpg across 30,000 miles. My wife's Subaru Forester struggles to hit 25 mpg at 80 mph on the interstate and really has to work for it. The Ridgeline sails along at 2100 rpm seemingly unfazed and returns 25+ almost easily and even had a few trips hit 28

I test drove a Honda Ridgeline RTL-E a couple wees ago and went over and immediately test drove a Toyota Tacoma. I immediately went back to the Honda dealer and ordered me a Ridgeline. in the same color that you drove which I believe is Radiant Red. The Ridgeline ride is better than any pickup that you are going to try out. I love the fact that the Ridgeline is AWD. I am down sizing from a Toyota Tundra because I no longer need that kind of towing power. As of this writing, my Ridgeline will not be in for around 3 more weeks. I can't wait.

Just got mine. 2022 RTL-E sonic gray. Waited a month 1/2 but it’s worth the wait. I can honestly say I made the right decision. It was between trd pro Tacoma and the ridgeline since I already went tru 2 Tacoma’s. It only make sense. However after meticulously comparing the two, the ridgeline came up on top. This is the best riding truck in its class due to its independent rear suspension.... Cabin is quiet...Although it shares the same engineering as a Pilot, the suspension components are 50% larger and more heavy duty... Resale value is tremendously high... The bed has a stamped composite that Honda deems scratchless, no bedliner needed, also the truck bed has speakers which Honda calls exciters and sounds awesome! The truck is attractive although it could be designed to be a little more rugged-looking/masculine..

I am expecting a black edition in a week or so. Honda really fell short considering this top of the line truck - and only Honda truck - but the don't include all the amenities the pilot has. The truck should have included cooling seats and rear controls for AC/HEAT, I mean this is a tri-zone truck. Why only have these features for Canada whom may not need cooling seats as much as Arizona. This is my only gripe. Beyond that people need to stop the debate that it is not a truck. Unless you still thing the world is flat this is a truck and props to Honda for making it better. Call it what you want, it suits my needs and is much more comfortable then any other mid-size truck I have been in. The refresh on the nose sold me. This is the look I have been waiting for. While I owned 2 first gen and loved them, the second gen was awful and I have been biting my nails waiting for my 2022 black edition. HPD package is a joke that Honda should be ashamed of. The RTL-E is a much better deal then the black edition but what the heck, I went for the big dog. Infotainment may be a bit outdated but it is much more than what I have now. Again I am not sure why as the top of the line truck it does not have the pilot infotainment or instrument cluster but these changes are expected and guess what, you will be charged for them. Glad I got in now, I am paying enough as it is.

You may be right, I don’t know your off-road needs. However, I can tell you I’m in the land and timber business, which means I have routinely had to access difficult terrain. I have driven nothing but Ridgelines (3) since they appeared again 2005 and they have never failed to get me in and out of the boonies (comfortably). Frankly, I’ve become so dependent on the trunk that I don’t even consider a truck without it. I travel two states routinely and get 25+ mpg on long highway trips. I loved my gen1’s, but this 2021 RTL is truly another level. I hope whatever you choose (or chose) pleases you.

Bought a '23 RTL a few days ago; also this red color. Favorite feature is the ride quality. It is as smooth and quiet as a luxury sedan. Nitpicks: wish the info screen was fully vertical, sun visors lack extensions, it could sit and inch or two higher - although some may argue the low ride height is a benefit. Like many "truck" owners I don't plan to haul a 7-8k lb trailer regularly or take it off-road (try finding a decent off-road trail that isn't fenced in anyway). I owned a Silverado Z71 years ago and there is a night and day difference between the Ridgeline and that truck. If you want most of the practicality that a truck offers and great ride quality and maneuverability, do consider the Ridgeline.

I had a 2009 Ridgeline and really liked it. But ever since I bought my CR-V EX-L back in 2017, I realized that unless I needed to haul something tall, then the CR-V’s cavernous cargo area would carry just about everything the Ridgeline does. Driving experience in my 2022 is amazing. Can whip around corners on road way more confidently than any other truck. It's also the most sure footed winter vehicle I've ever driven, the Honda AWD system is shared with higher end Acura vehicles and it's no joke. Only thing I wish honda did better is ground clearance and under body protection. Touch screen on the stereo isn't great either. Unfortunately my 2022 got wrecked in a car accident but I have a 2023 waiting for me at the dealer once insurance pays out. Looked at the new colorado and frontier but the back seats are designed for children, they're a joke. Full size trucks run $55,000+ when similarly equipped so I had no trouble going back to another ridgeline

ZF-9 transmission (so far) is super smooth.. and the 3.5L has sufficient power to pull my 4000 pound travel trailer.. Honda, unfortunately, kept the engine timing belt design which requires replacement every 100k miles.. My biggest complaint is the govt mandated auto stop-start system.. If you don't like it, you must manually disable it each time you restart the truck.. I had to install an auto-defeat module to get around that system.. Lastly, I'm disappointed that the new models are AWD only.. Some of us don't need or want AWD but now we have to pay another $2000-$3000 for it.. Otherwise, it's a fantastic vehicle..

I have made the same comment on other channels but I just want to inform people that the Honda 3.5 V6 is a timing belt intereference engine. That means if the belt breaks, pistons and valves will meet and that is not good. All other major manufacturers switched to timing chains 10+ years ago. As long as you replace the timing belt (and recommended water pump) at their 60-100K mile recommendated service interval you should be fine. They say 60-100K depending on driving conditions but if it breaks at 65K miles, I bet they will say you must have been driving hard and you should have changed it 5K ago. For me, the idea of paying $40,000 for a vehicle that requires routine maintenence at a cost of $1,300( in today dollars) is crazy, in addition to the major dissambly of the engine bay to replace it. For those that have owned cars that require timing belt replacement and don't mind the expense, this should not be a problem.
@pm270x
@pm270x 2 жыл бұрын
This is no longer an issue of costs. Ever since most competitors have migrated to gas direct injection (GDI), single turbos, twin-scroll turbos, E85 compatibility, and diesel; those maintenance costs are either equal to or greater than that of a timing belt replacement every 60k. Replacing hybrid batteries at 100k alone is a $20k maintenance cost. It wasn’t that long ago that the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon had 300k timing chains prematurely snapping at 30k, due to GDI burning excessive oil needed for lubricating the timing chain. Honda’s 3.5L V6 is often a member of the “1 million mile club”, before a complete rebuild is needed. Toyota is likely the only other 3.5L V6 that can compete with a Honda engine for longevity. Water pumps routinely fail before the timing chain reaches 150k. So if you must pay for a new gasket kit on the timing chain while replacing a defective water pump at 75k, do you also replace the timing chain while it’s accessible, or attempt to reach the 150k on the timing chain in hopes enough life remains getting you to the next water pump failure? Time chains have to be lubricated within the block or enclosed compartment on the side of the engine. Timing chains are expensive to replace, and replacing two within 300k may be more expensive than replacing 5 belts at 300k.

You are stating the interval incorrectly. Timing belts only lasted 60-90k miles over 30 years ago.

@@Jay-gk1bf for me...42 years old, 2 kids(in car seats)...most interior room in class, never really off road or tow so I don't need locking diff or body on frame, love the trunk and in bed speakers, Honda reliability, peppy engine with no turbos that can fail and add maintenance cost, good fuel economy. Comfort, ride quality. In closing....don't really need a full size truck (I do love my Tundra tho!) Just gas prices these days....and the ridgeline does everything I need and is very comfortable. Also can lay a full 4×8 sheet FLAT in the back if need be. Without the new redesign I'd be out, the new front end is nice (I think).

@@billmills4040 thanks for the reply back Bill yes absolutely the redesign looks awesome to me as well. I love the look it’s the starting price that keeps me looking at other options. I’d get the base Sport model but here in FL they start at about $ 39k. The frontier rear seating area is tiny and I too have 2 kids. 12 and 9yr so room is important. The maverick pricing is super encouraging. Just the engine I’m trying to research.

Have had our 2022 RTL-E for about 3 months, 5001 miles as of today. Nice driver, very comfortable. But…the Apple CarPlay connectivity issues are causing us to rethink our purchase. Honda dealer claims it can’t find an issue. Our phones work fine with our VW and Toyota. In the Honda, sometimes the phone will stay connected for an hour, and sometimes for 5 minutes. The only way to reconnect is to restart the truck. I drive 60,000 miles a year for work and use CarPlay every day. If Honda can’t or won’t fix the issue, as much as I like this truck… We are out. A quick Google search reveals this is a known but unresolved issue to Honda .

Honda customers demand the timing belt on V6. Quicker throttle response and better VTEC performance. If the bodies were a little wider, they could use an I6 with a timing chain.

I honestly think Honda would be selling (at least) twice as many Ridgelines in the US as they do IF they had marketed it as a ute instead of a truck. The idea of what a truck is supposed to be is deeply engrained in this country, so much so that it stopped many people from ever giving it a chance. Now Ford has built their own "ute" they call a truck, in the Maverick, by basically using the Ridgeline's blueprint/DNA and adding to it. A uni-body truck by Ford ,is selling like hotcakes in the way the Ridgeline should have been doing all along.

Lincoln, Alabama doesn’t have enough capacity to produce enough Odyssey, Passport, Pilot, nor Ridgeline. The 1st generation Ridgeline was vastly under produced and couldn’t meet consumer demand. Around 2017, Honda USA executives wanted all midsized platform vehicles to look the same at the grill, and resulted in the 2nd generation Ridgeline being undistinguished and too feminine at the hood. The recently raised hood has helped the appearance greatly. Another issue is too much focus on the Passport as their premier off-road vehicle. The Ridgeline, with the longest wheelbase, needs the most ground clearance of any vehicle in their fleet. Also, heavier payloads and towing requires more suspension travel than other models. The artificial rubber looking line down from the rear window should be replaced by a legitimate rear-door seam to visually create the same affect without appearing too desperate to avoid an unibody appearance. For 2023, Honda is going back to the boxier look for their midsized product offerings. I got the 2020 lunar metallic Ridgeline RTL-E which correctly complements the chrome accidents. I traded-in my 2019 Ridgeline RTL-T just to get the German ZF 9-speed transaxle with paddle-shifters. That 9-speed drastically improves the Ridgeline’s handling and being able to use manual-shifting under heavy payloads, towing, or on mountain passes really sets it apart from earlier Ridgeline models.

I’m waiting for Honda to add the newer head unit that is already on the pilot, odyssey and passport, and I want them to fix the terrible adaptive cruise control and give it full stop / start capability. Again, something they have in other models that works well (Accord, CRV). Some hand-wringing Honda executive must be worried Americans won’t buy a Ridgeline without a “real” parking break.

At 55 years old I want a comfortable ride and the Ridgeline has that! If I need a truck that will haul more and pull more ….. that’s why U-Haul is around. I have no intention of beating a $45k ANYTHING to death off-road….that’s what a Ridgeline is for…. I have no need to replace the valves or engine at 8,000 miles (hint Silverado) that’s what a Ridgeline is for….. This day and time at the price of vehicles I want a vehicle that will run 300,000 miles plus ( my father-in-law’s Ridgeline) that’s what a Ridgeline is for…… Truck or not……to each his own opinion. I’ll keep my Ridgeline and see some of you others on the side of the interstate. That’s what a Ridgeline is for…… As far as Shreveport having the trophy for worst drivers……. I live in Montgomery, Alabama….and I think we have definitely taken that trophy away from ya’ll. 😂
