Cocked 1200Klm on my 2022 Royal Enfield Classic 350 and today I thought I would take it out on a high-way test ride and see if it can cruise and hold speed at a steady 100Kph/60 Mph.

I may have to consider one of these in the future. My 2000 Speed Triple is in the shop, has been for 9 months. No engine gasket kits are available and it is unknown when they will come available. Out of frustration I looked for a short term replacement bike, $4,000 was my max limit, and I ended up with a very nice well cared for 1996 BMW R850R. It's a bit bigger (Full sized bike here) than what I was looking for, but I never had a BMW anything and this is the cheapest way to get into one... Just got it yesterday. This Enfield reminds me of the 1971 CL350 Honda Scrambler I had years ago. It was slow, but I think I rode it more than the Daytona T595 I had at the time because you could go at a leisurely pace.. where as the Daytona wanted to go quickly at all times. If I can be convinced RE Quality is up to snuff I may spring for one in the near future.

@@ridewithwarro It is wonderful to hear that you are pleased and ready to get a second one. That says a lot. I will keep watching with interest and see about getting one in the future if I decide I don't want to continue on with the R850R I just got.

My wife owns a Meteor and I just ordered a Classic. That engine is fantastic if you feel like enjoying Motorcycling. Good enough. Maybe 5 or 10 extra HP would not harm, but still I do not need them as most of my trips I avoid motorways even with my previous ride that was a Triumph Street Twin.

Here in Tx too. Im 64 next month. Sold my '11 Suzuki VStrom DL650 last year. It had side/top cases,bags, upgrades windscreen, seat, shock. It came that way from fella i bought it from 3 yrs ago. I only put 350 miles, in 3 yrs. Never more than a 1 hours ride. No touring or adv riding. I liked the size of the Wee. But I know now how i plan to ride. Just 1-2 hour jaunts on the backroads near me at 60mph tops if that. Looking for a 300-500cc bikes for that now. Ride On Warro!

Hi Warro. I've watched all your vids concerning the new R.E classic. Every time I had a question you had the answer What's it like at 100k, now I now. Only good Bullet is 2017 up were the the best & in future be more sought after too than the older hit & miss models.If you really want a 500 this is the time to get one.Still a few brand new 2021 models in NZ & alot of secondhand low km 2017-2020 models.The last 4 yrs of build quality improved so much & reliability wasn't hit & mis like with older models.In my local R.E dealership there was one 120yr Anniversary Stealth Black 500 Classic for sale when I bought my Interceptor.If I could have afforded it I would of bought it too.As soon as you rode out of shop it will increase in value & was actually surprised dealership owner didn't keep it for himself.Only 200 off world wide were built & was lucky to see one up close, beautiful bike.Be a investment bike so run it in ride a short distance every 3weeks to keep it fresh.A ltd edition Anniversary Stealth Black bike in 5-7yrs with 5000km be worth double what you paid for it.Keep km low & paint pristine in atmosphere tent the value will increase.

I am only comfortable cruising at 80-90kms on my classic 500 ... hate cruising at 100-110. It just seems like its pushing it too hard... then again i have a shorty sports exhaust on mine and its loud as F.. at 100+kmph especially going up hills. Cant imagin what its like with a 350. These bikes sure arent made for high speed long hauls. In my opinion. But yeah travel the world at 80-90 kmph
@ridewithwarro
@ridewithwarro 2 жыл бұрын
all i can say is they have improved these new 350 versions. not perfect but big improvement. its not real comfortable cruising at 80 kph and had a slight vibe -just slight but was very comfortable at 90 kph. what i failed to mention on the clip was i thought it was slower on this run. i put it on 100 kph a day earlier and it was running on 1/3 throttle and quicker. later on the return home it dawned on me. i had fitted the right rear pannier and was getting wind dragg. i pulled the pannier today and plan to run that same stretch again and i bet less wind dragg and its faster and less throttle too. i might re-do the clip and show the bike with pannier fitted. i took a photo but never used it

100Kph is a nice speed to ride a motorcycle along a deserted back-road. Unfortunately, where I live you had better be able to hold 120-130Kph on the freeway for miles on end to get to those nice riding roads or you will become some pickup truck's or SUV's hood ornament. BTW, I have found that a small neck-high windshield will increase the efficiency of my electric motorcycle by as much as 10%.

Thanks - I just saw one of these in the grey "military" guise here in my apartment complex.... kinda cool - looks a bit small as I am used to a Yamaha Bolt - which is not large but it's quite a bit bigger than the Enfield. I was just curious how a 350 single cylinder would do on the highway - here it would be more like 120 Kph for cruising - my Bolt is fine at 75 but a little vibraty... of course mine is a V-twin 950 cc - so different animal. anyway, enjoyed the quick review.

yeah i dont think its for you. your right at max speed at 120 kph and using full throttle to0 just to hold pace. 100 kph is very easy to do but say 120 - i think the bike would be running out of luck and on borrowed time as a second choice ride or a 100 kph runner. its very good set of wheels in this area.

I’ve got a classic 500. I initially dismissed the 350, but I suppose change in circumstance means I get even less time to go for leisure rides now and realistically most of my riding is commuting and punting under 110 km/h. So now I’m thinking about chassis design and engine smoothness and perhaps the 350 is looking more attractive. The 500 is great to about 105 but then it starts to feel a little sketchy, in your experience is the new 350 a better frame?
@ridewithwarro
@ridewithwarro 7 ай бұрын
lets say after owning 15 new enfield the 350 is easily the better bike in all areas. not as fast but better. now if you want something pretty close in performance to 100 kph the new hunter does just that only real issue ..pretty hard ride and slightly foreward riding position with a slight bit of vibe thrown in. more like a tremor compared to an earthquake on a 500

@ridewithwarro 2 жыл бұрын
all i can say if 5th is an overdrive how come i can power along on good flat ground at 100 kph. i just come back from a 2 hour ride and a couple of time on a couple of straight i tried to get 6th gear lol maybe if one came of a litre bike it may feel like 4th is the speed urchin but it runs alright in 5th for me with 5000 combined klm on both bikes. i can pull from 100 kph to 110 very easy- i cant see how i'd class it as an overdrive either way when it comes to the crunch you get to a good hill-20 hp is NOT enough...lol and it won't matter if your in 4th or not -you'll still be dropping gears...lol

Thanks Warro. I realise the speed limit is strictly policed in Australia and doing 101kph on a 100kph zone could land you a ticket. Just curious, was that you keeping the Classic 350 at that speed (seeing as you mentioned you’re only half throttle), or is that the bike’s electronic speed limiter programming that’s keeping it there? Cheers.

@@stefanhansen5882 well i still had plenty in reserve and ive had it running at speedo indicated 110kph but i think 90/100 kph is more acceptable for this 350cc motor. i feel just because it can do it i also say...for just how long. the other option for you could be the new 2022 honda cb500x-ive had 4 of those. i'd say it would cruise easy at 130/140 kph so that may be an option and its not all that much more expensive. hope that helps

a quick burst never worries them and ive done 1200 klm. i use to put the 500's on 100 kph at exactly 100 klm on the clock. just to see how strong the motor was. the real damage is done holding speed early in the first few hundred klm and over heating the motor. a 5th gear roll on throttle to 100 kph is no-where near as bad if at all as some-one out there buying a new bike and pulling the guts out of it at low speed like 5th gear - just to hear the exhaust note. that trip will make the bearings sing a bad tune...lol

so far i am finding it issue free apart from a wonky speedo reading. appears to be a know fault on this new bike as plenty recorded. back to your 85 mile commute. that would depend on if its more flat running as hills will be an issue. you'll get overthem but if you want to maintain speed -you'll be working the bike harder and dropping gears. what other bikes did you have in mind or is this it?

@@ridewithwarro I really like the old bullets, and single cylinder motors in general. So the classic 350 really appeals to me, but it has to perform well enough for my commute. It's mostly flat, but I live at 7000' above sea level so performance will be affected. If the classic doesn't work, then I will probably go with the Interceptor 650, it has a nice neutral riding position and sounds good for a twin, the economy is not as good however.
