2022 Summer vacation at Barcelo resort, Riviera Maya, Mexico

We stayed in Barcelo resort (Maya Colonial) for 10 days in the summer of 2022 in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
We loved the resort, it's a mega-resort with 6 resorts connected together, and you can walk or take a double-decker bus to other resorts easily. Actually, we had a lot of fun doing that. There was a small adventure park, we did zip lining, bungee swinging, and go-karting.
The beach was very beautiful, it was long, wide and white and soft sand. There's a lot of fish at the beach and the pools were amazing and there were also swim-up bars so you can really relax when you stay at the pool because the pool was very calm and it is very big and beautiful. Overall, we really enjoyed staying at Barcelo.

Hi! Me and my wife was there 16 years ago! So now we want to return with the kids for next July. We afraid sargasse(seaweed), maybe a lot this year! Question, your vacation summer 2022, which months please? In your video, the beach was clean, no sargasse!!!🙂 Thank you!

Hi, we were there on July 14 - 24, there was only very little seaweed in some area, I think the boat rental area has more seaweed, and depends on the weather, but in general, the beach was very clean, especially in the area less rocks and good for swimming. we were worried about the seaweed before our vacation, but after we came back, we never talked about the seaweek, because there were very few and we did not even notice them. sorry for the late reply

nice editing which section did you stay at? Maya colonial?

Hi Carrie, Yes, we stayed in Maya colonial, and we visited other resorts all the time, we went to Maya palace to watch the night show and went to Maya beach for the beach ( not rocky, but the palace and tropical have fish swimming reside the rocks ). we like colonial, but the food in the palace is better, we are not allowed to eat there, but that is only for restaurants, we grabbed some food when we were at the palace's beach and pool, Maya riviera is adult only, so my wife and I just did a quick 30 minutes checkout. thanks for your comment and let me know if you have any other questions 🙂

Looks amazing! Which section do you think is best for 2 girls 11 years of age? I am debating between Colonial or Palace.

Hi Peter, thanks for the question! We stayed at Colonial. If you stay at Palace, you have full access to all the other resorts except for the adults-only resort. If you stay at Colonial, you can go to all the others, but adults-only, but only get partial access to Palace, which doesn't include access to the buffet or restaurants. The only major difference between Colonial and Palace is the food because Palace will have more seafood. If I were you, I would choose Palace for the food. The bottom line is that both are similar and very good, but Palace is overall a little better, mostly for the food. Personally, the next time we stay, we would go to Palace.
