I love the USA. I DO THINK that Jade Carey is GREAT, but I feel that she lacks feeling in her artistry. I get NO FEELING from her dancing but her skills are completely there. She just needs more FIRE in her routines. GO USA!!!
@kristaw8445
@kristaw8445 Жыл бұрын
Her artistry is terrible she’s like a robot. She desperately needs to take a dancing class. There’s just no artistry in her gymnastics whatsoever. They don’t call it artistic gymnastics for a reason you know? Also, her floor routine is a whole hot mess the only good thing about it is her tumbling. I cringe when I watch her attempt to dance because it’s like she just moves exactly like a robot
@SusanKempWrites
@SusanKempWrites Жыл бұрын
I agree with this. She kind of reminds me of Tonya Harding (not the shanking your teammate in the knee part, but just in that she's all sheer power but not necessarily the elegance someone like Leanne on beam can pull off).
@spongebob-wd9zg
@spongebob-wd9zg Жыл бұрын
I agree. She doesn't have to be elegant or graceful perse but I wish there was a little more to her routines than the big skills. I still support her though and she's an amazing gymnast regardless
@catherinegee2741

Jade is very sticcoto in her dance movements and is not fun to watch. She can tumble I give her that. But dance and choreography is not a straighth. I wish she wouldn't do beam either because she never gets a good score. Vault is where she rocks.

Shilese is so adorable, it's amazing she can do what she does with her long nails cuz i don't think I've ever seen another gymnast keep their nails long and perform. I'm so happy for canada but it was also really hard watching japan lose third, idk i felt like kokoro was off when she walked up, like she wasn't feeling it or under too much pressure. Also what the hell was the spotter even doing there for italy? Not helping that's for sure since he didn't even flinch and just let her fall right to the ground. It reminded me of what valeri did when nastia fell on ub during her comeback, hell he didn't even help his daughter up and it was hard to watch.

I'm really happy for Canada and the UK for winning medals and finally being seen. Not just our usual USA, China and Russia on the podium and the rest just kind of being there. NBC really did great with showing different routines and gymnasts from all countries, and also the commentators were fantastic. It was about time to kick Tim Dagget out and replacing with more positive commentary. He used to always tally up deductions instead of acknowledging how difficult it is to even land on the feet after flipping and twisting upside down. Great job NBC!

Thank you, Number One! Just out of curiosity: Were Americans not able to see the KZfaq live stream from the FIG channel? The women's team final is a saved video so you can access it unless you are geo blocked. No commercials and the commentators are Olly (not sure of his last name) and Blythe Lawrence. I will watch this video later because they may have shown more/other routines. No idea what happened to France and Italy for example. I disagree with the announcer when she says that the gymnasts appear to be having so much more fun now that the artistry requirements have increased. I think they often look bored and like they’re literally going through the required motions.
@mygirldarby

I know a lot of American gymnasts are now going to college and then returning to elite gymnastics. They have so much fun doing college gymnastics that they are now bringing that fun back to elite level. Also, the women in general are older now and aren't treated the way they were in the 90's and 00's. The new gymnast is older, has a normal healthy weight, and is more confident. I think we will continue to see women enjoying the sport and not the scared starved and abused girls we watched doing gymnastics with stern faces and dark circles under their eyes in the past. We are now regularly seeing women in their late 20s and beyond competing at an elite level, which proves that women gymnasts were being pressured to retire in their prime due to nothing more than sexism. Coaches like the Karolyis preferred very young gymnasts that they could order around and intimidate. It also set up people like Larry Nasser who saw the opportunity to abuse these girls, knowing they would be too afraid to tell. I'm so glad those days are over.

What I noticed was that some of the really good teams were not there. Like Russia. Ukraine, Australia, Romania, Germany, Switzerland and many more. I wonder why.

russia is/was banned for 2022, the others did not have good enough teams.

Don't get me wrong: I think that team USA is great but I hate how the commentators always praise them before they even start their routine. It's sooo annoying :/

I seriously wonder how the outcome of this meet would’ve changed had Russia been allowed to compete. We’ll never know!

I find it in part’s refreshing and in others sad to see that country sat down and punished by the world of sports for its actions over the past few years. Between the war in Ukraine and the massive doping scandal, it needed to happen. It’s unfortunate the athletes are the ones who lose out, but something absolutely had to be done. I do miss seeing their gymnastics.

I don’t really think Putin gives a you know what that his athletes are out of international comp, so whatever their intentions were by enacting that, made no difference, it just crushed the athletes, who are innocent.

@@britmturner843 not all are innocent, that’s the biggest problem. On the women’s side, most likely yes. On the men’s side- most likely not. As much as the athletes are losing out, I will always stand by the decision to bar all Russian athletes at this time- from every sport. For me, it’s not necessarily the war- it’s the doping scandal. That situation absolutely warrants harsh punishment across the board. No country should be allowed to get away with actually seeking out chemical enhancement for performance gains. Other countries have been punished for it, so should they. It’s the reason I feel China should have lost everything from 2001 to when the age falsification was uncovered. They would have most likely faced a a barring from team competition during that time frame (others have) and been required to send only a couple of neutrally designated athletes. I am a sports official myself and firmly believe in holding all countries to the highest standard of conduct, both in sport and in humanitarian treatment before they should be permitted to compete in elite sports.

@britmturner843 at least those athletes won't be forced to take dangerous chemicals in order to give that country an edge. If you look at it that way, it is for the benefit of the Russian athletes.
