I think the new klr looks awesome stripped down.Im thinking about taking everything I don't absolutely have to have off and see how it performs with all the extra weight removed, fairing and all.as far as the bike not having enough battery,stator etc to power accessories, I wonder if you can add a capacitor to store juice like we used to do with our sound systems back in the day when the amps pulled more power than the battery and alternator could make we would put a capacitor.just thought to have enough power to run a bunch of extra stuff.

Great video. My base has the fuse in the fuse panel. Quick question. When aux lights are plugged into that connector...do they come on when you switch to high beams or do they come on using a switch you put in the spot above the 12v socket space? Thanks

Thank you for video!!! I have a gps that I had hardwired to battery on my old KLR. Zumo 396. I want to hardwire it again on my 2023 klr. Can I just attach the two wires to the accessory port after relay install? Running that wire back to battery seems stupid. I still want to do the power port install for usb charging but I want my gps hard wired. 2023 base model

Thats awesome information, thanks Tim. I have the base model with ABS and I'm adding auxiliary lights- I guess I just ground them to the frame somewhere ?

After you add the relay are those auxiliary light spots running power all the time or do you need to purchase a switch to turn them on or off??
@MrGrant4402 жыл бұрын
You are correct. That wire is there. I have the basic model.. I just had to add the relay and they was able to install the 12v plug and usb, i also didn’t add a fuse. And everything seems to be working properly. You going to hook up your hand warmers to that factory. Or are you going to just go to the battery.

Hey Tim Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Is that the stock OEM USB port on the left side and if so where do you plug the connector in? Thanks in advance.
@danreich43208 ай бұрын
I could not tell either.
@Garland772 жыл бұрын
Do you have any idea what that connector is under the seat just a bit forward of the fuse boxes? There is a white tag very near it.
@2talltimadventures2 жыл бұрын
I believe that is a rectifier plug, if i'm not mistaken there should be AC voltage on one side and DC voltage on the other. That allows the bike to run on stator even when the battery dosnt have power. I could be mistaken on the purpose but pretty sure they are rectifiers. I would leave them alone.
@micah6872 Жыл бұрын
Hey Tim just subscribed. Wondering if you have a video on how to remove the headlight assembly? Thanks in advance and ride safe.
@2talltimadventures Жыл бұрын
No I do not. Its not terriblely hard just takes time and patience. Once the bike is stripped of the windshield and nose fairing it's just a few bolts. I no longer have my bike or I would do a video for you. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.

There's another white capped power lead in the "bucket" beside the heated grips connector you pointed out. Is that another open ignition powered port?
@2talltimadventures25 күн бұрын
@@cryagen2105 my apologies it's been while since I made this video. But if I recall there were wires coming out of the other side of that connection. Might not look that way in the video but I believe it did.

Hey Tim I have a traveler model as well. Could I connect the tusk heated grips to that OEM connector plug that’s under the gas tank or the one next to it? Thanks in advance for the reply
@2talltimadventures5 ай бұрын
Yes that's where I connected mine. Just have to cut and make your own terminals since the factory one is specific.

Hi Tim, I’m adding a twin USB port on the right, and a 12v socket on the left, to my ‘23 base model by here in Australia. I have hooked up my twin USB port on the right side to the green terminals and it works fine, but can’t work out where to connect the 12v terminal on the left. I couldn’t make out where the connection is on the right. Are you able to give some hints? Cheers!
@2talltimadventures Жыл бұрын
I believe they both use the same power feed/ wire. Mine has the OEM ports on it and they are both connected to the same one just behind the speedo cluster. I tapped into it for my GPS also.
