Some of my favorite recent Carmel arranging … so interested in how Saucedo chooses to re-organize big moments (i.e. opening with what most bands have used as a ballad hit), re-interpret rhythms, etc. We hear that it’s Jeremiah, but it’s also something entirely new. Another beautiful visual tapestry from Gaines. Kudos to everyone involved

Hey Scott, band parent here from Lexington, KY. Thanks for posting these. It's a shame BOA doesn't have an affordable option for watching these events.

You are very welcome. And I couldn’t agree more. If you want to grow an activity make the performances easily accessible. Btw did you happen to see my recording of Lafayette from 1979? (Yes I was there. Haha )

@@srmtn1Yes I did see that. I've shown it to my son as well. Things have definitely changed, but it's nice to see that complex and intricate drills are still where it's at.

@@srmtn1 Agreed! Atleast back in the early 00's we could buy DVDs of the top performances. Now, we're lucky if we can find a bootleg video on YT.

This show should send a signal to Hebron. There is no need for DCI - D1 level drill complexity if you want to win nationals. Focus on music performance, and clean drill execution.
@ag225-ml7 ай бұрын
Not that I don't prefer Hebron. To win, you need to be spotless.

Well to be fair Avon definitely had the hardest visuals this year especially with that opening choreography and still won the title, vis, and GE. I think there needs to be a decent blend of difficulty and execution to get the difficulty points, cleanliness points, and cool factor points for vis and vis ge
@user-ml2re8ek7b6 ай бұрын
@@katana2140 I wouldn't say Carmel had the hardest visuals, they had the cleanest drill. The hardest drill went to Hebron and Carmel had the best overall visual book. I would say this. Hebron got the highest music score in history, but places 4th in Music GE. At the high school level, difficult, but clean music does not win. You need clean music, clean drill but good visuals.
@katana21406 ай бұрын
@@user-ml2re8ek7b I never said carmels drill was the hardest because it’s definitely not. I am saying Avon had the hardest and honestly I though Avon had cleaner drill than Carmel too
@user-ml2re8ek7b6 ай бұрын
@@katana2140 I meant Avon, not Carmel. And again, Avon did not have the hardest drill. Not by a long shot. Perhaps you can site their most difficult drill sequence?

They're going to win again aren't they? It feels like they always win even when they have a boring show. EDIT: Looks like I was wrong.

This one is much better than last years
@reinburhythm32158 ай бұрын
They win with boring shows cause their technique appeals to judges. Although this year Avon and Carmel have been neck to neck with Carmel winning super regionals but Avon winning state finals. Plus, Hebron's there as well, and they all tied for the outstanding awards during semis, so there's a decent chance they won't win (and if they do, it'll definitely be by a very small margin).

Boring or entertaining to your taste doesn't mean they'll place better or worse. Whether we like it or not their musical performance is amazing and deceptively hard, while their visuals are also phenomenal.

Hebron has an untouchable brass section, but Carmel can balance like nobody else. They have the ability to sound like a moving orchestra. Their guard also helped get them more points than Hebron.
