Been with my Kona N for 3 weeks now, 1.3k miles and I love it! Man I just wish we had the EU wheels and maybe HUD but that digital cluster is amazing so I don't really miss it. I love the size and the sound, I always drive in N mode, only move to ECO when in the highway. I picked it because I liked the interior layout over the competition and I prefer hatchbacks for the practicality.

Not sure if it's the same with the Kona, but in the Veloster N I actually get slightly better milage in N mode on the highway if I use cruise control than I do using ECO. It still opens up the motor/exhaust but will allow the car to shift up into 8th gear
@SergioPinhog2 жыл бұрын
@@JS-be8ll That's interesting, I usually get 28-33 mpg on the highway in ECO mode at 75-80 mph with cruise control and all the driving assist, sometimes I don't put it in ECO for 2-3 miles and I noticed I get 24-25 mpg, if I need to pass someone or suddenly go fast, I just press the right N button and it switches super quickly. From what I remember it seems to hang around 6th with N mode on the highway though, I need to pay more attention and test a little more. I do drive it a little faster around town in N mode getting 18-20mpg but so far for the 1.3k miles it shows 21-22mpg which I'm fine with. Coming form a 2015 V6 Mustang that did around below or around 19-20mpg, the Kona N seems alright, but I'm not that concerned about MPG the car is super fun to drive.

@@SergioPinhog like I said I don't know how the Kona's system works, but in the Veloster it goes into 8th on the highway (in cruise only) and I seem to get as good or SLIGHTLY better mileage than ECO. Check it next time you hit the highway, put it in cruise and switch to N mode.

I just got one and the wheelwells are pretty big.I think 245 series tires would make this even more of a little track monster.They also have cross drilled and slotted rear brakes for it if someone wants that extra percent of stopping power.I honestly do not need anything more then this.It is both fuel effcient and fast--and although there is a lot of plastic in the interior--the stereo--brakes--engine--tranny and suspension hit way above the class.

Not gonna lie, I didn’t like this vehicles design at first but I kinda get it now and appreciate Hyundai’s unorthodox/funky approach to its design language. Picking up one of these very soon. I had a 19’ VW GTI before this so I feel like it makes sense from an upgrade standpoint.

Replace the summer tires with all season, and run them at 40 psi hot. Only ' downside' is no AWD, no sunroof, and it uses premium gas, at up to 60 cents per gallon more than the N Line uses.

They’ve incredibly similar. Same diff, same EPS, same weighting and such. Behind the wheel it near as makes no difference. If I’m really looking hard I like the Elantras just a hair better and I think that might be due to the grip from the Michelins

Any owners here to share their experience with the car? I'm on the fence primarily due to my previous experience with the brand. There weren't may aftermarket shops for the brand, but more importantly, it lacked the independent shop network of other brands while having the general reliability of a VW. I eventually dumped my Forte Turbo for a GTI but this Konda N scratches an itch for a smaller CUV that drives like a hot hatch. Only ones in the market are this car and the CX5 (10 inches longer than a GTI is perfect) but both are likely to be sunset in a few. The cx5 turbo has more years on the market and seemingly decent reliability .

Kona N is more than just a big trunk. You can lift the gate at sit back there if your at a park, drive inn movie, beach, etc. You can't do that with elantra even it does have more space.

It really bugs me that the sunroof and HUD are not available in the states… plus some other tech, like adaptive cruise and lane keep assist (I think). With these things, I would have already bought a Kona N… without, I’m still looking…
@dwnshft2 жыл бұрын
what else are you looking at?
@SergioPinhog2 жыл бұрын
We have Lane Keep Assist and Lane Following Assist. I would like their Adaptive cruise or their Highway Drive assist, but I just use cruise with LKA and LFA and I imagine its basically the same but the car brakes and speeds up by itself. I thought I wanted the HUD but have not missed it here yet as the digital cluster looks amazing, I have in on my 18 Velar and I love it, but I think its because it's a big car and the digital cluster is kinda boring, and its projected onto the windshield vs the Kona being a popup one. Same thing with the sunroof, I don't remember last time I opened the cover on my velar. But this is all my personal preferences and view on the car Only other nitpick with the Kona N is the wireless charger is basically useless if you want to use Carplay, since the cable sticks out too much, but I hear some 2022 Hyundai and Genesis models might be getting a OTA update to enable wireless carplay and apple carkey, so I'm really hoping the 2022 Kona N is getting those which would be a big plus for this car! I overall really like the car, drives amazing, sounds amazing and I never felt like it was small!
@djmattplay2 жыл бұрын
@@SergioPinhog thanks a lot for the clarification and also perspective after having the car. I’ve been considering staying with what I have (06 Ridgeline & 00 Prelude) but kinda want something that can be both fun to drive and a practical all-in-one vehicle. I’ve also been looking at the Kona N Line, but dislike the seat material and wheels, but like the AWD, sunroof and tech - and wonder if it’s still fun enough to drive. I lean toward the N with performance, looks, seats and wheels. Also looking at the Tucson, definitely not the performance I’d like to have but the extra room and all the tech is attractive. All that said.. Kona N is still more my style. I’d need to put all season tires on it but can def live without HUD and sunroof. Good to know it has LKA and LFA. Thanks..
@SergioPinhog2 жыл бұрын
@@djmattplay If you need a lot of space, I can definitely say the Kona N might be too small, but damn this thing is so fun to drive. You can also drop the back seats down to carry more stuff, so far I haven't had any problems carrying everyday stuff, big grocery stores runs and fitting 4 people in there, also I'm 6'1 and can fit behind myself no problem, but it's a little tight. If you can live without a few bits of tech I'd say its worth it, personally, I haven't missed any of that, however if the AWD is important to you, then maybe look elsewhere, but I don't need it where I live. I would definitely say the Kona N is a solid choice, I found it to be a good car compared to the others I was look at, VW GTI, Elantra N, Kia Forte GT, Kia Stinger, used M2, used S3, Subaru WRX, Civic Si and Type R
