I used a light zip tie and tied it to the holes in the rim. You can’t see the chain now and if I need to lower the wheel for a flat the zip tie will just break off due to the weight of the wheel coming down

That is a great idea Alex and seems to be a simple fix. I may be over complicating my approach haha. I'll post the video once I record it. Probably overkill what I am doing compared to your approach lol

Great content besides the wifey/cabin part. Wasn’t a fan of that. Looking forward to the bed cover. Trying to figure out which route I want to go whenever my truck comes in.

Thank you for your honest feedback Jason! That scene was posted with the full consent of the wife. We were actually cracking up because that quality control issue was really supposed to be about the inconsistency of the dash cam's connectivity to my phone. But, the cabin and camera kept shaking and we decided to just use that clip instead lol. But I do appreciate your honest feedback as these are things I take into consideration for future reference and content. My suggestion for your truck, no matter which way you go (OEM/TRD vs. Aftermarket vs. Stock) is just have your blueprint and do it right the first time. Learned this long ago and not doing it right the first time and constantly switching parts just makes it significantly more expensive. Hopefully Toyota/TRD updates the parts catalog as that is what I'll be using to modify my truck. I also learned that modifying with OEM parts actually adds value to the truck. I have no intent of selling it but it's nice to know if I ever do, I am adding equity haha.

@@TristanGrimaldo the main reason I’m going with the Pro is because there is less I need to do to it vs a lower trim. I have other projects(home stuff) that I want to do over the next couple years so I have a small budget for aftermarket upgrades. Thanks for keeping it 100 Tristan.

@@JayDeL_MMXIX Always 100! I agree with you. That is one of the reasons why I opted for a TRD Pro as well. Its mostly complete with everything I could want in that truck and deters me from making large aftermarket purchases which typically have no end because I always find something that needs to be improved lol.

Just tuck the chain up inside the middle of the spare rim, I have done that to all my old Tundras. The hanging chain is just their design, like it or not I wouldn't necessarily consider it a quality control issue.

Not a fan of the hanging chain either but that’s how they do it. I’m interested to see what they say in end about your seats. Mine are like that also but more so on the drivers side. I have some issues I’m going to complain about when I bring it In for its first service. Mostly rattling in the interior, specifically the front passenger door panel when I play loud music with a lot of base. I like watching videos like yours to see if there is something I haven’t noticed yet. So thanks for sharing

Please allow me to ask a layman question. My TRD PRO spare tire is different from the other four working tires. Is that the way it is supposed to be ? I thought the spare tire should be same as other tires on a truck.

That is actually normal not to have the same tire. Typically with spare tire set ups, there are usually speed restrictions on them as well. Like don't go over 30 mph sort of thing.

Did you put ceramic coating on your truck ? I am from Houston too and thinking to get mine coated to safe the color as it will be outside in heat :/ (solar octane)

Congrats on your truck. Yes, the dealer did put the diamond ceramic coating on my truck. This is the first I have ever had any ceramic coating on any of my vehicles and to be honest with you, well worth it. Its amazing how easy it is to keep the truck clean. Also, you should look at my truck cover video on this channel. That's what I use for mine since it doesn't fit in the garage. I have discount code specifically for my viewers also.

for the front specially i will install the paint protection film 1st to save the front end for rock chips and then will go for the coating for sure for the entire truck

I just got my truck a week ago, it’s a clone of yours. I checked the grills on my battery compartment and they’re both gapping out on the top. It appears they put some foam around the catch on the upper right tab. That makes me wonder if they weren’t trying to disguise the problem? Who did you contact to get a better fitting cover? Thanks

Do you plan on modifying your truck in any major way? Lift kit, Tires, etc?

My approach with this build is to try and keep the majority parts/modifications strictly Toyota or TRD, especially performance. Additional parts purchased will serve a purpose or enhance the functionality of the truck. I want to preserve the "TRD PRO" aspect of this truck as much as possible. Tires may be upgraded to 35s to fill in the wheel well but that would be a later on.
