Hey the back rattling can be coming from your rear window brake light, I just stuffed some clothing underneath mine (from the hole underneath it in the trunk) to raise it up to the plastic doesnt rattle anymore. Nice video!

Persons are getting between 315 and 340 whp on straight 93 with a protune on the VB chassis, very curious to see what you will get with the JB4 on 93 octane

I envy you for the S209. You are one of the lucky ones that was able to get one plus the money “of course” I was dying to get me one but, man! Over 60K by that time. Still I was willing to pay for it. I never could get me one.

Hmm I’ve never ran Borla. My go to is usually ETS or Invidia but I’m sure Borla makes a good product. Doesn’t surprise me it’s not cheap

@@hahaadventures4838 my '22 WRX is my 1st Subaru. I put the ETS axle back with mufflers on it and it's perfect for me. At first I noticed a little drone. I found that the trunk area and under the rear window tray is very tinny. Especially the empty spare tire well- it's like a drum. I rolled in as much self-adhesive sound deadener (like Dynamat) as I could back there and I don't hear any drone and the car sounds more solid overall. Good luck.

I can see the hesitation regarding drone especially if you’re used to older subies with unequal length headers. My 08 and 09 STI used to drone like crazy but it was straight piped sooooo

You can gain back some of the lost fuel economy of E85 with tuning for increased volumetric efficiency (i.e. higher boost, running lean, adjusted timing) because of the high octane.

@@WIDEBODYNATION forgot to point out that the implied point is that such can only be achieved with a turbo, because otherwise effective compression is not tunable in an engine (other than novel variable compression engine designs). Also I bet Subaru stock tuned for minimum emissions not best fuel economy. Subaru is really struggling with (let's go Brandon) and the berserk EPA which is why they are phasing out their ICEVs. Western civilization will be no more because of this inane scapegoating of our debt collapse on the climate. This is the last non-hybrid WRX we will get, as Brandon’s EPA has forced Subaru to abandon the ICEV by 2028. But the West will be collapsing into an unimaginable horror worse than your imagination, so end of ICEVs will be the least of our egregious problems. Episode 60 of Tucker Carlson with liberal, biologist Brett Weinstein. Plandemic treaty to be signed in 2024 abrogating our 1st amendment to global diktats. This is the end. We will pay carbon taxes. I have a 2017 sti n its the best steering i ever felt. But the sti is hydraulic steering. So id suggest look up hydraulic vs electric steering pros n cons. Then male your decision on which u like more. Bc in todays age almost anything is as good as the other your rlly looking for wat u would like more while driving. I like hydraulic but I heard electric is very smooth n easy

we took our 23 WRX that has $5k in coilovers, bushings, sways, wheels, 200tw tires, and compared to my husband's STI back to back at the track, the WRX handling was way behind. At the Willow track event was a Subaru engineer who let us know the new WRX uses the SUV global platform open front and rear diff with electronic brake vectoring, where as the STI handles better because it has actual front LSD, center DCCD diff, and rear LSD.

@@panderalexander indeed the STi was a capable rally car with a rally capable AWD, but it is not going to be as pleasant for a daily driver and will wear you on long trips or stuck in stop-and-go traffic.

The VA 2.0 is slow as shit compared to the linear power of the VB 😂 I know I traded in my 2016 wrx for my 22 wrx and the 22 is much faster.

@@johnb382syeah but you can't do EGR/TGV deletes, a bunch of other stuff the EPA banned that most major tuning platforms are abiding by...I haven't had a VB even get within like 8 car lengths of me...I run E50 to E75, around 380 to 410whp on a mustang dyno

@@br8y693 you are 100% right, put a good driver in vb and bad driver in va and it will easy beat it on race track even though va has better equipment. i enjoy my vb i found out though it has open diffs front and rear, i thought it would be like va sti with front lsd and the center dccd and the rear lsd but it not. but i will learn in my vb still because of proof from initial d. in that is good driver takumi with ae86 with lsd just like sti and his friend itsuki buy ae85 which is like wrx without lsd. but guess what, you put the good driver takumi in the ae85 and he still beat a car, silvia, in a race. that show me it is more about driver and if i get good will easily beat sti, evo, gr corolla, gtr.

They’re very dumb for the WRX because they’re a 200 treadwear summer/competition tire for a car most people will daily year round. Subaru Should’ve put Michelin Pilot sport all seasons or conti Dw06s on instead. That would’ve satisfied 90+% of customers rather than the 5% of people who like the niche Dunlop’s….

Hey bro, I know this is an old video, but is that normal for you to just put it in neutral and roll in neutral while driving? I've never seen anybody do that before, and I don't know why anybody would do it. You speed up, put in the throttle while accelerating then go to change gear but instead of changing gear up, you put it into neutral and just roll.

That is probably how he learned. I know a few folks who do it, too. It’s not harmful if you rev-match the gear you go in after coasting. It’s also weird to me, but I know it’s not uncommon.

I do it, but mainly because either I was going to shift up, but the car in front of me slowed down unexpectedly, or if I'm coming to a stop, just throw it in nuteral instead of down shifting over and over

If you want attention from the cops, get an orange vb. For the tail lights, so many manufacturers have made tail lights that look similar to another car (ie: gtr-corvette), when you want to change the design of such a small piece there’s only so much that can be done. Most of the hate comes from the scared ej boys anyway, they know they’ll be seeing a lot of the vb tails

Don’t regret it man the Vb is a soild car! U can definitely make the car look nice if u do even simple color matching . I looked at the Vb when looking around but wasn’t a fan just because out the box they didn’t feel like how a WRx is supposed to feel so I went for the 21 Sti . But I know the motors have good tuning potential even better then the EJ but the transmission aren’t meant for power that’s the problem. The sti transmission are bulletproof. But ay man enjoy ur Vb dude those cars have a ton of potential

Depends on the climate in my opinion. Here in TN, snow tires aren’t necessary so I’d run a good all season and a good track/summer tire when able

Fresh all seasons do decent in snow, but youre right that snow tires or 3 peak snowflake rated off road tires are noticable better and safer in the snow. Just dont have much use-case if it only snows once or twice a year

I wouldn't want to push more power on VB. Chassis is riding on the old wrx Swiss cheese transmission. You're doing Russian roulette at that point.

@WIDEBODY NATION I will tell you this, japanese VB wrx comes in cvt only. USASubaru had to retrofit the old wrx trans in, they don't have the budget or time to develop a dedicated tranny for VB chassis

@@VinRZ the VB has a revised gearset that was developed especially for the car, it was not simply a transplant from the VA wrx 6 speed, also, they are WAY more durable than the old cable shifted 5 speeds. my 21 wrx makes 380 wheel and the transmission is holding it fine, dont drive it like an idiot and you wont have a problem.

we took our 23 WRX that has $5k in coilovers, bushings, sways, wheels, 200tw tires, and compared to my husband's STI back to back at the track, the WRX handling was way behind. At the Willow track event was a Subaru engineer who let us know the new WRX uses the SUV global platform open front and rear diff with electronic brake vectoring, where as the STI handles better because it has actual front LSD, center DCCD diff, and rear LSD.

@@WIDEBODYNATION i was taught by a racing instructor that its better to keep it in gear so you have absolute control over the vehicle. I understand that when you lift there is engine braking. My work around so that it doesn't affect your speed too much when its still far away is just have it in a gear higher then coast in that gear. So in effect, you will have "braked" a little without having to add wear to your brakes. Also, as a bonus, if you haven't come to a full stop or slow enough to need a downshift, you just press the gas pedal and off you go.

Yea I know what u mean, I only ever put in neutral when I’m about to stop. I don’t like feeling I’ve lost acceleration and engine braking control & feels all loosey goosey lol

This guy doesn’t know how to drive manual, which is like 75% of wrx owners, you’ll get real manual drivers more in mustang 5.0’s, i mean manual cars have been around since 1960, the fundamentals were sent to sh*t when the 6 speeds started coming around and engine braking is bring forgotten about due to lazy drivers

@@RomansFree I don't have a mustang yet I can drive a manual well. I don't think the car has anything to do with it. Its simply a matter of exposure to manual transmissions which if the rumors are true, very rare in the U.S

You did not give us any insight into the differences in the AWD system and the limited slip differentials versus the active brake vectoring with open diffs. Is that not important? Why have an STi at all if it is not important? Also is the tiresome aspect of driving the STi in town (and stop-and-go traffic) more a function of the mods you did to it or is the stock clutch also tiresome? Essentially why did you move-on from your STi? Did you overdo the mods and make it unsuitable/impractical as a daily?

@@juanticimoleas than 1% of new VB owners have swapped probably because we of costs, buying a WRX is good value for the money already, but swapping a STI tranny most people who would afford doing that just end up buying GR Corolla or Civic Type R.

If you’re talking about a stock EJ, perhaps. A well build EJ257 with the propper supporting mods and maintenance is solid

Not true , obviously u if ur gonna buy an ej always do ur research on the previous owners , I’ve had two so far had a 09 hatch WRx and recently got a 21 sti both are great cars , maintenance is key . I agree they are sensitive cars but I disagree with u that even if u take care of the car it’s not a good engine which is false . Terrible owners are the problem . Had my wrx hatch till 110k miles not one problem other then keeping up with normal maintenance. It’s simple .
