The 2017 Toyota HiLux is available in more variations than any other ute and has a quiet diesel engine. It is excellent off-road in four-wheel drive configuration.
The Toyota HiLux has a quiet diesel engine, accommodates large loads with ease, and tows well. It is available with dual-range 4WD or two-wheel drive, and in 4WD trim it is excellent off-road. The HiLux is available in a wide range of variants, including cozy, family-friendly Double-Cabs. Toyota offers the best remote area support and all models come with automatic emergency braking.
The HiLux is available as a Pick-Up (with a factory tub at the rear) and as a cab on a chassis. It also comes in Single-Cab, Extra-Cab, and Double-Cab variations.
acquiring a taxi chassis With HiLux, you may install the tray of your choice at the back, including models created specifically for certain uses. There are just Single-Cabs in this type. However, you may have an Extra-Cab or Double-Cab as a Pick-Up or a cab-chassis.
Two people may ride in a single taxi. The two rear jump seats are accessible through back-hinged, rear-opening doors that only open when the front doors are open, allowing the expanded Extra-Cab vehicles to accommodate four passengers. Five people may sit in the traditional four-door configuration of a double taxi.
The HiLux is available with dual-range gearing and intermittent four-wheel drive, or it may be driven only with its rear wheels. Three engines make up the HiLux lineup: two four-cylinder turbodiesel engines and a four-cylinder gasoline engine. The most fuel-efficient HiLuxes are those with diesel engines. For the Workmate work trucks, there is a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, while the rest have a 2.8-litre four-cylinder that is more powerful. The two diesels perform similarly in official tests, but it's probable that the smaller 2.4 engine in the Workmates would consume less gasoline in practical situations.
The HiLux engine with the widest availability is the 2.8 diesel. Depending on the body type, equipment level, driveline, and gearbox, it uses between 7.3 and 9.0 liters/100 km on the official test (city and country combined). Autos use more gasoline than manuals do.
The Toyota Fortuner wagon and the majority of Prado wagons both use the same 2.8 diesel engine. It's a fine engine, although less potent than some other utes' larger diesel engines, but Toyota believes that the power increase it received in the second half of 2020 will enhance its capacity to pull and pass other vehicles.
The 2WD Workmates' 2.7-liter four-cylinder petrol engine consumes an unfrugal 11.1 liters of fuel every 100 kilometers. All of the automatic transmissions have six speeds. There is a six-speed manual version of the larger diesel as well. Workmates' manual gears feature either five or six speeds.
A HiLux SR with a higher price tag adds Sidesteps (which make getting in and out easier), a height-adjustable driver's seat, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a sound system with a few additional speakers-four in SR Extra Cabs and six in SR Double Cabs, respectively.
Rear differential locks on 4WD HiLux SR models help you retain control in challenging off-road situations, while downhill assist adjusts the brakes automatically to maintain a constant modest speed when negotiating steep descents so the driver can focus on driving.
All HiLuxes offer strong safety features, including seven airbags, electronic stability control, trailer-sway control, and a reversing camera. The good news is that, even when compared to more expensive versions, single-cab 2WDs don't skimp on safety; the SR5's auto-leveling LED headlights are the sole exception.
