I like the way this reel looks. The top profile reminds me a lot of the 2016 Metanium MGL. I’m most excited for the new Bantam this year, I keep growing to love my old one more and more each time I use it. It is fantastic on a Destroyer Madbull throwing all sorts of moving baits

I love the reel as well so much that I made a great comment about how would I love to win the reel. This guy, the reel test guy replied to me saying I won the reel but had to pay for shipping and handling, the thing is he ended up scamming me for over $200. I really respected the owner of this Reel Test account but after what he did to me I have nothing but anger and disappointment for this guy. He scammed me big time.

Awesome reel and great video! I switched all my reels over to lefty pretty much now aside from two. Makes casting and fishing a lot more enjoyable and not getting tired or anything.

Awesome content as always and I like everything about this reel. Shimano always been my go to for reels. Have not dip into BFS but might have to try it out with this one.

Love the 360 on the beginning of the video ! The quality of the video is prime ! the silent tune spring loaded is heavier , the color looks like the new bantam rod, love the idea of mgl3 spool , the weight surprised me my call was 7.3 g between you and me the mgl spool is the best ! hope the break is strong enough!

Congratulations for a very well put together review! Shimano went for performance on this model in my opinion. I have yet to test it out but looking forward to your in depth analysis when you receive the RH model. 👍

Liked. The 2016 is incredible, to have been a top dog for six years. Now there's a new sheriff in town. I am a leftover only, and would loved to have one. Regardless, I commend you for having the right perspective on what is foremost at the beginning if every video. Keep it up!

I really like this reel including the brakes 🤣, I was really shocked as the spool is that light even though there's not a lot of holes on it ! I also like the high profile too, it just palms more better

Amazing looking reel. I fish with left handed reels only, but i grew up with spinning gear and feels wierd to reel with my right hand. Never really cared about drag star appearance, until today. Wow. The side view of the alderberan, looks like a fish with the brake dial as the eye

I can’t believe I waited until December last year to buy myself a 16 Aldebaran because I thought a new model was coming out. Then they announce this a month later. I hope it delivers on everything it promises, just wish I’d waited a little longer 😂

Agreed. Looks like the old Model is much2 more prettier and palm friendly. Shimano really can save more weight by reducing the star drag point from 6 to 5, because its easier to remove the spool tension cap on 5 point stardrag that way. Left handle user right here. i hope that i am the lucky one

Well done review! I agree with the brake dial issue. The Chronarch has a similar location and is tucked away yet easy to turn. Cheap looking thumb bar. Might keep the older generation.

I do wish the brake dial was recessed some and chrome. Also wanted the color to match my 2018 MGL. Regardless I can't wait to receive mine.

I get your pain with handle side. Got my self a right handle 15 Aldebaran, for like a hundred bucks, but I use left handed reels usually. Feels super weird and uncomfortable to palm. P. S. New Aldebaran color is just sick! Love that blueish tone!

So I am right handed. Fairly ambidextrous and always wanted to try a left handed setup. I crank my spinning reel with my left handed. Also I like that you post scripture up at the front of your videos. Thank you.

Being a right handed it is actually easier to go baitcasting the same way with left handle as in spinning but in USA pros mostly prefer to go with right handle. It is a personal choice but being a saltwater angler and I do lots of movement with the rod I need to hold my rod with right hand just like spinning It feels more convenient actually because I can’t do jerking or vertical jigging with my weaker arm. And left hand reels seem to be on sale quite often I can’t complain

Well Im not giving the reel away because I didnt get the required likes in the allotted time, but if you are trying to decide between the Aldebaran vs a Daiwa bfs, the Aldebaran is better than any Daiwa BFS reel

Been tempted to get into BFS fishing ever since I started watching your videos. So far this is looking like a dream of a reel. I'll have to give shimano a try as my past baitcasters have been daiwas. Looking forward to the casting video for this reel. As a right-handed person I prefer to use left handed baitcaster reels. Less changing of hands. Sometimes its hard to find left hand reels in stores. I have a friend who feels the same. Thanks for the videos I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and sharing the biblical verses on each of them.

If you are going to get into BFS with a JDM model, Shimanos definitely sell faster and have better resale value in case you tried BFS and didnt like it

FYI That is a right handed reel. You cast with your dominant hand and reel with the other.

It certainly looks like a metanium. As for performance, I think it will suffer at longer distances with the smaller spool, much like the alphas. Trout magnets and the like should be a breeze. I prefer left retrieve on my reels, unless it’s for bigger fish like an ahi. Something must be wrong with my brain. Lol

Great Video but not sure if this is a great reel..lol I've been on the fence but considering the color and the crazy brake dial sticking out I think I'm passing on this reel for now.. My new favorite Shimano is actually the Curado bfs.. sold my 16 Aldebaran bfs and selling the conquest bfs to my buddy Charles..

Yeah still on the fence.. appears to be an ugly duckling with swan like performance.. everyone I've seen talking about it says it's the best they've used for the lightest stuff out of the box
