The 2022 Jaguar I-PACE (~$105,204 CAD as specced, $73,895 USD as specced) is a fully electric all wheel drive SUV with 394 horsepower and 512 lb ft of torque. With a rated 234 miles of EPA range (376 km), and a spacious interior, Thomas and James are curious how well the Jaguar I-PACE fairs as a daily driver EV. Will it be able to stand out among some fierce EV competitors in this price bracket? Watch to find out what they think! We hope you enjoy the episode. Subscribe!!

I have one and it is fantastic. Very high quality, no issues for 3 years, charging overnight is not a problem because you never get home with 0% left. You might have 20% and charge to 100% overnight. I never considered an electric car until I drove this, no regrets after 3 years. New one ordered.

Honestly, the 911s kind of stole the video. To the point of me forgetting that this was all about the Jag. The whole thing felt like IRL Need for Speed third-person gameplay. And I loved it! And the fact that that the I-Pace made no noise just made the video even more relaxing to watch.

We got lucky and picked one up last year when no one was buying them..new left over 2020 that will end up costing us well under 50,000 after the ev credit. My issue with the range is that you end up driving it too spiritedly to get good range, lol! It was also one of the best winter vehicles we have had once we put snow tires on it to replace the summers.

The electric Jag is really awesome on road, off-road.. is such a well build very balanced allrounder since from the beginning when i first see it on the internet reviews it didn't really have so many competitors except (Tesla 3, Y and latter Polstar 2).. anyway, it wasn't available in my country (because pandemic situation and other factors at least from the end of last year), sadly now when it is available.. but meanwhile other things did spun out : compared to Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6 GT is a bit too expensive for those who would like it & want it to be a bit more affordable in first place.. imagine now in 2022 when for similar price one could get a Rivian R1T ..

Fun review! I own an i-pace and an e-tron. The e-tron is an executive saloon disguised as a crossover, the i-pace is an adrenaline-dosing sports car disguised as a crossover. i-pace is INSANELY fun to drive, every move feels exciting; e-tron is so quiet and floaty you forget you're driving. e-tron is invisible, just another generic boxy child carrier. i-pace is a head turner, sexy and sleek, I constantly get asked what it is. It's also a killer city car, smaller than it looks, easy to park and maneuver. e-tron's slick tech wipes the floor with jag's clunky UX. Horses for courses, I'm super lucky to have both flavors on demand.

If you don't plan to do too many road trips, this car is AMAZING as far as driving dynamics! There is OK feel to the wheel. Charges slow compared to a Tesla Model Y/Ioniq5/EV6, and I'd argue is more luxurious than the Genesis GV60 (I think its GV or EV?) Get it in Blue or Black, maybe grey. Just takes longer to charge on road trips, but if you're just going to drive it daily around town, and take it to a canyon (or even a track) on the weekends, you can have SO much fun!. The comfort/quietness (and sound system) do make it nice on road trips, though plan to stop a bit longer to charge. Took one on a trip and average around 30 mins charging stops. ON my Tesla Model Y I now average 15-20 mins, but man, I wish I was driving the I-PACE! I would have said earlier "Don't buy CCS cars, go tesla if you need to go on trips and DC fast charge, but on road trips, DON'T charge past 70-80%(even on daily basis). But now that Tesla is starting to open up their Super Charger network to CS cars with the Magic Dock... I kinda wish I'd have another car rather than MOdel Y (Mach-E GT? e-Tron? BUt I would seriously consider an I-PACE if I was going to drive and didn't need to go on trips as often as I do. As far as the Price, a Nicely speck Mustang Mach-E GT (if you can get one at MSRP) will cost you near $70K. a Performance Model Y (if you pay for enhanced autopilot) will break $70K, and w/o EAP, it will still be near $70K< and NEITHER of those car feel luxurious! The Jag IS a luxury brand, so as far as Price, you pay for Luxury. Tesla Model S is not as nice to drive, and cost $30K more. and has Lots of fit & finish issues. (Sorry for long post, but, thought I wanted to share that) I'd get a Jag, and frankly, would consider swapping my model Y and maybe take "more reaxled" trips, rather than stop at chargers for 10-17 minutes, and not be able to eat dinner, get a snack, bathroom, etc :)

Part of the reason of it being so quiet and efficient for being an early EV is that they spent a lot of effort on aero. If you see that in detail there is a massive cutout/ air channel from the grille through the hood to tame the air hitting the windshield, and guide it over the roof to the rear spoiler where there are vortex generators on each side so you hear less from the air wrapping around. The MASSIVE diffuser in the rear helps too.

Spot on review. I bought an ipace after trying the competition including the Mach E. The ipace is the only drivers car in this segment. Period. I drive a Yamaha R6 and had a sports coupe before and I still get an exciting drive. The suspension is great! The suspension lets the Mach-E down. It is too soft and then oddly stiff. Seems like soft high speed compression and can be quite harsh, yet still leans more than the jag.

My son has an I-Pace. He loves it, and from what I have seen of it, Tom and James are right on with their comments--except that he got his at a steep discount because it was a previous year's model that hadn't sold.

I had the pleasure of having an extended test drive of one of these. Certainly the best EV i've driven to date, I also test driven the Ioniq 5 and EV6 and although neither of these were the top of the range models, it felt incredibly underwhelming compared to the jag. The two reasons why I didn't go for this was the size (coming from a skoda superb) and the terrible software. The satnav died on us a number of times in the two days we had the car... the 'fix' for it was to shut the car off and go away for 10 minutes... which really isnt convenient when you're in the middle of nowhere. Had I not had 2 kids and a dog... I would probably bought this car. Instead i've gone for the merc eqb 350, probably not as fast or sporty but it has a lot more space and is more convenient with children.

Great review. I drove one of these back-to-back with Audi's electric SUV, and I liked the Jag a lot better. The Audi has slightly better tech and it's a bit better for families, but this Jaguar drives so much better there's no comparison. If you're into good driving dynamics, the i-Pace is definitely the way to go.

Thank you for mentioning charging etiquette. A lot of people are still using EV charging stations as places to park because it is conveniently closer. The other day, 2 EA charging station was not working. And one guy already completed his charge. He left his car to go shopping and it was on idle for 10 minutes. So I took it out and use it to charge my car. When he came back he was on the phone complaining that someone removed it. I told him it was fully charge, and he said, well 99% and drove away disappointed.

This has been out for 4 years now, but since more mainstream manufacturers are putting out EVs, people are finally really looking at it. Basically, it was ahead of its time.
@updlate4756

The problem was that when this came out four years ago, no one understood what range an EV needed to be a solid vehicle. All of the Tesla fanfiction EV blogs and fanbois absolutely crapped on this car for its range and performance as they tried to undermine all other companies and pump that stock. The criticism of the infotainment lag was deserved though. They seem to have improved it since then. The criticism of the range was always bunk though.

I bought mine in the middle of 2020 for a fairly steep discount. The car is easily worth $70 k. I've regularly exceeded range estimates and hit 270+ miles at consistent highway speeds 65-70 mph (less than ~1 kwh regenerated over 200 miles with HVAC on, 20 inch tires, very little drafting). Pretty happy overall.

I drove this back to back against an Audi E Tron SUV. The Jag is better in every single way bar the technology (which apparently has improved a lot with OTA updates.) The Audi doesn't hold a candle to the Jags driving dynamics, and the Jag is every bit as spacious inside while being considerably shorter. It also felt a lot quicker compared to the Audis very numbed throttle response. Fast charging and a decent price in the UK will probably make it my next car. It also looks spectacular as well. I was massively impressed with its build quality too and they seem to be holding up very well according to owners.

Have my 23MY on order. Tough decision on 20” vs 22” wheels. Went with 20” to save a few bucks, ride a tad smoother, and the actual spec size difference between the appears hardly noticeable. I don’t plan on a lot of aggressive driving either. Thoughts please?

Yeah, was sad to see that. However, watched the NVIDIA GTC keynote this week and with them moving to that centralised and very powerful platform for next vehicles then their electronics should be right up there for the first time ever. Can they still get the looks and dynamics started in the iPace though and to me those aspects are still more important.
