I miss Kara. Luckily we have all these amazing songs to go back in time and enjoy their happy, healthy, energetic and sweet spirit. I am so excited for the comeback, although it will always be a little bitter with Hara missing. And we will never see Sunghee on stage. But Nicole, Gyuri, Seungyeon, Jiyoung and Youngji will rock the stage. Also it's funny to have Jiyoung and Youngji at the same time in the group, since their name is similar :D
Honestly I’m not too crazy about these K-Pop groups and idols. Their performances are indeed impressive at first sight but have little lasting value due to too much artificial programming, stylized make-up and uniformity in choreography, music and looks. Their choreography is meticulously designed admittedly, and they perform in perfect unison and highly skilled coordination, to the degree of being robot-like, mechanic and routine, which make one feel dazzled at first, but then kind of inundated, cloyed and bored after watching them for a while. Their attempt to overwhelm and overkill with overdone flawlessness and overdosed flamboyance and panache instead render them inorganic, fulsome, and cheesy. The dance and music are also largely monotonous and predictable, which can be accurately described as “glamorously mediocre”, if you pardon my oxymoron. Those idols also look very much like each other, mostly being of a slightly broad, egg-like shape of face, perhaps the result of ubiquitous cosmetic surgery, thus becoming all but indistinguishable, with little distinctive individual facial features. Frankly I feel any aesthetically perceptual viewers, sooner or later, would be fed up with such manufactured stage shows for their excessive and over-drilled affectation and standardized grooming, and for lack of real personal and presentational diversity. I myself couldn’t help but feel it a waste of time and money to chase after these artificial, superficial, flashy, gaudy, and meretricious K-Pop stars. On the other hand, The Japanese idol groups, once top of the East Asia but now pathetically lagging behind their former imitators i.e. the South Korean ones in worldwide fame and influence, should exert and reinvent themselves to make a comeback and revive and reclaim their old glory.
