Today on the channel, we are looking at the sensational Drumline that is the Blue Devils! They were warming up here for the 2023 DCI Finals and it is insane the amount of skill and technical ability on display. Their dynamic control and accuracy is like none other, and I am in awe just watching them! If I could apply just 1/10th of their ability to the drum set I would be 100 times the player I am. you should definitely react to full dci shows! two of my favorites with amazing drumming are santa clara vanguard 2018 and boston crusaders 2022 both amazing im sure you’ll love it!

I played drums (starting in 4th grade) I used to lug home a snare drum every friday so I could practice during the weekend, than lug it back to elementary school every Monday morning. I spent countless hours practicing on a drum pad. In Highschool i would take my drum pad in the laundry room, because we lived in apartments, and practice all while my clothes were washing and drying. I loved it! I am subscribing l, love your reaction!

Typical drum corps schedule: November/December/January: Auditions February through April: weekend camps, 12 hour day rehearsals. May/June: Spring Training- 7 days a week rehearsals, 12 hours a day. End of June til Championships (2nd weekend August) 6-7 hours of rehearsal on show days. 12 hour rehearsal days on non show days. Start over in November. Metronome is only used during rehearsal and warm ups.

Great reaction! Great feedback! React to 2018 sata clara vanguard and 2013 cadets...did drum lines rehearse 12 hours a day..3 four hour blocks...auditions are every November and finals are in august..so each season is 9 months in the making!! Dedication at its finest!! They have to pay tuition participate..see finals some day live! You can literally feel the emotion!!

One of the cleanest DCI lines on the internet would be SCV 2019, it was their 4th year in a row winning best percussion. It’s got super cool writing and they play it perfectly

You should react to inferno dci 2015! There’s is a lot of percussion parts, and is also my fav show… you won’t regret it!

I’ve been playing snare and quads since the early 90’s and the evolution of drumlines are insane. Yes reading music is a must and memorizing is easy when you play something thousands of times. The sticking is the hardest part, Swiss triplets, cheese your flams, paradiddles at 180 bpm no problem. Fun stuff!!

They have seemed to evolve, even though I am not as familiar with that world! It sounds crazy difficult and some of those rudiment names sound like a cooking recipe 🤣 Thanks for sharing and swinging by!

If you think this is impressive you should see what I did to the toilet at taco bell. But yes BD had an amazing drumline last summer and this would have been a fun program to get to play all summer.

Those full size quads can be about 30 pounds or more. The biggest basses are up there too but more forgiving because the weight is further up instead of down and outwards

@@setonhillstudios Yeah its wild. They move in in mid-May and learn the show during those 14 hour days until the end of June, then they go on tour throughout the country, ending at Indianapolis for finals in August.

@@setonhillstudios DCI has a website where you can find out if there's a show near you this summer!! If you're interested in checking some of these incredible musicians out in person, go there! The season starts in 14 days and ends in Indy the second weekend of August!

there’s drumlines like rhythm x that make up a lot of their drill & the music on the fly. they’ll throw together some crazy lick without there ever being sheet music. i think even BD does their drill like that too
