*Great frame and lightweight. **Latest.Bike** components were well adjusted out of the box. Great entry level bike for light off road use.*

I just bought one few weeks ago and boy it is the best bike I've ridden so far! Best climber and going down it is very playful compare to a 29ner of course. You can never go wrong with a Bronson!

When you get one to test, how about mulleting a V3 Bronson (you did before) and do a back to back comparison? That would be an interesting video.

Mullet seems strange and harder to upgrade/repair. The frames have gotten so large they look like ebikes! That color is super awesome, glad you pointed out the metallic flake because it doesn’t show up well in pictures or on video.

This color looks way better in person, but feels like it will scratch easily. My advice to anyone buying this bike is to get it wrapped immediately.

Love the color, seems like a fad such as plus tires that will fade in time. Strange they would do this to one of their most popular bikes. Uber expensive as well likely due to covid and also because it’s a Santa Cruz.
@jctrails3 жыл бұрын
I’m wondering the same thing. I actually like riding plus tires but only on a hard tail.

That gold color is so sexy! The new prices are insane.
@jctrails3 жыл бұрын
It seems like a lot of bike brands are tagging an extra $1000 to the price tag. The delay in production and shipping of parts and frames I believe is the reason why we are paying more.

@prr6653 жыл бұрын
That looks very nice. However, if you want a mullet bike, I wouldn't buy this one. Why not? You would be better off buying a bike that is 29"/27.5+ compatible, like the Pivot Switchblade. With a bike like the Switchblade, you could run it 3 ways: 1. 29er 2. 27.5+ 3. mullet with a rear 27.5+ wheel. I think running a rear 27.5+ wheel beats running a regular rear 27.5 wheel on a mullet bike. More options = more versatility and fun!

My thoughts on the Bronson MX- Personally I’m keeping an open mind til I ride one. I mean it’s not like larger front wheel and smaller back wheel is a new idea- been that way in moto for years and bmx bikes back in the 80s (first I remember seeing it on was a Mongoose Californian) had a skinnier (and thus smaller diameter also) rear tire. Also, everybody keeps forgetting about tire width, because with increased width comes a larger diameter. I’ll put link below, but when I measured a DHF 27.5 x 2.6 vs a DHF 29 x 2.3 there was only a 1/2 inch difference in diameter. So that means a 1/4 inch in radius. Now I can’t do the math to tell you what difference that makes in the rollover angle of the tire, but I’ll bet it’s not much. So you can also get an increase in both grip (due to the larger contact patch due to larger trail of a 29er or larger contact patch due to wider tire of a 2.6) and rollover (due to better rollover angle of both), the two legit benefits of a 29er up front, by going 27.5 x 2.6 up front. Now I know the Bronson MX is running 29 x 2.5 up front so there will be a bit more of a difference compared to a 2.3, but I think my point stands. 29er up front is not the only way to increase grip and rollover. Re the fact that when people have mulletted 27.5 bikes they universally are worse on climbs- I wonder if this will be fixed on the Bronson MX as it will be designed with geo meant for a 29er up front. Problem when you mullet a 27.5 is you slacken the entire frame, STA included. They can fix that wjen the frame is designed for a 29er up front. One thing I am especially curious about is if the new geo for a mullet will diminish the playfullness of the Bronson in favor of poughfulness (not sure that’s a word but whatever). Since I did my measurements on wheelsizes and realized that my 27.5 x 2.6s were not a lot less than 29 x 2.3, I have been trying to figure out how that compares to what I feel on the trail. What it did validate was that I didn’t notice much difference in rollover between a 29 x 2.3 bike with similar geo to my Bronson with 27.5 x 2.6, whereas there was a discernible difference when going between a 27.5 x 2.3 and 29 x 2.3, which now made sense given the measurements. But what I was still trying to find the answer to was why my 27.5 x 2.6 felt so much more poppy and playful than a 29er (again with similar geo) if the wheelsize wasn’t that much different? And what I have comes to suspect might be the culprit more than wheelsize is the bb drop. The bb drop on my Bronson for example is 14 mm in low. On the Hightower it’s 33 mm in low. That’s a big difference. In addition to explaining the “in the bike” vs the “on the bike” difference in feel between a 29 and 27.5 respectively, it might also explain the poppiness difference. On 29ers I feel like the amount of effort to get the bike to begin its initial movement upward in, say a bunnyhop, is much greater and seems to take longer, whereas on a 27.5 I feel like it pops up right away with less effort. Which seems to make sense if you having less of the bike to move through. So that brings me back to the Bronson MX- the bb drop is 32 mm front, 13 mm rear in low. So I wonder if that is going to make it feel weird getting it off the ground- will the front end seem difficult to lift, will it seem to lift unevenly with the back wanting to pop higher or easier which could be a real issue for jumps where many of us already get bucked by the backend because we overcompress the rear shock? These are just questions and things on my mind, which is why I’m keeping an open mind until I ride it. What I love about my V3 is, for me, sized up to an XL (I’m a tad over 5’10”) with 2.6s it is the perfect combo of stability and rollover at speed (ploughability) with playfulness and poppiness of a bmx. Will the new mixed wheel setup push it more in one direction or another? Or will it retain its personality? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gK2Ch86KmZ_NnYU.html

DAD all good info. This Bronson had a 2.4 tire on the back, so the difference in tire diameter is noticeable. Your description of the V3 Bronson is spot on and I’m hoping the V4 retains some the characteristics from the previous bike. Hopefully I will find out soon.
