Nissan deserves a lot of credit for persevering in the full-size truck market. Their truck is on a par of features and performance with Ford, GM, and Ram. I love the 5.6L V8. 400 HP, 413 lb*ft of torque makes it competitive with any V8 out there. It's too bad that the 5.0L V8 Cummins diesel didn't catch on.
@phprofYT
@phprofYT 2 жыл бұрын
The V8 Cummins was not a good motor. Many issues which you can discover on the forums. Nissan and Cummins support is dying fast. For the engine weight, it was under-powered and a fuel guzzler. The I6 6.7L beats it in all categories including fuel efficiency.

How about a real mid-size tow challenge with the Ranger, Taco, Colorado, and Ridgeline. It would be a fun comparison with the new Frontier.

The Ridgeline does not tow well IMO. I had a 2019 AWD. 3000 pounds is all I felt it could comfortably tow. The transmission temps would climb alarmingly high when towing 3000 pounds and it would shift quite a bit.

If I was in the market for a mid-size, I think the frontier would be my pick. v6, no turbos and 9speed. Not a fan of the turbo engines and the Tacoma seems underwhelming.

really it is a good truck, and you probably would want it over the Tacoma for a bit of more power, and it is not a bad truck at reliability, however, if you are the type of person that would want to keep that particular truck forever, go Toyota, it is by far the best at reliability, and it is approximately the same base price, but the Nissans are not that bad, so it is really up to you to decide

The torture test I used to see for the titans really caught my attention. They would purposely drive it at an angle and even directly into a curb. You would see the truck bounce and jolt but still drive away.I’m sure folks figured we can make a vehicle extremely strong but the squishies inside are the limit.I have a friend who always raves about Rams safety ratings which for me if your not an idiot and don’t abuse your things everything should last. I’ve heard of rams steering being car like which I think should be really popular with all the old ladies. . . . Hahah no but I imagine it is easier and smoother but a little more delicate. The truck also doesn’t have the auto start stop function which I like.

@@occckid123 you are correct however these trucks are not built for 0-60. for example the duramax L5P 6 speeds are faster 0-60 than the L5P 10spds because less gears to run through, however the 10 speed is smoother, better for towing, more efficient, lower under drive and higher overdrive. Race a 10spd vs a 6spd from 60-100 with a trailer, the 10 speed will win every time. They are built for a purpose and 0-60 isn’t one of them.

I've had my 2022 pro 4x in tactical green for just over two months now. It's been dead reliable and Nissan seems to have amazing build quality. I am stepping up from a 2018 civic hatch so I was obviously expecting an increase in my spending on gas, but I've gotta say the Frontier has impressed me with its fuel economy. The best I've had it, while driving is 8.4 L/100km, and after a trip is 9.0 L/100km. I have also been able to get a projected fuel range of up to 760km from a tank. First of I like all your test videos, real world testing, not just some dude in shorts driving around the block and giving it a doug score. I bought the Frontier SV model with the convenience/tow package and wonder why Nissan didn’t include a brake controller either. I will have to buy a Prodigy brake controller since I plan on pulling a 3500 lb camper with it. I previously owned a ‘09 Frontier since new and have no doubt I will keep my ‘22 for 10 years or more as well. I like the comfortable seats, the handling and ride and the heated seats and steering wheel. The thing I don’t like is Nissan deleted the cargo channels on the bottom of the bed, I used them all the time to strap down lumber to. No other manufacturer had these as far as I know. Also the control switches on the lower left side are too far down to see, if Nissan raised the display panel about 2 inches they could relocate the switches below the panel. It would be an even better truck!

I know it'd be a lot if extra work but I'd love to see an extra run up and down the mountain the way most of us watching would really drive. Mainly by shifting gears manually up and down. It'd slow what the truck is truly capable of rather than what it's programmed to do. Most viewers here are smart enough to know the difference and it wouldn't confuse us. If anything it'd help us by showing proper towing tips rather than just hoping the manufacturer did it right. Add it in to the Super Ike maybe if not all test.

Dodge, we need a Dakota with a V8 again. I have an 02 with the 5.9, just waiting for them come out with a new one! That gladiator is selling really well, that platform would suit the Dakotas return. 👀

As a 2011 Frontier Pro4x owner in CO, I really wish Nissan had a factory tow pkg option with a brake controller. Even at a premium, I would rather have that installed and warranty then have U-Haul do it. And they are the other 3rd-party I could find.

This new frontier is a game changer. Always the cheaper choice in the midsize market but great value. Now up there in performance and looks as well. Maybe eat up more tacoma market. Absolutely more reliable than the GM and Ford competitors. Gladiator is a niche truck style. So it’s basically the frontier vs the Tacoma in the consumers eyes if looking for this midsize truck in USA 2022

I traded my 19 ranger for a 2022 pathfinder. Get the frontier. The v6 and the tech and looks alone are better than the ranger. The current ranger just felt so cheap to me. I’m loving my pathfinder and I loved the ranger, but I would go with the frontier. Unless like you said your wanna see the new ranger will look like

Was looking forward to this. Sadly the sound test was not as I expected after the last test you had with the sound. It was very quiet! But it´s a nice roar. You should´ve tested it without full throttle like you did with the Titan. Too bad there was never a test with the updated NV.
@billywill903
@billywill903 2 жыл бұрын
You do realize it was going uphill, at altitude, pulling max load. 99.99% of the time you will never see those conditions. Basing the sound level of the truck under those conditions vs daily driving is unrealistic.

@@billywill903 I know of course that this is a difference. Logical. Still did expect a lower number. And the updated D40 was quieter in the test years ago.

Owned a 19 Tacoma. It was a good truck but a rough ride. It was like drving a brick. Upgraded too the 22 frontier pro4x about 4 months ago. Love it. It rides better. Tech is way better. Haven't towed with it yet (hitch was on backorder, just got it) but I feel it'll do alright considering what I tow. It gets better mileage too.

The biggest problem Nissan has isn’t its style at least on the frontier that is or its reputation, it’s the marketing. There simply isn’t any. As a result, there is no mindset in the consumer as to what the frontier represents. It is by far a much more superior truck, than the Tacoma. And now that the Tacoma has given up the V6 and gone with much more complicated, twin, turbo four-cylinder, the Nissan frontier has a golden opportunity in terms of marketing with it normally aspirated V6. The advertisement opportunities are endless and priceless. I hope Nissan does something with this.

As a loyal Ford owner, I am now looking at the Frontier for a daily driver. The prices of half tons are insane and my brother just purchased a Pro4X Frontier and loves it. I keep my stuff a very long time and am going to start test driving the Frontier SV. The value is insane and would tie me over for nearly a decade until I needed to upgrade back to a 1/2 ton for towing, family etc. Your insight is spot on. I will never sell my old F-150 which is heavily modded or my equally old Mustang, but it's time for a new daily driver that's not 20 years old lol. Utilitarian, basic NA V6, reasonable mpg and seems solidly built. The marketing just sucks. But that's good for pricing. Sub 40k for a 2wd SV Crew Cab long bed. That's fantastic when a base F-150 Supercrew STX 2wd 5.0 is literally $50k+ and doesn't even include a power seat....

After 7 new Dodge/Rams since 2007, 4 of them 2500 4x4/Cummins I traded my 2018 2500/Cummins for a Tactical green 4x4 SV with convience and tech group. I have 2750 miles on my new Datsun and it is in the shop with issues. The cloth on the front seat has separated from the seat bottom. The rep looked at it on 01/12/22 and approved a new seat.The seat has a slight rock from the play in the electric adjuster linkage. The transmission has surging issues ever since they idled it up to eliminate the rattle/harmonic vibtration in the sheet metal on the engine with 300 miles on it and something is not jiving, Idon't know maybe it is the throttle body thing communicating with the transmission that it is time to go and it means quick.And that is when a Tervis tumbler of water or whatever it has in it pours all over your center console. The dealer has had me in a rental Rouge since the rep looked at my truck and a rep from the factory has called me on 01/13 and on 01/14. As far as design flawsgo the center console has about as much use as a bread box turned on end , the cup holders will not hold anything unless it is 3 3/8 in diameter and straight sided. The bluetooth dies when you parlk and kill the ignition. If you are on an important phone call and need to finish before switching to your handset, which is not seamless at all then you must finish with the engine running. Nissan took until 2022 to invent the gas powered cell phone, I am sure the Climate Change crowd is going to love that one. The popups that remind you to increase the volume on your connected device and the one that reminds you that"your call history has been updated" are so old at 2700 miles I can't even imagine keeping this truck for that reason alone.They hang on screen for 4 to 5 seconds. I didn't enter into my blue tooth to read, I did it to make a call. Why don't any of you reviewers point out these real world consumer tips. Their is a lot to love about this truck but if you are a dyed in the wool truck buyer like me then these are far more important than the remodel they put on the gen II. I bought this as my retirement vehicle as I am 62yo and chose this truck based on my families good history with the brand. This is my first new Nissan and my first small truck in 45 years.

I can understand docking points for the safety chain hook being so hard to get to. I can also understand docking for not having a brake controller. But I don't agree with docking cause it didn't grow. It's supposed to be midsize,not full sized.
