I'm a Voyager fan, and I wouldn't allow 'connectivity' to spoil my riding, enjoying the freedom, the wind, the sub, the road for the sake of staying connected. For me it's all about disconnecting, and just riding which is the whole point, imo. I don't listen to radio/music when riding either. By sticking with a design formula for years sends a big message. Kawasaki are clearly ok with their design, the loyal customers are always happy, and it all basically works. The Japanese, especially industrialists, will readily admit to being better developers than innovators. The big Voyager looks as good as the day I first saw one, imo. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work. 👍✌

I have the same year. I changed the stereo to a Sony 400 watt with BT. Used Engineered Adapters wire harness, handlebar control adaptor and 6.5 in speaker adaptors... with the price and great addition. I also changed the bars and pipes to Sharkroads. Upgraded headlight and fog light bulbs. It is a great bike and even with upgrades a much better value than many other touring bikes.

@@elitepatrol3256you cld have a radio shop install a solid state bluetooth, small power amp, and maybe better speakers, and all your radio complaints will be laid to rest. easy peezy. very simple for those radio shops. prolly be done in less than two hours. and yes. the hand controls will still control the radio. the volume and clarity will increase even without new speakers, just an amp. and hard wired solid state bluetooth would automatically connect and turn on and off with the head unit, splices right into the back of the radio

Thanks for the video. Changing the design every year would increase the price. That's why these bikes are so affordable. Same old style but with new technology where it matters. By the way, it has that classic vibe most bikers love. The pearl white/teal is beautiful. Two Kawasaki dealers in our region sold all the 2023 Vulcans they had. They are now accepting down-payment for the 2024 model!!! No idea what they will look like though (colour wise).

@elitepatrol3256 You: "No reason to trade in your old bike for a new one". Me: "Are you on drugs"? You already gave (1) reason for trading your bike with your first statement. Why would you trade it in if you already like the classic styling of the Voyager/Vaqureo? You bought the Voyager because of its "Harley-esq" classic styling.

My last bike was a 2003 Suzuki Volusia 2001-2005, and then it became a C50, which just came out with a 2023 model this year. The only changes, as far as I can tell, are fuel injection and reshaping of the blinkers. So, as far as changing things for the sake of change. My thoughts are that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Mine was 19 years old and cranked every time I touched the starter. I finally traded up to an Indian Pursuit Limited. The sound system will blow your ears out at half volume, and I've never had so much tech, even in my car. Now I just go out and enjoy the ride like I've always done just in more comfort. Enjoy it.

For Nav and Bluetooth: I mounted a Garmin Zumo XT (there’s a spot in the stereo harness to power GPS), changed the power outlets to one with usb and usb-c ports, just throw my phone in the right side glovebox. Phone to GPS, GPS to Sena in my helmet. Phone, gps voice, and music streaming. Ivan’s tune works great and he turns it in a couple days.

This bike and the vaquero are on my short list for a bagger to add to my FZ1. I really want an Indian challenger but to pay as much for a motorcycle as I did for my low mile half ton pickup or my new 30ft RV is something I can't get over. These look pretty good for a metric cruiser and in it's defense HD's have looked the same for 40 yrs. Thanks for the review, time to start saving.

I have the exact same bike. The rattle was disappointing but Kawasaki offers a complimentary fix. I called corporate and they sent the rattle fix kit directly to me. I did a preliminary install myself and had the rest done by the Kawasaki dealership. It’s no doubt easy to install by yourself but I had a challenge removing the chrome piece; as it is made of plastic, I didn’t want to risk breaking it! Regarding Bluetooth, for $15-$20, a Bluetooth transmitter from Best Buy or Amazon that plugs into the bike’s cigarette lighter will provide a rich Bluetooth experience through the radio along with providing three USB outlets! The radio itself provides abysmal sound, but amazingly, by steaming music 🎶 over Bluetooth through Deezer or Sirius XM, the sound through the stock speakers is amazing and loud at that. Just remember to opt for high fidelity in your streaming service settings. Enjoy…

Regarding not changing the look of the bike since 2010, I believe the company fell upon a perennial ageless style that works year in and year out. Ongoing, I get compliments from young and old. The Voyager XII started in 1986, changed up for ‘87, and ran up into the 2000’s basically unchanged. They were good competition for the GL1200 of the time, GL1500, Venture 1200, buried the Cavalcade and yes they whipped the pee pees off Harley Davidson touring bikes for 15 years. If there’s one thing Kawasaki does it’s ride a good horse into battle and stay on him until he’s completely dead. But remember, once the Voyager XII went away we got the Vulcan 2000 which is still the largest production V twin.

My complaint about the Voyager is the lack of accessories. You would think after 14 years of manufacturing that there would be a ton of accessories to personalize your bike...but, no! I understand Kawasaki wants to keep the price down, but that should be all the more reason to offer customers more accessories so they can upgrade their bikes the way they want. There is no reason why Kawasaki can't offer radio upgrades like bluetooth or real saddlebag liners instead of removable bags. This is the main reason I won't be upgrading to a new Voyager unless they make some serious changes. I'm going to bite the bullet a buy a Honda Goldwing, or even a Harley-Davidson. At the end of the day, theses bikes may cost a little more, but the amount of options you have to personalize and customize your bike is well worth it!

@elitepatrol3256 Жыл бұрын
The engine vibration is minimal in my opinion, you can feel the vibrations in the seat, floor boards and handlebars but that's where they stop and they aren't an amount that is uncomfortable for me. The vibrations don't carry through your entire body and rattle your teeth or brains. I'm assuming you're asking because you don't have a close enough dealer to justify a trip to sit on one and start it up but if you do then I recommend that!

If it's not broke you don't fix it. The style hasn't changed because it's a killer look. You talk about a budget touring bike, that may be because they haven't changed the style in years. However, if you get the ipod adaptor (30 pin? really? thats a decade out dated!) and get a ipod bluetooth adaptor dongle then you have the ability to skip tracks as well as volume and whatnot. Its a total kludge and Kawasaki REALLY needed to update the radio but given how poor sales are on the vulcans, Im not surprised that they arent spending any money on changing tooling to update it. They design and style of touring bikes stay the same for a reason. The bikes are excellent at what they do which is get you places in comfort. Refine...don't replace! Once you find the shapes and designs that work and you abandon them for something new you risk losing your base customers. They upgrade electronics and do dads but the look and shape works. I think of the great bikes that are gone because some designer thought changes were necessary. Look at what crazy designs did for Victory. Look at why the classic lines of Harley and Indian have changed so little. Kawasaki designs the touring bike to be similar to the Harley visually. Though it lacks the acceleration it seems to surpass them in suspension and the water cooled engine is great. The fairing is nicer than that of the Harley. The Kawasaki doesn't look like a Prius with handlbars like the Goldwing does. I had 3 Kawasakis and the thing that hurt them in my experience was the frequent changes meant parts were never available. On 2 three year old bikes I couldn't get some common parts. At 7 years old even common parts for my little KZ 450cc commuter weren't available. I tried 3 dealers. The dealers said they weren't available any more. There aren't aftermarket repair parts for Kawasakis like for cars and Harley. The Kawasaki dealers local to me wouldn't touch a ten year old bike for repairs. Two of those dealers folded.

Mine has never overheated, the gauges on these will run 3/4 of the way almost all the time. Apparently that is how these bikes have always been. If it's in the red and pegged out then you have a problem.

The radio set up is a big reason the price is what it is. My Gold Wing has 11000 buttons and switches and I don't use any of them. I use a Cardio and my cell phone for everything else from music to phone/intercom to navigation. If I was to get another touring bike a Voyager or Star would be the one. No way I can justify the stupid money for a HD just for the name plate.

Well the fan system to disperse the heat off the rider's legs was not available on the 2010 or 2011 model (that is a difference), only the 2012 and up. And honestly, I only bought this bike actually because it has NOT changed. That was the appeal for me. And you are wrong, it is EXTREMELY costly for a motorcycle manufacturer to change a design, and if they do, the price of the bike will skyrocket (not sure where you got that info from). I know you say you like how the bike runs "as is," but I am telling you - if you get the ECU flashed by IVAN or Moore's Mafia (I went with Moore's) you will never go back. It completely turns this into a different machine. I would sell the bike if I had to go back to the stock ECU settings, it's that much an improvement. Just saying.

surprising that Kawasaki would put a product out where you would have that rattle. Didn't they offer to fix it?
@elitepatrol3256

I agree it is surprising but I never asked the dealer or anything for a fix, they're 600 miles away from me so it's easier for me to just do a fix. I'll get some foam and stick it underneath like others have suggested and done

your negatives aren't important as the positives--- affordability, smooth reliable drive train but style and radio?

Yeah, I'm at 2k now and those are still my only negatives. The radio and tank chrome piece are really the only ones I have for it. Give me 10 years with my current bike and if the style still hasn't changed then I'll add it to one of my real complaints.

I'm a little confused. You say early on that you bought it because of the way it looks. Then you carp about the bike design not changing and no one knows if you're riding a '10 or a '22. Stencil the year model on the saddle bag if you're worried that people think your riding an older bike.

I personally enjoy the look of the bike, it's my first ever and I love it! BUT in 10 years or 15, if I was in the market for an upgrade and the 2033-2037 model year bike was identical to what I purchased in 2022, I would be pretty bummed out I think. I mean I'd be tickled if they upgraded the technology in the front fairing and leave the looks alone. From 2010 to 2023 the bikes are identical in every way (kact and Kams are the only differences). The bikes are gorgeous and get complimented all the time, but not having things like built-in bluetooth radio seems silly in today's technological world. Those are standard options on vehicles anymore.

I love the bike, but Kawasaki needs to bring their radio technology into the 21st century. it's sad the people have to replace the stock radio just to have modern conveniences that everyone else already has, electronics are cheap.

I have a 2014, only difference is the color. Great bike for the money. Radio isn’t that good. I have 47k on it now and no plans to get any thing else for now. Don’t really like the K-act brake system but have gotten used to it. The Ivan flash is a must for this bike for sure. This bike will cruise with the best and handles better than you would expect for 900 lbs. a driver backrest and cruise pegs make it great for the long haul. I have many long trips, several over 2000 miles with another planned for September. That is a great color. By the way, there is a great forum for these bikes if you have questions.

Harley and Indian are consistently changing front lights, fairing, but they are over all pretty consistent except paint jobs and bag types Now cooled seats and heated seats you need a cvo or elite

I don't have an issue with it really, I typically wear blue jeans and boots, and it's not bad in my opinion. I can feel the heat but it's not unbearably bad.

Porsche has the same look on the 911 Turbo for the longest time outside of technology like the Motor and electronics to better why change the looks to maybe something worse. I think the looks is beautiful. but those cheap Speakers and a blue tooth needs to happen from factory.

There is NO reason to change something that works. When you buy a bike, you buy it to ride for many years. It is NORMAL to NOT have planned obsolescence. Not having to buy a new bike IS what people like. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I can tell you’re not a true Kawasaki fan . To many nags and complaints . When us true Japanese bike lovers . Know that the real treasure in the Kawasaki family bikes is the RELIANCE!!!!! I can’t say that enough !!!! Next time do your research and watch other reviewers before you purchase! The complaints you have is about the basic features of bike that Kawasaki hasn’t changed FOR YEARS 😅 dude . At this point , the real Kawasaki fan boys and girls already know these things and we have the patience to wait until they upgrade hopefully they will with 2024 model . 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴 rant over ✌🏽

I love my Voyager! I mention in the videos that my complaints are really miniscule with all things considered. Believe me, I did lots of video watching and looking at all of the bikes in this category. I don't spend 5 digits without being sure im getting the most value for my money. I ultimately settled on the Voyager because of the price. You can be a fan of something but not agree with the company on some decisions. Kawasaki could very easily change the head unit to a fully integrated system that connects with your phone right out of the box without having to buy accessories to do so. If I can buy a helmet that has fully integrated bluetooth, intercom and the abilty to link and connect multiple riders for under 300 dollars then Kawasaki can definitely put a radio in that does the same stuff and it really shouldn't cost them a lot to do so. They wouldn't have to change the design of the bike at all. They need to keep with the times in order to entice some new riders and give some existing riders a reason to upgrade.
