Mazda's first EV is a pretty good one, and makes for a great city car. However, it has stiff competition from the likes of Polestar and Tesla. Can it justify it's price and relatively small range?

Thank you for a fantastic review. This car always gets the short end because of its doors and range but it is so so so much more. I have been driving this car for about 11 months and I still look forward to driving it every day. It does not have the most "high performance" motor but it is just enough so it is fun to drive. The fact that it has no "drive selection" means that it is always tuned to deliver its highest performance and the pedal breaking is so much fun to play with. It also has "hold break" for traffic that you can operate via button which is awesome and I miss when I drive higher end cars like the mercedes or audi, you always need to hold the brake when stopped or switch to neutral. Also the interior is quite amazing. On either side of the floating console in the middle you can actually fit your mobile phone, no review seems to feature this or mention it. Its an amazingly well designed car from A-Z for it's use but I am amazed that it is being sold so expensive in the States as I bought it for just under 28.000 USD in Iceland of all countries. For that price it was the definitive winner of price per KWH. Currently I am getting about 3 miles per KWH (4.9km per KWH or 20.4 KWH per 100.)

It's certainly a good option if you're not frequenting the back doors, or need to drive it too far too often.

Bet Mazda will sell a lot of them here in Australia... I don't think 🤪

Simply needs more range for the price.

I like the way it looks and it would be fine for most people's needs. I personally wouldn't take any ev on any type of long distance trip anyway.

It's true. But most potential buyers will be a bit nervous with this unique body style, on top of it being a relatively short range EV for the price.

It’s a very expensive urban only 2nd car. Want to take the kids to the beach for the day? You’ll need your other car.

Don't think a beach day is that far for the majority of Aussies. More like a snow trip.

@@ProductReviewCars It wouldn’t want to be far! Melbourne to Portsea or Lorne would push the limits. As would Brisbane to Noosa.

POS. Mazda already stopped selling them in USA after moving a whopping ~500 this year. Mazda is following the Honda and Toyota “no one wants EVs” philosophy.

It's a great proof of concept. Just needs more range and more doors.

If it was $45k and not $65k you might accept the pathetic range. But the stupid doors and access are a poor copy of the original reason for suicide doors. You would have to be a Mazda fangirl hairdresser to want this car.
