You're welcome - I've just saved you $300,000! How? The Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 is a cut-price version of the big and luxurious Rolls-Royce Cullinan. While it may not use a V12 engine, it does have a pretty punchy twin-turbocharged V8. Is it any good? Paul Maric finds out.

Excellent review Paul. Love this GLS Maybach. I reviewed the GLS 580 and it’s interior is truly phenomenal - massage, seat kinetics, and energizing comfort are my best features. I really need to find someone to help me film like you!

It kind of looks like they have thrown the Autobarn Christmas catalogue of body enhancing chrome and mesh at it. Pretty vulgar if I'm honest. That said the body control and ride comfort as shown looks truly sumptuous.

Great review Paul, the suspension feature is awesome. Is it only me or is it in general, the exterior is so bling and the front looks terrible, something like an after market work. Exterior and interior are Mike's apart.

Do these vehicles (Range Rover, Rolls Royce etc) include noise cancellation through the speakers? My 2008 Accord V6 Luxury had it and it reduced the cabin noise levels by 10dB.

Looks like you will have to buy a personal car cleaner along with the car to keep shine on the piano blacks and the chrome elements 😂😂 Amazing work Paul and Team , keep those reviews flowing .... Regarding the car , they focused on engineering and ride comfort ... Looks wise these cars look meh ... Nothing striking about them except for their size .

Yeah, the out of focus HUD, no wireless mirroring/crap screen integration does not represent 300,000 dollar quality.

Most HUDs are out of focus if they reflect off the windscreen as the windscreen is made of two sheets of glass laminated so you get double reflections. Without special and carefully designed engineering you can’t have it clear - certainly not from all angles unless it adjusts as you move your head position. This is why some manufacturers use pop up ones.

The reason they do not replace the Mercedes badge with Maybach is because Maybach is no longer considered as brand and it has merged in to a range of products within Mercedes.

I like super luxury opulent cars like this but I can't shake the feeling that they are just a huge con. Sure, you get a nice car but rich people are charged stupid amounts of money for paint, interior trim and other options which are just staggeringly overpriced. You're probably thinking "yeah who cares, they can afford it" yeah sure they can but if I was in the market for a luxury car, I wouldn't want to be completely ripped off. Plus, they depreciate so quickly in value and there's always a new model around the corner which they're going to buy straight away. They're taken for mugs. Not that I care, I just want to make the point as a guy who will never be able to afford this.

That paint has an awful lot of orange peel! Also that 'chrome' is not chrome at all. It is chrome tape/transfer over plastic. Our GLS 500 was less than two years old when the fake chrome garnish around the tailpipes started peeling off.

Huge grill and a lot of chrome looks very outdated, yuck. Skinny and inbuilt indicators should be illegal, I know it's the trend but they're hard to see especially in direct sunlight.

Surprised at how ugly they made the exterior. I would just get the non-Maybach version as th standard car looks great. This looks like an aftermarket "pimp my ride" offering. Not elegant or attractive. Having lots of money doesn't mean you have taste and Maybach is counting on it

I really don't get this car... like why? maybe it's just my perspective... but it's really a passenger kinda car... it's not really family car... you don't really want kids with all those buttons... the car is not really great to drive... in my opinion it's a car best as a passenger... but it's so tight at the back... why don't people just get those luxury converted sprinters... probably cheaper but much more comfortable.

Hmmmm.. dunno. Reminds me of a cashed up bogan lotto winner that wears too much jewellery all at once. Like there's no getting away from the fact it's an SUV and they just simply are pleb mobiles with more or less bling. China will adore this thing. Watch it depreciate almost as fast as Dan Andrews reputation.
