Very much the recent KIA design. I have been waiting for this. I am going to be getting one of these for sure. Can’t wait until they come out in America. Here we will get the 2.5. I like this better because it comes with dual port injection. We don’t have to worry about the direct injection ruining the engine prematurely here.

It is somewhat tragic that car manufacturers always charge enough for the efficient versions of their cars, like the extra $5k here, which when you add in the cost of insurance, depreciation, and taxes, cancels out all of the savings on the gas you save. No real progress is being made while this is happening. I noticed that Ford has put Hybrid in their lowest model of the new Maverick, this is a very positive development, and I hope that Kia gets that message.

The huge issue with these styles of cars is the massive pull down in resale value. It's common for anything 'Hybrid' to cop a 70% depreciation fairly fast. This is something that's rarely ever spoken about.

Loving the new Sportage man! Especially the interior

There is a little difference in lower grill in the front facia between this hybrid and the petrol engine you reviewed. I prefer the former. Nice that this is faster but the engine sounds loud and revs Hugh when you were putting it to the test like it was squealing in pain. Wish it had AWD because that is necessary for those of us in heavy snow areas. Lovely review as always.

Love your channel as it gives me a preview of what's coming to the US. I own a Tucson AWD Hybrid, what's your opinion on the Sportage vs Tucson in Handling, Acceleration, Driving Dynamics? My last car was a Acura RDX AWD and I was really surprised that the Tucson was much closer to the RDX in those aspects (while being significantly cheaper and double the gas mileage).

No AWD is unfortunate, and not sure if it can still tow 2000 lbs. I think the Sorento has the same powertrain but with AWD and can tow, but it's a bigger heavier vehicle with 3rd row seating that I don't need.

In Australia, Toyota hybrids are quite popular as Toyota only charge an extra 2000-3000 AUD for the hybrid models, which use much less fuel and are also nicer to drive.

Great review. I want to see the review of Kia Sorento PHEV 2022 doing 0 to 60. I have seen the santa fe or Sorento PHEV failing to go faster than 8.2 seconds. While the salesperson says it should do 6.5 seconds. Something is not right with these PHEVs of KIA & HYUNDAI. With more powerful motor they should be able to do 6.5 but none of them are able to do 7 or better.

Ours Diesel is on order, however, my concern is the speed. in which you travel on a public road

Funny in America this seems to be the new 2023 kia sportage hybrid sx prestige trim which is top of the line but we dont get some of the features as you do in Korea which I feel if the car is made in Korea it should have the features like heated rear seats and the walking passenger seat. They have the navy/gray interior only available on the ex trim which I really like but I tested the sx prestige that gives you the blacked out trim and the bigger screen and the blind spot in the gauge cluster all led lights and the smart parking which the ex just has a premium package we could add on which gives us the panoramic roof and power lift gate and some lighting features. Since dealerships arent getting that much inventory it's hard to get the vehicles we want and then theres a dealership mark up. This drove better than the rav 4 which won me over I'm just worried about the turbo engine and its reliability.

Kia is winning with design lately.

Perhaps Kia may consider USA EV/Hybrid plants built in America, perhaps along the Rocky Mountain Basin to reduce shipping costs to either coast such as Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming. Having a new local factory can help reduce costs even further, not to mention making luxury options which Germans seem have as standards, yet American automakers continue to make as options w/extra cost. American’s are tired of having to pay for add’l costs for luxury standards so please consider a plant in the USA.

Sportage that will be sold in Europe will be significantly shorter in length compared to the global version (as seen in the video)

It sucks that the U.S wont be getting this version until two years from now while South Korea and most other countries will have it end of this year

What's so weird on pricing is that I got back from Joe Myer's Kia and they want $36,550 before tax, title, more fees USD for a non-hybrid EX trim, yet in Korea the more expensive hybrid trim is only $26K??? Yet I hear in Korea that Korean made Samsung TVs cost more in Korea than they do in the USA.

I did have one important question tho: How is the road noise and wind noise at high speeds on the high way? Here in the US most of our driving is done on the highways at 100km-120km per hour. How quiet is the inside at those speeds? And how is the ride compared to the Tucson? Is it as comfortable and fun as the Tucson? Knowing these two will tell me whether I should put a deposit down to secure this SUV or look for another. Thank you!

This is certainly a different sportsge from the early generation, I like the inclusion of the HEV and the small engine and diesel are true to the sportsge, but the price position is not true sportsge heritage.

No AWD available? In the states they did this with the Sorento. Makes little sense to me because I live in the north. Won’t do front drive only with all that torque. Waiting for Sorento AWD PHEV or this in PHEV AWD.

Much, much more attractive than the overstyled Tucson with creases and bulges everywhere that looks like an origami exercise or a spaceship from a 1930's Buck Rogers movie serial. Unfortunately, however, the hybrid lacks an AWD option the Tucson has. That, I think, is HUGE mistake.

Is there a filter with cooling fan for the batteries?

How does it compare to Tuscon hybrid in handling? I am based on US, here Tuscon hev is AWD. So a fair comparison needs AWD for both though...
