The engine heat issue you mentioned is actually a great unintended benefit. The tank shape leads you to keep your knees tucked in. That transfers the heat which is great when it's chilly or cold. Next time you ride in any temp, at any speed,, just spread your knees out and you'll find that you're instantly cool and comfortable. I have the TS660 and a T100 and love both for totally different reasons.

Great video! I've got 2K miles on mine, and absolutely love it! It's a fantastic little canyon/mountain carver. The ergo's are spot-on perfect. In your lighting segment @6:00 I'm surprised you didn't mention the rear turn signals. In the US, our rear signals are red, and they also light with the brake light, for extra conspicuity. Also, on cold-starts, my bike takes maybe 1-2 seconds longer to start, but nothing like what your bike is doing.
@KSSTUDIOS
@KSSTUDIOS 2 жыл бұрын
I actually recorded a segment on the rear turn signals because I think that is a great feature with them lighting up with the brake light. Unfortunately, it didn't make it into the final cut due to a video issue at the time.

Just found your channel, good review, so I subscribed to see more of your videos. I just bought a blue Tiger Sport 660 a couple of weeks ago, have about 200 miles on it, and I have yet to experience the starting issue that you demonstrated. The fact you can reproduce the starting problem is even worse, as that would point to a real problem. Have you had the dealership look at your bike yet? I have seen this mentioned on the Triumph Rat forums, but wasn't sure exactly what they meant until seeing your video, so keep up the good work!

I have been interested in this particular model. I recently sold my Harley FLHR due to the "normal Harley engine vibration" (not engine sound; I had wonderful mufflers on it), that actually began to affect my inner ear when stuck in NJ/NY area traffic. The low end idle vibration bothered my ears and hearing the next day. I found your video quite informative. Enjoyed the fact that you present pros/cons. Hope to test ride one. Really wondering what your thought are on engine vibration, not a riding speeds (which you covered) but at idle, stuck in traffic or at traffic lights. Hope to hear back from you.

@@KSSTUDIOS with the negative points you make would you still buy the bike again? I ask because I was looking at the Tiger and Yamaha Tracer 7 gt (which I don't think you get in the US). Having tried both bikes and not being able to make up my mind it was basically a case of availability The Tracer wouldn't have been available till April 2023 as it's a new model whilst the Tiger being a current model was available straight away. In the end I saw a Tiger demonstrator in a main dealer showroom already with luggage rack, hand guards and panniers fitted for a very good price and with the other optional extras I'm having fitted came quite a way under what the price of the Tracer would have been (with extras I would have had fitted) even though the Tracer has the panniers and luggage rack as standard. The Tiger was also in red which is £100 dearer if added as an option. I just hope I've made the right decision.

I just got this bike as well! Same color and everything! I have experienced the same issue with the automatic cancelling with the turn signals. I also agree that the turn signal selector button isn’t very tactile. On my last ride, I made a point of really pushing the button hard to the side, and it seemed to improve the automatic cancelling so it would stay on until I actually turned. I thought maybe I hadn’t been fully engaging the turn signals previously and that was the problem. Too soon to tell if that’s the real issue but thought I’d share just in case.

FYI on the turn signals. I learned on my test ride it has a 2 stage function. A slight activation engages it for 3 seconds and is intended for use when changing lanes and will quickly turn off after you completed your lane change, which is assumed by Triumph to take 3 seconds. Pressing and holding the button just a bit longer engages it for a turn, which will keep it on until the turn is complete. I believe the Tiger 900 has the option in the menu system to disengage the lane change function. I don't believe the Sport 660 allows you to disengage it. I personally don't like the lane change function.

Hi there, i have bought the lucerne blue model of this bike and have not experienced your start up issues or rattly inner panels. I have fitted the following triumph accessories, rear carrier and topcase with colour matched infill a lower colour matched belly pan and had the engine crash protection pads fitted. Also recently had the heated grips and an accessorie din plug fitted to power my mobile phone. Also i have fitted Pyramid front and rear fender extendas and like you i have the paddock stand bobbins for access to cleaning and lubricating the chain. i would recommend a radiator guard also as i have fitted one to my bike to reduce any risk to your radiator. Here in the uk its now turning colder but i ride all year so time will tell how it performs over winter. A great detailed video and i have subbed to follow your progress. I feel like the Tiger 660 has a better motor but the Honda was more reliable and more comfortable to ride. If I had to pick which one I miss more I would say the Honda. Any bike engine is going to 'get hot'...though it has been 'mentioned' that this bike does feel very warm after some time, but, how it may feel... can also depend on whether you are a 'crotch' rider or scoot your but back on the seat. I sit back, to get the more 'upright' though then slightly lean in at the shoulder - but your uncovered legs [really] on any bike if you are in shorts will feel engine heat. I always ride in jeans.

Cruise control would be a really nice option on this bike, has throttle by wire why not add cruise? Other bikes in this class don't offer it either.

I believe that is down to price as this bike is competing with bikes of a similar ilk at a similar price.

It would barely add any cost to Triumph to add it. The only reason they don’t is because they want to upsell you to a more expensive Tiger in the range which does have it.

I'm riding a.ninja 1000 and I'm 5'7...will I be comfortable with a tiger?

The Tiger is a little tall but it should be just fine. I would recommend trying one for size at a dealer if you have one close enough to you.

did you regret changing the nc for this?

I don't regret changing bikes but there are definitely pros and cons for each. I'll be doing a comparison video soon on this topic, but to sum up my current feelings: The Triumph has been more exciting to ride but the Honda NC750 was a better commuter bike for me. It has better low-end torque and less heat (which is a big deal when you live in the desert).

I was on the verge of buying this bike but after this seeing this video, I'd rather leave the money in the bank. That kind of aggro to cold-start the bike is just not on! Also, the lag on the throttle is unacceptable. Throttle slack really changes the behaviour of a bike and with some bikes, it makes them no fun at all. Thanks for the forewarning.

I'll be doing follow-ups on this issue as I use the bike more. Currently trying some premium fuel in here to see if it helps.

@@KSSTUDIOS I bought mine Tuesday and am having the same cold start issue. I work from home and rode it once during my first break yesterday and then during my lunch, fired right up for the lunch ride.

@@ScottRPriester My consecutive start-ups on the same day always start on the first try too. It just seems to be after it has been sitting for a day or longer that it takes a couple of tries.

compared to the NC ?

The NC750 is a great bike and I highly recommend it, but I find that the Tiger Sport is more fun to ride and a little easier to maneuver. I do miss the front storage on the NC.

The HEAT! Engine Heat? We encountered this issue last year reviewing the big dog 1.8L Harley-Davidson Breakout (not Outbreak, that’s Ebola isn’t it?) in chock-a-block Bangkok tropical UV radiation hot traffic. I burned my ankle. Two hour hours later the clutch gave up! BikeSanooK KZfaq review cancelled next day we tested the Pan America Here’s the video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y7-Ba66Ul7G0dmg.html

Don't crank your first cold start up crank for as long as you do, cut that in half, or more. The answer is in the second start not the first, so dont try to start the bike on your first crank.

I don't normally hold it for that long. I was trying to exaggerate the cold start-up delay.

I do the same thing. First start for 2 or 3 seconds then try again and no issue. I’m curious why everyone has so much trouble with this. Oh, and why so many people are so damn obsessed with a clock.

Had a look at one of these first hand at a dealer a couple of weeks ago. After all the glowing KZfaq reviews I was expecting a really well put together bike. I must say I was underwhelmed. The fit and finish was just average and clearly a bike built down to a price. I was disappointed as it was top of my list. Thanks for your realistic review.
