Tatsu is a steel flying roller coaster designed by Bolliger & Mabillard at the Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park located in Valencia, California, United States. Announced on November 17, 2005, the roller coaster opened to the public on May 13, 2006 as the park's seventeenth roller coaster. Tatsu reaches a height of 170 feet (52 m) and speeds up to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h). The roller coaster is also the world's tallest and fastest flying coaster; is the only flying roller coaster to feature a zero-gravity roll; and has the world's highest pretzel loop.

I know it sounds corny as hell, but if you can forget you’re on a rollercoaster and just believe you’re really flying, it’s beyond exhilarating and very empowering, not that it needs any help the ride is so damn fun.

When you go straight down, you feel like your litterally about to die. My back touched the back of my seat for about 10 seconds and those were the scariest 10 seconds of my life! My head hurt for about 5 minutes after this haha totally reccomend! Was super fun after the 5 heart attacks…

The best flying coaster that’s out there. The fact that you can’t even see the track for 90% of the ride, and you feel like your are literally flying in and out between the trees and the sky, then all of a sudden you see the track. A gigantic pretzel loop to suck you back down to reality just before your ride comes to a close. Takes your breath away, literally.

Definitely one of my favourites. Great ride pacing making the absolute most of the landscaping. The lift hill going up while the terrain fades away below you. The positive g's seem like they last forever as your head gets pressed into the ground. They nailed it with this one.

I had no idea what a pretzel loop was on a flying coaster before I first rode Tatsu. I think it's the closest I've ever come to throwing up on a coaster.

Lift hill is the scariest part of this ride for some reason, then you just glide gracefully through the sky.. until that pretzel loop tries to rip your soul out of your body, haha. Overall fun ride, probably my 3rd favorite at the park behind X2 and Twisted Colossus. Overall VERY smooth, feels amazing flying through the sky like that, great views of certain areas of the park. I would recommend this to people who are even semi-new to crazy coasters despite how scary it looks, but have to mention the caveat of that pretzel loop. Intense like 1.5-2 seconds where the forces are so strong that it feels like you can't breathe, but it's over in a blink of an eye. Me being an enthusiast, that's my favorite part of the ride, but I always warn people who are going on it the first time.

The pretzel loop at the end is hands down one of my favorite moments on any roller coaster. The only other element on a ride that comes close was the backward descending zero g roll on batman and robin the chiller at six flags great adventure.

Same! Back in the Summer of 06, I actually ditched the first day of summer school as a sophomore, to go with my friends and this was the first ride of the trip. Wasn't it red and orange? I've only ever gotten on it one other time back in 2016, and I swear the second time the pretzel loop felt uncomfortable! 😂 Unlike the first time, it was awesome! Getting old sucks.

Fun fact: This is the only coaster at SGMM that actually travels all the way around the sky tower; in other words, the tower is contained within the track layout’s interior.

I rode this at night for the first time and DANG it was scary! One of the few roller coasters that I have no desire to ride again. Recently spent 2 days at Kings Island and 3 at Cedar Point, just riding roller coasters! Now that was fun!

Didn't take long for the horizontal support at the top of the lift to get covered in grease. But the new paint looks great!

Chains must have grease all the time in order for the ride to work smoothly.

@@stephenn77 they had cleaned the chain when they finished up painting and the fresh grease isn't "caked" on well enough to stick very well yet. Once it gets hot and cools a few dozen times, it won't sling as much off. It's a messy step in the maintenance.

That forward roll is complete silence on the ride. Every time 😂 a little fear. A little…i cant breathe….a ton of fun. But that feature is maybe the most intense roller coaster feature I have ever experienced.

First time I rode this, years ago, was with my eyes closed. The whole time. The next time I rode it, in the daytime, reminded me WHY I rode with my eyes closed. Probably can’t ride anymore due to blood pressure, but an incredible (and terrifying) ride.

I thought I’d be okay riding this, because hey, I love coasters. But something about being face down for the lift bill hit my sympathetic nervous system the wroooooong way, and all I could think was, “…If this harness fails right now, I’m literally dead.” Not a rational thought at all, but it kinda took over and I went into “Ima shut my eyes and wait for this to be over” mode instead of enjoying it.

I just wrote it for the first time today, I will never forget this ride that pretzel loop insane Like my face is getting pushed in when I’m on my back it’s crazy. It’s so much fun though. I highly recommend this ride.
