Hey great comparison on the 450's. I too ride a Honda (vet speed) and are constantly adjusting the shock for traction + comfort. I run 108 sag so she squats a bit more, helps me a little. If you suss out the rear end issue please keep us Honda riders in the loop. My backs killing me from the weekend!

Nice!! So cool to have Dean's bike to test. Cool dude! -->> did you change the suspension settings for you? --> I couldn't find a way (if there was one) to Watch Sunshine State MX from Coolum this past weekend, but I checked the final standings! Awesome results!! Well done considering who you are racing against! 3rd in race 2 was it? Sweeet!! - Looking forward to the VLOG from it. ** Is that a sticker of Jase from Gypsy Tales on your front fender???

If you try the white map coupler on the Kawi, it is a completely different engine characteristic then the standard green coupler. Very "revvy"......at least on my '22.

Try the Ride engineering 23.5 triple clamps and push your rear axle back a little bit more on the Honda, you’ll be surprised of the difference.

I guess playing with the fork height or the sag, or different triple clamp can help for the front feeling on the yamaha. Will see in the future when that bike will be better known. Personally i am a Yamaha lover.

Yeh mate, Obviously with just the one day we didn’t have a tonne of time to test different fork heights ect but I was still a fan of the bike for sure 🤙🏼

@@JoelEvans There is no adjustment for fork sag other than a different preload spacer, or a different rate spring. Preload is the best when it is small, and the spring weight is mostly determined by your weight. It is not like the shock, where we set the sag to see if we need a different spring rate. you do that first, then make sure you have the fight fork spring rate for your weight, (and riding talent/what you ride on.). What you should try is rotating your bars back. Experiment a bit, and think you will feel the front end a lot more, and after 3 days of riding, it will boost your confidence in the corners, weather there is a berm or an off camber. Right now---you need a berm. :)

Thanks for the video.Has the front end feel improved on the KTM much. I have a 21 FC450 which im about to sell because of the lack of feeling in the front. Im thinking abuot the KTM 350, but if it hasn't improved a great deal i will look else where.

Ditch the air forks and put in a KYB spring conversion kit, it drops right into your existing tubes. I have a 21.5 factory edition husky and absolutely love it now. And yes you'll get the feeling back in the front end, no more "unexpected" washouts.

Back to Back rides are a great way to get a feel for the different characteristics of each bike. I have the new '23 YZ450F and can relate to your comments about the engine (very responsive and pulls forever). I also felt the YZ450 has little engine braking with a very free feel overall from the engine - even at high RPM's. Agility and direction changes stand out for me on the '23 YZ450 - I think the mass centralization comes into play but I did not hear you comment about that compared to the other bikes...did you notice any more agility on the YZ450F? Did you notice any of the '23 model year updates to the chassis and engine on the 23 CRF450R? I like your videos and insights....to the point and easy to understand!

I rode the 23 Honda no better than the year before it. The front end can bite you. Sometimes it’s good and the next lap can catch you of guard. The power absolutely sucks! Especially if you just got off a Yamaha or Kawasaki.

If you want to "feel the froint end" better when entering a rut, (try it on flat ground too.), rotate your handlebars back so the ends of the grips are pointing down. You will find that you can keep your elbows up easier, and more over the grips for that good corner feedback. The high bar set up actually was adopted from freestyle, (clearance for tricks), but it may be good for SX rhythm sections also, since you are pivoting the front end down 4 times in a rhythm section. for every straight. Lower them. You will almost immediately start cornering better, and start liking corners that don't have a berm.

I’m heavy and 6,1 swapmoto said the yamy best for taller the new ergos taller seat etc. and the other said the kx good for taller bigger riders, in your opinion or any one else option ? What’s the more comfy bike for taller peeps not cramped feeling ? Out of the 2 yz / kx ?

My friend is 6’1” and 240. He has the Kawasaki which he had motor work and suspension done. He then rode the stock Yamaha and said stock form was better than his Kawasaki. He absolutely loved the motor! He said he needs a motor to pull his big ass around. Lol. He also loved the suspension and how it cornered. Basically he liked the whole package. He’s also Surprisingly fast and likes big jumps for a guy his stature.

@@adamrochester1 he had the 19 or 20.. he said not much has changed from then to now from other ppls that he has ridden. Thing is the Yamaha tuner app makes a huge difference in tuning vs 3 plugs from Kawasaki. For some reason all the dealers around me have a lot of Kawasaki’s still on the floor and $1000 off the price for the 450..another friend of mine had a new Kawasaki 250f for about 2 weeks and took it back and traded for something else. He said he hated the clutch and something about the suspension and or handling. But that’s the 1st time he has ever done that. He’s had about every brand. It’s nice when you can find some ppl and test a few and see what you like and suits you.

This really isn’t a shootout. This is about the bike you ride and how to fix an adjust that bike to work better. When doing a shootout you test different settings on each bike not keep the way someone else rides it. They set it up for them only. That Yamaha you can get to steer very well and yet not have that knifing like the Honda that it’s known for and yet still be stable through the whoops. We see Eli doing that a lot. Undercuts ppl in the corner and pull away through the whoops. Very rare a bike can do both.

MXA does not do a "shoot out" either. They are a sales brochure compared to the MXA of the 70's, 80's and 90's. I can go through that magazine today with a red pencil, and mark it down to a "C grade" myself. :( Back in thos days, if you read MXA and bought the bike, you knew exactly what you were getting. Today, I get back into riding, read the test on the 2019 YZ250 2-stroke, bought it,---and it was a total surprise. But I think every industry is going downhill like that. Our education sabotaged us I think, and it was called "progress".
