2022 Kia Carnival Sliding Door Malfunction

My brand new 2022 Kia Carnival's right passenger door doesn't close. I need to turn off the "Power Door" feature in order to close this manually.

Just had this happen to my 23 Carnival, and it was the door strip. Gotta love KZfaq for the answers.

Thank you for this post and for the response from Drive with Lester. I had the very same problem on my new Carnival. Dave's reply was how I fixed my door! It was the very same issue. Gotta love KZfaq readers and posters!

@matrixhabb1 there should be some black rubber trim around the door that has slid off the metal framing of the door. The trim will activate the opening of the door just like a child's arm or leg being caught

Hey bkieandbus, just make sure there's nothing blocking the door from closing. I would check all rubber and make sure that nothing is out of alignment and nothing is damaged.

[FIX]: In my case, it was the rubber on the door frame, at the bottom. It was out of place and ran into the front door just before closing; that caused the opening security mechanism to be activated. I hope that helps!

I had the same issue, the weather strip had a damage at the bottom, which prevented the door from closing automatically. Dealer fixed it by replacing the rubber strip. Thank you for commenting.

@@JoseVieitez Nope, they initially billed me but when I pointed out that this should be covered under warranty, the charges were removed.

Yes, I had the same problem and the rubber at the bottom of the door frame was loose. After reattaching it worked perfectly.

It's crazy to me that 2600 people have viewed this video and I can only imagine that 2600 people have had the same issue. The sliding doors on the carnival seemed to have a crazy amount of issues, that should have been addressed during manufacturing. However, I'm very thankful for your video because I was in a panic when my door would not close. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

Thank you for your comment Ky! Check the weather strip around the door and the frame. If there is a slight misalignment, the security feature prevents the door from closing.

Hi thanks for the video and all the comments I had same problem on the 23 model and yes it was just the tip of the rubber on the bottom, really appreciate the help as the car is only 3 days old and really don't want to go back to dealer so soon

My carnival has a similar issue, but instead of not closing, it won't open. When I push and hold the button, it beeps but nothing happens

Is it on the driver's side? Kia Carnival's driver's side sliding will not budge if the gas cap is not closed properly. Open and close the gas tank lid and try again.

@@mohamadnorfazliosman6058 check the weather strip on the door edge. If the issues is on the driver side sliding door not opening, then check if the fuel door is properly closed.

Dealer fixed it by replacing the rubber strip. Hope you got yours fixed too. Nevertheless, I love my Kia Carnival!!!Thank you for commenting.

@@TeamPasanNivasa My dealer in Mumbai, sevri, he checked everything but couldnt find the root cause. He simply unplugged all wires and replugged them and the door statted working correctly.
